Sweet. Sounds kinda funky. Should I probably expect 9-10 weeks or so to flower her offspring? What's the sativa in the background?

Texas Butter still going fairly decently. Dawg Lemons still kinda wants to be an asshole, but growing and stretching.

** Since I had no real intentions of letting them live very long anyway, I haven't exactly been treating them very well. With 3 tents going now, those 2 plants just haven't been much of a priority at all.

I am assuming 9-12 weeks just to be sure, hoping sooner than later. Last cycle I had taken my clone plants to 83 days and noticed how much more full they are than harvesting 10 days prior. Without raised CO2 levels the plants take a bit longer to ripen, ime.

Good to hear they're coming around, even if it is just for the experience of "stress testing". They could still turn out to grow decent plants.. seeds can be a fun gamble. Some runt plants I've grown out before have turned out to be the tastiest flowers, yield was not good but it was a nice treat. Others that were eh.. I've used for oils.

That was the Vietnamese x Vintage Afghan :bigjoint:
Probably be a good while before I tackle them. I'm thinking you'd described that one as having a 'giggly' type of buzz, so it was hard to decide between Meat Pai and the Viet Afgh X Meat Breath fem. Between the cheap GPS gear I was stocking up on and all that you sent, I've officially got too damn many different strains to try now. I could probably grow 3 different strains each run for the next 2 years without having to repeat any. I guess not a terrible problem to have.

Yup, the sativa is full of fun, but it does take a different skill set compared to an indica "wide leaf" short plant. I think the MBxVA mix would show great F1 hybrid vigor, similar to the Banana OG x LCG cross.
Definitely not a bad problem to have, my pleasure. I'm grateful to be able to share with the community here. I've learned quite a lot and it only feels right to give back. Thank you for growing them out! :weed:

Day 15 from sprout. Here they are this morning after being fed (1.6ec dtw). Photo's levels were adjusted so plants can be viewed without the harsh light. I'm open to suggestions on photo editing..

Last day in 3*3's before transplanting seedlings into 1gal containers and flipping into 12/12 to start the flower cycle. Looking forward to seeing how they flower and sharing.

Hope everyone is as well as possible ~ :leaf:

Edit: after reviewing the thread/pictures, Dec. 3 was when the testers popped above the media.. notes have been updated.

12/26 is *Day 24 from sprout.

Day 27 from sprout
Day 2 of 12/12 (first day of 12/12 I label day 0)
20231229_094249_copy_1662x1246.jpg

Seedlings were transplanted 12/27 and were put on a 12/12 light cycle the same day. They've been watered in (600ml) and will be allowed to dry back (~3 days) so the pots can fill out with roots. I have found this method works best for my practices. Once they develop their rootball and start drinking regularly, I feed them every day and twice a day at the peak of flower.

Today, 12/29, a few of the lighter pots were given 250ml shots to keep the coco wet and "balanced" with the heavier pots.
  • Stem rubs of the Rainbow Belts crosses are coming out similar to the donor "father", "limey mango", or like a pineapple guava is how I could describe it, very enticing.
  • Banana OG x LCG plants are coming out very nice; thick structure, big leaves, has more of an earthy stem rub..
  • Grape Fog plants came out super delicious, very tasty in my opinion. Has a grape Hi-Chew candy smell and taste. Clone came from tissue culture.
  • The mac1 has an oily limonene stem rub in veg and stacked buds with gooey resin in flower... She's amazing, Capulator, "A job well done!" Great strain. Stoked to have it in the garden.

Some others in the small tent are Glitter Bomb, Gelato 33, Tuscan Gelato (big structure) and Nimbus Snacks (terpinolene). And.., I have lost all cuts in the fridge due to my own ignorance..

The vents in the freezer were blocked.. so it couldn't regulate, kept pushing cold air into the unit and froze all the cuttings. "Keep the vents clear" should be obvious, but it just wasn't on my mind.. it's okay, feels like the pressure had been lifted by no longer having to "work through" them at this time.

I've recently picked up a mini fridge specifically for seeds and holding backup cuttings. Also looking into getting another tent so I may be able to continue working/flipping available genetics. Such a blast to grow and share F1 crosses..

(Forgot to post this the other day..)
The seedlings have been transplanted into a 3:1 coco & pumice mix with ¼ cup ewc and ½ tbsp Dr Earth's Home Grown 4-6-3. I usually add a full tablespoon scoop per gal, but will add it or other amendments later in a 'spike' or as a top dress. Watered in with beneficial bacteria enriched feed ~1.6ec, pH @ 5.9

Day 3 12/12
After 3 days of not watering (besides the 3 that were given shots day 2) and roots coming out of the pots, the testers had been given their first "full" 800ml dtw feeding over a riser/bucket combo. They could have used another day without feeding tbh.. I'll wait another 3-4 days before watering in again, unless they need it.
20231230_133814_copy_2422x1815.jpg20231230_133732_copy_2152x1613.jpg20231230_133800_copy_2284x1713.jpg

Since there's no catch system in the 2*4, for now I manually carry the pots and water until drained, then place them back into the tent and vacuum any residuals after ~15min.
20231230_134319_copy_1554x2074.jpg

They had an early "supercrop" training by pinching the main stem, carefully rolling the stem to loosen, bending it back and forth and finally bending the top towards the direction each was being trained. I would usually wait to train but putting things into high gear this tester cycle.
20231230_130405_copy_1629x1318.jpg
Gave them a light foliar spritz and turned off main LED to prevent any damage and fan for a bit so they can absorb the solution. Once dried, will switch on the LED timer outlet to resume regular schedule.

Overview since switching light cycle to 12/12

12/27 -D0: 600ml feed, flipped & transplanted
12/29 -D2: 250ml "shots" to lighter pots
12/30 -D3: 800ml dtw feed, supercropped
01/01 -D5: 200ml shots to lighter pots
01/02 -D6: 900ml dtw feed
01/03 -D7: allowing pots to dry back at this stage gives roots a chance to seek water, filling out the pots
01/04 -D8: 200ml to lighter pots, supercropped
Next:
01/05 - D9: 900ml dtw feed, defoliation

Age of plants are flower day + 25 days from sprout (besides LCG s1: -6). Example: D2 = 27, D8 = 33 // LCG D2 = 21, ect.

01/06 -D10: Testers defoliated today, large fan leaves on main stock removed. Yesterday, the pots were watered with an 800ml dtw feed. Will possibly move to feeding every other day depending on how much they're drinking.

01/11, D15:
Testers are now being watered on odd days starting from 01/07, D11. All plants are now showing pistils. Will keep an eye out for sacs.

The 9500k 18w led bars were dropped to the floor, flipped upside down and now adding under canopy lighting. Trying it out for a few weeks to see how plants respond to the spectrum. If they grow too weird/leafy, I will remove the bars and keep the main 240w 3000k QB. For now the goal is achieved by adding more lumens to the lower canopy.

Notes:
These plants have been pinched to create calluses along the stems/branches, helping to keep plants shorter by sending auxins down to lower nodes. Only clone that has been taken is from the (top right corner of 2*4) CMxRB plant: super dAnk stem rubs, big leaf & structure, hollowish stems (fast growth). A pinch of boric acid has been added to the foliars to help combat hollow stems; it has been working well, stems are getting sturdy! To 1 liter of water I'm adding 1ml Calmag, 1ml silica, 100mg seaweed extract, 100mg boric acid, adjusting pH to 6.2.

Quicker drinking plants may need to be watered everyday starting soon. Temps/rh aren't ideal in this tent.. Day is 72-78°f//65%rh. Night is ~68°f//60%rh.. currently being fed ~1.8ec (dtw) modified Jack's including 0.4ec tap.

Thanks for visiting. I hope everyone has a great day/night! Peace ~ :leaf:

01/13, Day 18 from flip
Bottom/inner leaves have been plucked off. Sucker branches were cut off and turned into clones. I used fishing line to thread the trellis netting, creating double the amount of squares. It was then was placed on top of the canopy and branch tips were put into individual squares.

I'm still on the fence (no pun intended) about the trellis netting for this tester cycle. I have plenty of bamboo to stick the pots and open/tie the plants like usual. Although the netting is up and threaded, it just doesn't "feel right".. time will tell. I will revisit this in a couple of days and make a final decision. Feel free to chime in! For now, I'll keep as is and let it ride.

I hope everyone is doing well and having a Good & Blessed One. Peace

Looking good boss! I'd go bamboo, only because you said you have to pull them out to water. That's what I do for my testers too. The bamboo, that is. I let mine sit in the runoff and slurp it up with saucers underneath. You can snag a 20 pack for $10 off amazon. I also use dr earth, the 4-4-4 and 3-9-4 with ewc

Thanks for your reply. Pulling plants out and watering over the bucket is a great reason to use bamboo, although I am/was planning to water with ½ to ¾ strength nutes (not dtw) to make up for the lack of runoff in the coco.. not the best solution, but works okay.

Still, moving plants in/out was my main concern. I personally haven't flipped plants this early so had no experience with how much they will stretch or if they will even stretch at all at this point..
They were given 16/8 lighting when sprouted until day 25, then given a 12/12 schedule.. 44 days into their lives and they're sprouting flowers. I'm thinking it's most likely due to the small pots and root systems wanting to bust out of them. What do ya think?

I use a nutrient calculator to keep track of elemental ppm's of nutrients and ratio profiles. Has been very helpful in my coco/dtw growing journey. An example, 2n-1p-3k-2ca-1mg flower ratio:
Screenshot_20240104_074734_Office.jpg
Not exact, but the calc gives a good reference. The nutrient calculator was found on this forum. Thanks again, RIU community! :weed:
