The fastest growing religious group in the United States are “Nones” – as in no religion at all – and it's time they get a holiday of their own.

Rapid technological progress drives rapid social evolution, and it is speeding up, TV and cable brought you hippies and assorted freaks a decade after its arrival (many here ) and who knows what the internet and cellphones will spawn! Comedians are having trouble keeping up, even the younger ones are often banned from college campuses, the times they are a changing, rapidly I might add!

So, don't get too picky, if someone is not perfectly politicly correct, because that one changes right under yer own feet, as yer rebuking the other poor slob for his transgression! Hence, we have WOKE! Jesus, I think I just defined it! o_O

If you do a bit of research you will find that nearly every press in America and in nearly every country in the world, and your former Prez Obama (remember when you had a great prez, sure he attacked press freedoms to but not like trump..lets hope you get another one like him soon) along with nearly every world leader are against the witch hunt Trump started against the press. America has also acted quiet badly and illegally. But hey if you like trump and his ways and do not value a Free press then you do you.
I grew up around journalists and politicians and my dad was a newspaper editor for awhile as well as being a fairly well known war photographer and my mum worked in Parliament house, my step mum has worked in the Office of The PM as an advisor so what i see and hear is obviously a different angle than your Conservative Murdoch news.
Our current Prime Minister is a signatory to the Free Assange cause.

"The Obama-Biden administration, in office during the WikiLeaks publication in 2010, refrained from indicting Assange, explaining that they would have had to indict journalists from major news outlets too. Their position placed a premium on press freedom, despite its uncomfortable consequences. Under Donald Trump however, the position changed. The DoJ relied on an old law, the Espionage Act of 1917 (designed to prosecute potential spies during world war one), which has never been used to prosecute a publisher or broadcaster.
This indictment sets a dangerous precedent, and threatens to undermine America’s first amendment and the freedom of the press."

"The Obama DOJ – despite launching notoriously aggressive attacks on press freedoms – recognized this critical principle when it came to WikiLeaks. It spent years exploring whether it could criminally charge Assange and WikiLeaks for publishing classified information. It ultimately decided it would not do so, and could not do so, consistent with the press freedom guarantee of the First Amendment. After all, the Obama DOJ concluded, such a prosecution would pose a severe threat to press freedom because there would be no way to prosecute Assange for publishing classified documents without also prosecuting the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian and others for doing exactly the same thing. "

"Obtaining and disclosing sensitive information when necessary in the public interest is a core part of the daily work of journalists. If that work is criminalised, our public discourse and our democracies are made significantly weaker. "

Michael Pompeo and trump were embarrassed by the press so they did what dogs do.

I still don't think America will lock Trump up but we will see.
You certainly have been super hyped and fanatical about the Ukraine war.
It is the struggle for liberal democracy that is my primary interest, whether in America or Ukraine, different battlefields, same war same assholes on the other side. America will lock Trump up or he will die, that you can be assured of, he has already entered the "machine" and will be chewed up and shit out in a cage by it.

The Ukrainian war is pivotal, will change the map of Europe and Asia and is important from my end of the world to yours. A defeated Russia might mean no future European commitment to Europe and NATO, the dissolution of the Russian Empire and China's attention drawn to the fabulous opportunities now being presented in Asia for China. The future mineral wealth could affect Australia and their shift of focus away from Tiawan would be desirable. I don't generally take an interest in wars without end, but this one will have an end.

I used to work for the railways and it is easy to spot the Russian dependency and vulnerably to the destruction of rail bridges inside Russia near Ukraine's borders. I also have FPV drones and RC planes as a retirement hobby so that aspect of the war interests me too and I anticipated much of it because much of it is being done by fellow hobbyists, who are training regular troops and doing the work too. Australia and NZ are big in the RC and drone worlds and the sport appears to be very popular there.

To me its just another war in the long list of wars. It may or may not escalate just like every war. It wont be ending anytime soon and will be really interesting to look back on and digest it in the future.
Only two things are certain. Many, many more Ukrainians and Russians will die and Ukraine will take a generation just to rebuild after the war is over and there will be profit in the rebuilding.
The third thing may be that life goes on in the rest of Europe and the world as the war rages. It drops on and off the news depending on the news cycle.
Will also make the next one, two or even three US elections interesting in regard to public opinion. Shorter wars help the incumbents but longer wars don't. That's if Putin survives that long of cause

When Russia is defeated and driven from Ukraine, they won't have anything in the tank, or any tanks for that matter. How many Russians die is up to the Ukrainians, they are the ones killing them at a horrific rate and ratio. Expert opinion that I follow has them clearing mainland Ukraine by fall or before and cutting off Crimea to take the following summer, or this one if they are lucky on the mainland and make a quick job of the Russians. There is an increased risk of nuclear war, but if you have an understanding of what will happen to the Russians and Russia (extinction) the chances are low, Vlad and everybody in the chain of command knows, the Americans made sure they understand. Europe is all in on this war and of course people are going to go about their lives, but the war in Europe is right next door and the eastern Europeans have very strong feelings about it, having lived under Russia's thumb. It is an imperialist war of aggression by an imperialist empire, and a violation of the UN charter and international law nothing more, Countries like ours who live by the rule of law (quibble if you wish) must enforce international law while supporting another liberal democracy that lives by the rule of law and has a great PR campaign! Countries used to just have interests, not friends, but in this increasingly interconnected world public opinion counts a lot, as does shared values, so these days friends count a lot.

What the fuck are you talking about? ME liking trump? Are you motherfucking higher than Johnny Cash sitting in a goddamn bush eating cake with his hands?
I don't like Assange, and nothing in the world you will ever say will make me like the criminal piece of shit...period.
I read the facts of the case, they haven't changed...so i don't plan to either.
He isn't a hero, he's a dirtbag piece of shit, and that's all he'll ever be.

Well its a trump thing this war against the press. I'm not sure trump did anything good but it sounds like you do.
Not many people like Assange. The case against the press isn't about Assange. If he was likeable then the case would of already gone away. I didn't say he was a hero. He just made public Americas war crimes and the illegal CIA surveillance of its very own citizens phones, computers etc. Something that Americans should of been made aware of i would of thought but the trump administration kinda whitewashed over all that. Maybe a small % of Americans dont care about their own committing war crimes or being unknowingly spied on by their own intelligence service? That wouldnt surprise me as the new generation don't seem to care about apps tracking them and collecting all the persons relevant data they possibly can. Imagine what FB has on us all? I wonder if there will be a future FB whistle-blower? Who would they go to if the press couldn't publish it?
Imagine there not being a Watergate because the journalist and the publisher would of got sent to prison/Gitmo. Whistle-blowers need Free press. It's what protects a Democracy.
People are either for freedom of the press or not. Both choices have negatives. One has more positives. People rarely change their views so you do you.

Hero is a word that gets thrown around way to much these days. Every soldier isn't a hero, every fire fighter isn't a hero, every cop isn't a hero. Its not a job description is a rare and special trait that often comes to the fore in a split second. Throwing the word around diminishes its meaning.
