Tesla New Model Unveil...

There is a lot of potential in wave and tidal power on the coasts at least, solar ain't much use in Canada, wind works better up here. I see the oil companies are big on geothermal as a way of leveraging their expertise, tech and capital, I would expect things to happen in that area because of the players and infrastructure involved.
Ya I was at my first GEO conference 30 years ago and it was taking off then lol. But yes to bad it’ll happen after I retire as that is my expertise so to speak.

It looks so bland and boring. Also has fisher-price build quality.

Taycan turbo s is so much better. If musk cared about the planet (like he claims) he would let other manufacturers use his charger network.

No one can convince me 2 plus tonnes of lithium and plastic is good for the environment anyway.
.other manufactures haven't put any $$$$ into charging network, they pawned it off to 3rd party investors.

When I looked it up, it was avg 3 miles per kWh.

I consume less than ten kWh per day in my house.

Excepting 110 degree plus days. I live in the desert.
Pretty sure your math is wrong even using a “forum” for your citation. It’s, let’s say 3 watt hours per mile as per the forum worst case. Also only read the first post. That’s .3 kWh per mile so 3 miles would use .9 KWH. My math could be wrong as I accidentally took a double dose of gummies late last night and still a bit foggy (no pun intended lol).

Moving the goalpost, sure I knew that would happen too, but I don't care. At least when I was wrong about the keys, I fully owned it.

They're obviously better than an equivalent class gas car in terms of gas/oil usage.

But seriously if you refuse to see the issues with manufacturing 5000 pounds of batteries and tires and plastics, then I'm just not going to get into it with you. I'll concede upfront, teslas are not at all dirty and are made from smiles and blueberry bagels.
Well at least you’ve moved from “their rolling clusters of cancer, just like the rest of them” to “their obviously better” ....... that’s something lol. Glad Fog helped you become more logical but I think you need to work on your anger issues next lol. You seem to be getting desperate........ full throttle for 30 miles, hehehe.

Holy shit dude, get out of binary mode. When it comes to consuming gas/oil as part of daily use, they're obviously better. And when it comes to manufacturing the vehicle itself, they are almost certainly worse. It's not one or the other, it's both.

Full throttle is from the Times, go complain to them about their "desperation". The article isn't binary either, because the Times aren't idiots. They're able to see the negative aspects *as well as* the positive aspects. Around here, people refuse to acknowledge any of the negative aspects, and yet, even though I've talked about both, it's all you can see.

The only thing that's irritating is talking to people that can't read. This is just standard idiot stuff where any discussion of something negative about something you like, feels overwhelming and it's all you can see. I'm not a tesla hater, or even a musk hater, but I think it's what people assume when something negative is mentioned. If you can't acknowledge something good about something you don't like, or something bad about something you do like, you've failed logic 101, or got an A in idiot 101, however you want to look at it.

I love electric stuff and have probably been a lot more involved with it for a much longer time than any of you. I flew electric airplanes for a decade and manufactured them for a few years. I was in there at the transition from ni-mh to lipo back in the etec1200 days, the first lipo's to come to the consumer market, soldering up my own packs for a long time until they became commonplace. I have probably a hundred tesla cells sitting around here in my office. I have three battery backup boxes I custom built with solar charge controllers and solar panels to charge them when the power goes out. I worked as an electronics tech for a handful of years. I can't express how down with solar/EV I am, but because I'm not a dishonest sack of shit, I'll be first in line to talk about the negative aspects.

Not just cheaper, but smaller/lighter with better efficiency would be great. If their strategy is, as you say, to make cool(i.e. wasteful) cars first, *then* to actually get on board with being green(i.e. efficient), that would be excellent. It's just that they're sure getting some mileage out this cool part first. Fist car was sold in 2008.
Very few folks buy the cars you describe now as ICE vehicles. Add e-money to that and there is just not a market for them right now. The reason the car guys build so many SUV's is because that is what sells.

Very few people buy salads either, hence the leading cause of death in the US, but that doesn't mean I'm going to embrace it.

I think he is trying to get us off of gas . I dont know anything about Taycan turbo. I like the look of the Plaid. It’s not too flashy and has some incredible features like safety and it’s so streamlined. I think cars like the Ferrari are so ugly . I did see a black corvette in the parking lot yesterday and I must say, it’s looked so damn appealing . The plaid does seem like a very dangerous car. It can go from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds . That’s insane. I am not sure if the some of population is responsible enough to have that type of speed . For instance under 40
And over 65 should be restricted from owning one.

Over the next 5 years there should be lots of EV options and several battery technologies to choose from. Every auto maker on the planet is investing in EVs and battery technology, it will be mandated in many places within a decade. Much depends on developments in battery technology, there is much promising work being done and big players are making big investments.
