The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

...lot of great info here to dig through and study
It's a fantastic thread, but yeh, LOTS of info to get through.

Followed the advice and swapped the airstone for a regular water pump, and running it 15mins every hour (timer has 15m intervals). cheers @NoviceKushVillage! 1 step closer to a fully dialled in grow.

In terms of the feed schedule, I'm still experimenting - I'd love to see some side-by-sides of the same strain under a heavy versus light feed schedule. I'm on the light and regular schedule and seeing great results, the potency of the nutes available is always the same strength around the root system, which to me is optimal. We shall see, always learning and keen to hear other's opinions.

Love getting this feeling every time I implement something I've learnt even over the most basic shit sometimes hahaha

I've been running .1 EC tap water with enough calmag to draw it up to .3/.4 EC then just been been on and around 2ml canna a+b/l with same 2ml/l for rhiz and approx 2.4/2.6ml cannazym (not sure exactly as can only remember how much goes in the res right now, not the per litre amount) but basically in last few weeks of veg been on bottles recommendations. Has all in all been around 1 - 1.3 EC through veg I think, and this is all I've used in coco and some in mixed coco cross perlite as experimenting (But i think my consensus now is to run pure coco in the summer to retain slightly more as it's quite hot here, and then maybe 20% in the winter if I even use any perlite) Otherwise this is all I've been using and getting great results. Even broke off small branch a couple of weeks ago and literally transferred it to a cup of water and then into a solo cup of coco and it's come out as a healthy clone, so I assume they're quite happy.

What're you running by light/medium? Or anyone have any recommendations? :)

I do not use Canna's schedule, my goal is 250 to 300 ppm in veg and 350 to 400 in bloom. Also don't use PK 13/14, use KoolBloom liquid for two weeks around the third week of 12/12. I do get a bit of tip burn which I attribute to the KB, because my ppm is on the low side.
I found that less is more. Using their recommendation we get burn fairly bad. Oh yeah, I run RO water with a starting ppm of around 50, add cal/magic and Epsom prior to adding any nutes. In flower that puts me around 1.1 to 1.2 EC.

I use pure coco and a few different types of leds. I run budget in veg, the king plus 2000 and the 1000. In flower, it gets a bit crazy, I run per 5x5 space the following:
1x HLG 550 in the centre
4x HLG 135 for each corner to give a uniform coverage.

Love the HLG quantum boards, massive step up from the old LED tech from a few years back, fully customisable, and, man, are they bright?!

I run a perpetual grow and generally have 4 5x5 spaces full, clones, early veg, late veg, early flower, late flower. I usually run an 8 week veg to achieve the size and shape that suits my style of grow. I perform a huge amount of LST during veg and early flower. I discovered the nebula manifold method a while back and haven’t looked back.

Essentially, I train my plants so that each has 8 main colas. This is perfect for me in flowering where I then implement a SCROG. All up, in flower, I would have around 9 plants and around 70 main colas. The goal I’m trying to reach is to have an once per cola. Not too far away from achieving it!

I have found the two strains I’m running perpetually (Critical+2.0, Critical Kush) are very heavy feeders, therefore, at least in flower, I have the ec above 2.0. I used to use the canna feeding chart as a basic guide, but once you have kept a few detailed journals and you know your strains, you generally know what they need at each stage. Each plant/strain/environment is obviously quite different, it just takes time.... identify the phenotypes you want within the strain, make a few mistakes, understand what went wrong/right, and get it dialled in. It’s all about the journey for me! Best and most rewarding job in the world ;)

hello there!
im using canna coco and im just not seeing as big of buds as i did when i was using cyco. im just wondering if anyone could give me some places to start looking for problems. my ph and ppm/ec is all worked out fine and im following the grow guide to the T. adding cal mag and all. i mean my branches all have very strong stocks and all and everything is super frosty the nugs just arnt punching out like id like/seen them do. so any pointer would be great

Maybe following the grow guide to the T could be an issue. For my current strain, if I follow the guide exactly I’d have some very burnt ladies... how’s the run off ph/ec? Soil sample?
no issues with environment? It’s getting cold in the north, I’m expecting smaller but much tighter nugs next harvest just from the drop in ambient temperature.

Get into those leaves and buds with a good microscope and see what’s happening there. last time I had smaller buds on a plant it turned out that broad mites had gotten into it, literally sucking on the buds.

Are you using the whole suite of the canna bite range? A/B, rhizo, pk13/14, boost/or equivalent?

Are you growing the same exact strain that you experienced good bud growth with previously?

Yes same strains and using the full mix. I've examined the buds and no bugs/mites of any kind. It has been cold but I've managed to keep my rooms perfect for the most part. I think I need to tweak the boost up a small amount. I'm using the lowest dose because it's so expensive. I've even heard adding pk in week 5 can help too so I tried that. Not getting any burns or anything like that. Thanks for the reply

Hmm, crazy... if all factors are consistent from both mediums, and the only change is medium and nutes, then I guess that’s your issue.

PK for 6-8 days 3 weeks before harvest is good. Hard to tell without knowing your runoff ph/ec, but sounds like they need a boost in the feeding...after the pk, personally, I continue on with a booster, not boost because it’s crazy expensive, rather, bud xl. Works well. Same same but cheaper ;)

I guess in the process of understanding these new nutes, how much/little to feed, you start to see bigger and bigger buds. I also like to give many small feeds using canna coco. I like to keep the nutes fresh as fresh in the medium to allow the roots access to full strength food as much as possible. At the same time, not overdoing it, leaving a good 10-20% dryness to allow good air penetration to oxygenate those roots. I have girls at week 4, heavily feeding, 1.7ec/5.8ph, and they are getting 7x 15min feeds a day. About 3Lt (.8g) a plant, with 10-20% runoff always. Everyday is a feed day, no flushing until 7-10 days before harvest.

Food for thought ;)

Hello
I am using coco for the first time. I use canna coco proffesional plus with canna nutrients. My question is how to mix the following: canna a+b, rhizotonic, cannazym, cannaboost and calmax?
I do not need dosages but only Instructions how to mix them.
At the moment i am adding canna coco a first than B and the following accordingly... is that good or should i mix them differently?
Thanks

Sounds good, mix them 1 at a time. Order doesn’t matter.

yeah just one at a time in order from a-boost. just follow the order of the chart on the canna site!

My first run with coco. I have been using hydroguard 2ml/gal every feed. I am almost out of hydroguard and would like to know if i can substitute great white as i have a half bottle of it.

Does anyone know whats in the canna base “A”bottle? I understand it has nitrogen, potassium, and calcium. What other micronutirents are in bottle A. Im trying to figure out how to reduce the nitrogen level by half during flowering. In a couple months im going to be growing a couple sensitive , long flowering, 16 weeks, type plants. With most hybrids i can easily use 5-7ml/g of a and b. And the plants are happy. But with the long flowering gals, it is way too much nitrogen. So lets say half of “a” , with the addition of calcium, and potassium supplements to keep those numbers up. But what else is going to be missing from the reduced usage of bottle A? Certain micros? What do you all think?

I have had trouble with only one strain in flower getting too much N from canna. I found that running, like you, 5-7 ml/ gal is sufficient and not too much N. When I had a real heavy feeder, I had to supplement with CaMg which I didnt have to do before running the Canna line. What I found was not adding the CaMg and instead bumping up the base (which has some CaMg) was giving the girls too much N and the leaves were dark green and gettin tip curl. So bringing the base back down and adding the CaMg was the answer and the girls were not getting too much N at those levels... does that help/make sense?

I guess what im trying to say is that you should be okay, based on my experience, running 5-7ml/gal and not giving them too much N.

I agree, with most hybrids, this a and b mix is way too easy to use.
But i have tried these long flowering varieties in the past in coco with canna and it was a total nightmare during flower. Issues stemming from too much nitrogen. And proceeding to some deficiencies when bottle A was reduced. That's why i had switched to organic soil mix for these kind of plants. But id like to give it a shot again. Smaller pots , multiple feeding. Low ppms.

Hey Guys!
Im planning to make the switch from Terra to Canna for my next run. Can anyone be kind enought to share a feeding scedule for an 8 week hybrid grow? Or is your recommendations to just follow the "light feeding" schedule in the canna grow guide?

Starting from scratch with a new strain, got a few years of growing experience but im no expert. Got the enviroment dialed in and running co2.
