I hear ya brother

With me being surrounded here in CT by states that sell, my sales went way down & I had to reduce price by around 30%
The money just wasn't there anymore so I stopped like over a year ago but had enough stashed to last until around 3 months ago.
Since I ran out, I got a little from a friend but mostly from stores that sell that commercialized shit in packaging that's always a motherfucker to open.
Anyone else have that problem?

Anyway, my herb is better, (at least I am told that) & sold at a competitive price, so there's no problem there & the novelty of the stores is wearing off, so I think I'll put some seeds in & grow 12 plants which is 1/2 my normal so I'll will reduce my cost 50%., which is very important now.
Before with 27 fixtures running my bill was over $400 per month, $300 above normal.

I'll do 12 in a perp which should give me around 40 oz or so monthly, which is 1080 grams X $15 per = $16, 200 gross per month.
That's perfect World shit though with all plants producing 3.5 oz in hydro indoors.

That very rarely happens.

Anyway, I miss MY HERB!!!!!!

MINE, MINE, MINE!!!!

Seriously, I thought the other stuff could/would be better.

It ain't

Anyway me thinking about growing has put me in the mood for some of this :)

Legalization has lead to the same thing here in NS, I can buy an ounce of 20% bud for $120CDN, less than a hundred bucks American. When my grow partner got sick and passed away last year I gave up growing and I'm gonna disassemble the grow. I might start a couple of plants in a much reduced garden, I don't have any compassion club clients since the pandemic and CBD went out of fashion. I might just use a small array or build an air cooled light and move it upstairs to my office. I suppose I should order up some clones for the back yard greenhouse this summer, but I had trouble even giving stuff away from the last grow in there. I told the guy across the street to have at it last fall and he came over and chopped it down.

Pot packages are way to hard to open up! There's no way for a small farmer to compete with a large commercial operation, if the government doesn't go nuts with taxes. However it's still worth your while to grow yer own if ya like to smoke pot and want to smoke the best. Some people I know grow auto flowers outdoors up north, but even in a greenhouse ya gotta have the right strain or cover them up in June to induce flowering early enough.

So I'm gonna disassemble the indoor grow soon and I'm looking to give away lamps, COBS and drivers.

So sorry for the loss of your grow partner. Same thing happened to me in 2017, lost my partner, but not to death. I lost the passion soon after and now have only small grows for me.
I never sold any. Just gave it away to friends and family and friends of family. One year (2003?) I gave away six pounds at the Midwest Marijuana Harvest Fest in Madison, Wi. Just handing a couple grams to anyone I met. Got a couple of neat strains traded, a couple of shit strains, too.

I was running a small grow and had my buddy harvest it for me, then I didn't want to bother with the grow and we cut a deal to split everything. He came in the basement and did the everyday work, towards the end I kept it going for him and sold enough to friends to cover the costs. When he passed away I was even reluctant to go down into the grow, all the joy was gone. I quit smoking frequently for a rest/reset and my for my practice, so the guberment dope will do. I still haven't made up my mind about what to do about the garden though, I might have a small grow of a couple of plants upstairs in my office, we will see. I'd like to help some younger person to get setup and would help them with equipment, but I think with the legal availability, home pot growing is going out of fashion with the younger generations. Why bother unless ya like to smoke a lot of pot or make concentrates.

As long as dispensary prices in Illinois are $20 to $30 a gram, there will be motivation to grow your own here.
I'm hoping this is just a lull. Ive found every aspect of growing my own to be intensely rewarding. That can't be lost.
There will always be pot growing hobbyists, just not black market grows, the numbers might be less in the future, but hey, people still make their own wine and beer!

Prices were high here in the beginning, but the black market forced them down, I was selling ounces of prime bud for $140, but pot sold at government stores is around $120/30gm for 20% Indica and you can buy it online from MOMs here for as little as $99/30gm. All the commercial illegal grows are sold at online dispensaries here, it's legal to mail pot, so if you supply an online seller you might have a market, but I imagine competition is fierce on price and quality. If you can hook up to this market there is a connoisseur bud market.

Here is an example of Canadian online dispensaries, there are a lot because I imagine some do business under several online fronts. Pay by bank interact transfer, but only in Canada! This is what federal legalization looks like when they want the provinces to compete on price to eliminate the black market.

Partners in crime, I wonder how many Russians have money stashed there? Places like this enable corruption and mass poverty that kills millions of people every year. Imagine if there was no place for them to hide their ill gotten gains? This is where most of that American foreign aid money ended up folks, it's mostly American taxpayer money that was stolen.

Boytrytis grey/gray mold/mould is easier to spot with some varieties of LED lighting.

We had a dry Spring, with less than 3 inches of rain from March through May. Then we had over 3 feet of rain between June and the end of November - twice with over 4 inches in 24 hours. With nearly a dozen different strains, and 50 plus plants, its nearly impossible to escape having some issues.

I had a battle with WPM last year. It was all around the neighbourhood, no way to avoid it. I’ve been here for 5 years and last year was the first year I’ve had to deal with it.

I think its more than that. 50lbs *16 oz a lb = 800 total ounces. Then you need 800/x = 4oz/6hrs to get to your hourly trim rate, so 800*6 = 4x, x=1200 hours to get 50 lbs trimmed at your 4 oz per 6hr rate. You are trimming 1 lb in 24 hours, so 50 days straight.

This is the sort of stuff that bounces around my head when I can't sleep. Sure is a shame weed prices can't really cover the overhead to get it finished properly anymore.

I tried out the silicone brush method for trimming this year, I liked it and so did my hands. Wound up with nicer looking end results as I tend to be lazy and quick with scissors and end up leaving too much leaf.
Plant branches were trimmed with a table top trimmer, then hung to dry. I just need to destem them, grind the buds up and tumble to extract the kief. My tumbler can fit 3 to 5lbs at a time and run it slowly for about 3 hours per load. The dry sift is collected at different times throughout the tumble.

The kief can be combusted as is or pressed into hash. I've decarbed some kief, had it lab tested, then stuffed it into 00 caps for a 66mg sugar free gummy alternative.

When you're done tumbling, do you make oil with whats left over or is that just trash at that point? I used to make kif from my trim leaf and lower budlets, then pour 90% iso over what was left.

Wow, that's crazy expensive. It was forbidden to sell here before legalization, same as now. The difference is the consumer now has a multitude of choices. It's hard to move anything at $30/oz delivered, so most of it will be given away.

The focus this year will be on growing more food and teaching others how to do it too.

Yeah, Illinois is a torn state between the big cities and expansive rurals, so some bullshit had to be spoken for in our legalization laws. Mostly it's taxes, but a lot is NIMBY.

Some varieties are more susceptible to PM than others. I defoliate a couple times during growth to minimize it but I had one (out of 6) AK47 plant that was super disease resistant, while one I didn't even harvest due to septoria - brought in by rains. These new designer/candy strains don't all fair well outdoors.

What's left over goes into the chicken pen for bedding. It's so abundant these days, it's just not worth trying to squeeze every last bit of goodness out of it. It used to be quite different.

I had my suspicions after giving my dog flea/tick Nexguard or some version 10 years ago. After about week to ten days she would doggy scream and climb on me to be as close as possible. I told the vet and she gave me doggy valium for those times. I told her it was the flea medicine she disagreed.

Next dog same exact thing happened first dose he had and I recognized immediately.

My vet never told me but if you read the package insert you'd see what this stuff is capable of doing.
