I'm not a coco guy. I do know that multiple daily fertigations to runoff are recommended. Working on a catch basin of some sort would be highly beneficial to your set up.
Agreed. I use a tray in my flower tent, drained to a bilge pump then a 5gal bucket until full then emptied. Growth from coco/dtw is great. But I enjoy the taste of organic (sun grown) herb.

Since I do not have a catch tray in the 2*4, I am planning to omit drain to waste feeding. I mixed in a few amendments (will do again) and fed the plants beneficial bacteria brewed feed (1.6ec), essentially running this system as a synthetic/natural hybrid.
  • If I keep trellis, I will not dtw feed, use more amendments and lighter feeds.
  • If I remove trellis, I will feed dtw, use less amendments and a higher ppm feed.
  • If I get a catch tray, I will not have to worry about 'this' or 'that' and setup an automated system for watering.

Thanks for your input, @cannabiscrusader. Hope you a good one ~ :blsmoke:

Yeah, np man. We're here to help, be easy

Greetings ~ I had taken the advice and opened the testers using bamboo. This had created a couple scenarios having 9 (small) plants in a 2*4 tent. I will keep the bamboo and work with it, just sharing my observations for anyone interested.

Problems
1. 9 plants already have limited space being packed into an 8 sq.ft area. Now plants have almost doubled in width after opening, the tent is crowded, plants/leaves sitting on top of each other.
2. High/low light levels: When training plants with a trellis net, one pulls higher branches to the side while raising lower branches to same level, giving relatively the same light levels to each part of the plant in the net. With bamboo, there are high/low levels of light penetration since canopy is not leveled creating uneven lighting to the plants.. higher: tops, lower: bottoms.

Solutions
1. Being able to move the plants freely to feed, train and observe from all angles.
2. Being able to feed dtw over the bucket until another catch tray solution is procured.

Today, I brewed and fed another batch of beneficial bacteria feed including Cap's biowar root pack and yucca.
Ingredients

Bubbles! ~¼ tsp yucca in 2 gal feed

01/16, 20 days from flip//45 days from sprout

Hope everyone is having a good one. Peace ~

To clarify on the bamboo training ~ the input is/was appreciated, as I was leaning toward this decision prior to asking the forum. I'm using more floor space now since they're spread out and even though there's varying light levels, more light is reaching all levels of the plants. I also enjoy removing and working on the plants individually. Thanks again for the encouragement, @cannabiscrusader.

You were already there boss, just gave you a nudge. Lots of peer pressure round here :bigjoint:

Excited to see where it goes!

They liked that tea last week
Definitely ~ the coco is compacting in the pots, I'm planning to add another layer of coco with added amendments early next week. I will include ingredients in an update.

Looks good @k0rps ! How's it smelling in there?
Thank you! It's not too strong at the moment, I don't notice any smells unless I rub the stems. Each have their own unique smells but noticing how the Rainbow Beltz crosses have a similar "limey" stem rub to each other.

Greetings~ a few updates for the thread.

Coco was hydrated, mixed with straw and amended with Dr Earth's 4-6-3, rock phos, ewc and oyster shells. Pumice was left out since this mix will be used as top soil/mulch for the pots. Lightly defoliated.

I sprayed for pests this morning.. hopefully there's none, but slower growth is indicating something's up. It could just be lower heat (75-78°f day//68°f night) but not counting on it.. I plan to also give the tents a high heat treatment to kill any pests(eggs) hiding/residing in the tent.

I hope everyone is doing well ~

Trichomes & oils bringing in the smells. All 9 plants are still in the tent. Temps have been a bit on the lower side, higher humidity is triggering the exhaust fan to pull more (cold) air. I've been contemplating removing a few of the testers to allow space for favored plants.. But since this is a test run, I will allow each plant to finish so we may observe the integrity of the stock.

Using 1gal pots for flowering seeds is definitely not great. These beans would have thrived in larger (2 - 3gal coco) pots with a wider surrounding space. For for the sake of the thread, we'll call the events which led up to the testers remaining in the 2*4 tent and 1gal pots, "stress testing". The only sacs found have been on a couple of the PJxRB(f) lower sites; they were plucked off.

Hope everything is well on your side ~

Edit: looking through the thread, the bucket photo reminds me of a pack of thugpug..

It sure looks like the understory lighting is being used for the big hands and it's getting pretty thick in there!
Won't be long and things are going to be flopping around here and there...

Beans came in today, thanks so much @k0rps ! I'll definitely be returning the favor. Crosses sound like a sweet ride through flavor country on the mj slow n steady. I don't know what that means, but I'm picturing a really slow locomotive with bails of weed in the coal bin.

I'm starting the first 5 this weekend. You know it's gotta be the orange Creamsicle x western grail. Hoping for some creamy chunk orange funk!

I'll make a journal and post a link here so I don't gum up your lovely little ganja genetic pistil powder pot production plant experience with my nonsense.

Thanks again man!

"All aboard!" I appreciate you sharing your grow space. Thank you! It's definitely a pleasure to share with the community.

The orange creamsicle cross should be an interesting one! The clone I had smelled exactly like an orange cream bar. Not my cup of tea as far as flavors, but it was a nice, strong high. I think paired with the Western Grail, it should be even more stoney bologna. Hope you enjoy ~

Looking forward to trying your creations soon! Red Eye Jedi, yeah? Do you have plans on which plants you'll cross?
