Hello all 1st time grower looking to get going, Need some advice. Got a small plant sitting on the windowsill doing well its juts bagseed but i ordered some white widow seeds from a shop in dublin should arrive tommorow and i want to take this serious and get some BIG BUDS!

Need sone advice in lighting wise honestly which is he best to go for i will be growing 4 plants in a closet, with an external vent (with tubing) providing air into the closet. Im already attached to my small one and think it might be male but dont wanna throw it out lol

Any sites you guys recommend for lights and that? cheers :)

I dont think I can recommend the same site again, people will think Im biased or something...I have made recommendations in the last few pages tho. Id say for 4 decent plants you could go 400w HPS? That'd give you a decent haul and wouldnt be overkill.

i always use damp kitchen roll in a zip in de hot-press, 1/2 inch is good to go into soil.
carefull of the traproot, i like to use the womans tweezers (dont tell her) lolz

Cheers the bloomandgrow site right? the best one going? iv read about 300 pages of this thread lol what Kelvin rating is on the 400w HPS and can i use it to flower too? will i need a ballast? what strain would you recommend? and should i get the 16L plant pots or are 10L big enough? Cant wait to get going

HPS can be used for all stages, its around 2200k I think. MH can be used for veg, but most just go all the way through with HPS. Try the Airpots, they'll have them soon afaik and if your not sure about lighting, just get a 400w kit. Costs around €190 I think but all you do is hang it up and plug it in. Iv only ever used 10L pots but have never had a problem, you cant really grow a tree in a tent ;) Would recommend Canna nutrients for veg at least (its all Iv used them for so far), my plants are actually perfect this time round (apart from where I got nutrient mix on a few of the leaves and they got little burnt, but thats my fault). Just start at 1/4 or 1/2 dose when you see any slight yellowing/lightening for the first time.

You gonna use a tent with proper ventilation? How much you wanna throw at this? Just bear in mind you'll get pot unlike any you can buy on the street, most of the time better than Amsterdam coffee-shop quality if you give a bit of care. Iv spent probably about €600-700 on my setup, and Id spend it all again if it burnt down just for the quality you get and I find it a hobby now too.

im from Ireland too :).iv used 200watt clf lights for my vegging and flowering,i know its not ideal but it worked out good enough.
got my light from plug and grow.but i threw in a few normal clf lights in got in tesco for a bit of extra light

haha yeah man im trying to save up for a decent HPS set up,but dont they get really hot? you'd need proper fans and shit would ya?
you wouldnt have any idea how long it takes space cakes to kick in,made a fuck load there ate 2 and now im just waitn :/

Anything up to 2 hours, but they could last up to 5.

Its comes in waves btw, so be expecting waves of it first!

I dont have much to be honest 200 euro would be at the end of the gauge for now, Until i can make some money. i have a closet painted flat white its about 4 foot wide 4 foot deep and 7 foot high. with one of them long tubes for above cookers and that which i plan on hooking up in there. If i just get a connector for the bulb can i just hang it above the plants or would it be worth my while getting a reflector or just buying a full kit? How hot do HPS get? Canna nutrients got ya il buy that. Yeah i cant wait to try out this weed the best iv smoked so far was Amsterdam Kush from the headshop that was a good year ago. I was actually stoned for 3 days haha! all the rest around here is a rip off bad quality. Yeah i love looking after my little plant i have so far watering it and breathing on it for extra CO2 lmao!!

yeah man i grew four aks in my closet,I used 200watt cfl plug and grow and a few normal cfls you can buy in the shop yano.worked well for me,I think the cfls are great for closet grow because they dont give off much heat at all and there fairly cheap compaired to MH or HPS.Cant find the site I got the light off atm but i will and il tell ya

You could get a 200w CFL tho (about €100ish with reflector), they do grow really good plants, just top the plants and keep the bulb really close, they really do produce if you growing on a budget. But Id always recommend HPS, you could get a small 250w HPS?

One thing to consider, even one plant will SERIOUSLY smell your house out once it starts flowering.

How many could i put under the 200 watter? i think il go for the HPS Not sure yet though how many could i put under the 250w? what would you recommend getting along with the 250w a refelctor?

Yeah theres already a small smell of my other one and i havent begun flower yetr

A 250w HPS kit is around €160 I think and thats generally bulb, reflector and ballast. You could probably grow 3 decent plants if you arranged them in a triangle under the 250w. However you could grow as many as you really wanted, just Iv found recently its better to grow less but stronger plants than just filling the space I have with them. I used to want to grow 9 plants under a 400w hps, now I find that 5 is just about the right number to get the most into the strong light footprint.

If you have space left over, you can have space to experiment with cloning, etc., its how I learnt how to clone.

Haha its so damn hard trying to decide which lights to go for with the HPS it having a low K output its not really worth vegging for long how long do you veg for?
