Youd be surprised. Ive had pike cut 80# mono leaders like scissors. Braid slices easier than mono or floro imo. #’s is #’s. Ive had bass break 20lb like nothing. Smallest imperfections in line, add rocks etc.

That is what sucks about braid. That and no stretch when you would want it. But I love it for mainline usually

I went to braid exclusively as mainline on all my reels. Spinning included

Tying leaders is easy and can switch line types /size almost instantly not to mention atleast two or three time’s service with zero memory

I’m mostly braid here too bro. When we’re firing 2oz balls of lead as far as you can with a 8.5-9ft rod bank fishing for kings, and with a spinning reel, it hurts. some of my friends do it but i rock casting reels fuck that shit lol.

I used a little bobber in the river so I could adjust the depth of the drift and get it into places I couldn't really cast to well. Sounds crazy and the in-laws used to give me crap abut it, but I would out fish them most of the time. We always used "hellgrammites" we collected from under the rocks. They were actually salmon fly larva.

We used to camp on the river ,and collect balls of Hellgramite.Bout a pound haa haa

Palamor knot to swivel is my goto knot with the braid.

I am not a freshwater fisherman, but 80lb braid would be fine for a 200+ lb bluefin.
What kind of protected species you planning on dragging in with that gear?

One thing that pisses allot of us off when fishing catching sturgeon is when heads are purposely using light gear and it takes them days to land it. Bring that fucker in, and release already. Or keep whatever but a longer fight than needed really stresses them out if they are going to end up being released

If you catch a bunch and put them in a bucket,ohh he'll I get it!

I just had a bar that went between my main engine and the kicker, low budget.

I had that on my trophy worked great but this thing, if i wanna do zig zags, from point A to B i’m doing zig zags. Pretty cool shit. Really helps if there’s wind and i’m trying to fish and drink beer. I got no time to fucking steer the boat too
