1st bag I ever got was schwag Mexican weed. 1st good bag I got was called chronic... Lol no b.s. I'm old...
I remember the two choices when i started smoking, was reg mexican brick weed, skipped that lol

Or for some odd reason the other option was just "Dro"

do not know why they used a method to refer to herb, but im guessing back then people thought the new stronger herbs had to be grown hydro-ponically, which just is not true...But still entertains me when i reminisce and the dealers options were, regs or Dro LMAO

Back in the day it was either chronic or bammer. Then late 90s when medicinal came around we started to get more educated about strains starting with northern lights, white widow, catpiss, train wreck, sour diesel, etc. Funny how those are still some of my favorites all these years later.

Oh man, i wish i could find the Chocolate thai from the early 90's, What a great strain, now its impossible to get a cut of it
Thai sticks where before my time:( unfortunately...I may have dabbled with it / don't remember anymore

I thought chocolope was something similar?? maybe flying dutch "thaitanic" or dr. atomic "thailights" IDK but they are known to be a bitch to grow indoors and herm easily i think.

good luck in finding it though.............It's funny how we go back to the "originals" in most things we consume in life now (heirlooms/non-hybridized/gmo free). One big circle friends:)

good conversations in here tags

Found this, best describes what I have known about the strain, and theres a pic of a real dark stick at the bottom... has that flavour to me that could make me instantly transport back to the time, same as when i find a true Jack Herer, the taste is impeccable... Anybody have a Jack Herer they swear by and is closest to the original?
:weed:

Chocolate Thai is a famous Cannabis Sativa strain of the 1960s and 1970s. Chocolate Thai was popular amongst cannabis aficionados in the early nineties due to its high potency. Now regarded as a "commercial" low-grade product, "Chocolate Thai" lost its popularity due to the introduction of strains of cannabis with much higher levels of THC in the late nineties, such as G13 and White Widow. Chocolate Thai is a land race Sativa from the former Kingdom of Siam.

A Seed Company Reporting on the CT they Utilized:
The Chocolate Thai had a classically thunderous, soaring high that immediately won everyone’s preference. Unfortunately, the superb quality came with a 14 week flowering period price tag. The buds were incredibly aromatic and resin coated, but very spindly, with strings venturing on their own out of the thin main floral cluster, giving it an overall skimpy braided look. Curious structure, definitely landrace looking, but hardly productive even outdoors. Our Chocolate Thai source had warned that to obtain a reasonable yield outdoors, his method was to crowd many plants in a limited space outdoors, in a style reminiscent of hemp grown for fiber.

Another Seed Company tries to Re-create the C-Thai Experience:
Chocolope still delivers traits many growers sought from the classic Thai strains - choco-smokey flavor and a dreamy high with a strong mental shift. If you are trying to alleviate anxiety, nervousness, or lack of appetite, the Chocolope id your strain. However, smokers who are sensitive to paranoia or psychedelic effects might approach this variety with caution. Even experienced smokers sometimes report unusually comic situations due to the "high school" like stone of the Chocolope. Some consider this advice a recommendation: the chocolatey 1980s high is a euphoric and trippy blast from the not-so-distant past that can spice up any weekend.

Forum Members Memory:
It was actually Tied to a Stick with a red string, and it would make you very sleepy after two or three puffs. Anitsheep remembers the red string
The last known sightings would have been around 1984ish

Another’s Memory:
Yea, I remember the Thai Sticks back in the mid '70,s but they were really golden brown color, wrapped super tight about the thickness of your middle finger and the length of the baggie. 15 bucks
Chocolate Thai

Another’s Memory:
I remember when I was in high school (mid-80s)
we used to get this 'Chocolate Thai' that was out of this world.
Unbeliveable flavor, great buzz.

DJ Short’s Memory:
The Chocolate Thai was another being entirely. Chocolate Thai came in larger wrapped sticks of a deep, rich, roasted coffee color and a coffee-chocolate aroma that was heavenly. It is my uncertain estimation that the Chocolate Thai was a lowland variety.

The imported product itself was unique not only in its aroma and flavor but in its strength as well. This was a dreamy, sleepy, narcotic high that was long lasting and consistent. The aroma possessed a deep, rich chocolate, appeal.

The seeds, many of which were pure black, were extremely small and round. They were few in numbers and only a few would sprout. The plants that did survive were terribly difficult to grow, and all were hermaphroditic. The leaves were long, dark and slender, with most sprouting trichomes early on. This strain was successfully crossed with the Oaxaca Highland to create what came to be known as Purple Thai.

The Purple Thai was a cross between an outstanding Highland Oaxaca and a very freaky Chocolate Thai.

The Chocolate Thai was one of the most difficult plants to grow. It was dark and very asymmetric, rarely sporting any kind of a definite main-stem for any length of time. It was difficult to clone and very hermaphroditic, producing small airy buds at best. The herb from the Chocolate Thai passed the test (the progeny were at least as good as, if not better than, their parent), but had certain problems otherwise (structural and hermaphroditic). It was also similar in potency to the Highland Thai regarding strength, length and type of high.

Widow used to be the dankest thing I could get and was the legend around town. Now days it's the value buy at most clubs. It's nothing close to the widow I used to get. SourD was the most common by far, and I actually love it...but it's like blue dream(also love it) in that everyone grows it so I never grow it.

I came round after the medical was in place so everything had already began to commercialize.

Yes widow changed the industry at that time.....something new and a great name IMO............everyone wanted it and everyone was selling it but most where fakes.... couple guys where importing it through "government" services and getting top dollar on the east coast.

I remember my last dabble with the ancient great Chocolate Thai was around '92
Damn you got thai sticks in the 90's? it disappeared here in philly waaaaay before then. lucky you:)

Edit.....I think the original jack herer was from sensi seeds? Not 100% sure though

Back in the 90's. High school days. My brother was going to school at UC Santa Cruz campus #8 or #7. He would come down with a big bag
like a half p of what he called Wash Bud ( from Washingnton). It was neon lime green
smothered in crystals. So sticky it would stick to the bag and tear it when you try to take a bud out. To this day. The stickiest weed I have ever smoked. Have not seen that since. Very sweet and piney flavor. Almost like widow but not as train wrecky ..

Oh:shock:............I'm not getting into this fight again!:P...........it is NOT a true perennial (no dormancy, will not retain or shed all leaves through winter, and return next spring with same quality/potency or at all)

I'm talking about those assholes from Doggie's nuts seeds and their big bad john strain which apparently I can't find

edit: found this joke of a strain https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/the-doggies-nuts-seeds-big-bad-john/prod_3154.html love the price too:P

Do you really think BC Seeds has somehow specifically chosen what cannabinoid’s develop and at certain percentages? How would that be possible?

There are so many joke bean companies out there. Before most everyone was decently educated about growing weed and the science behind it that shit would fly...but now most see what was happening. Doggies nuts hasn't dropped anything new in quite a while. Most of the original/pre-medical companies that claim to be out of Amsterdam or something, have had nothing new in a while. Now the real cali/colorado breeders rep that they are from the states. TGA, Rare Dankness, Cali Con, DNA(lots of norcal activity), DJ(oregon),GGG. The best genetics are from/in the state and since the legalities have been letting up over time it's no secret anymore. I do belive there will be a shift to stabilize stain more here, like the dutch did. Right now it's a F1 fuck fest...but once legal/more legal... bean crops could be a bigger market. But as of now americans make great F1's and then pick the winner pheno then clone the shit out of it...and that's the only one that matters, they don't all have to be winners. But when you get a pack of sensi skunk#1 its almost all identical.

I thought weed plants can live for over 10 years?
Only if you reveg and other things that are very far from natural selection. In the wild they spout, do their life, then die. Closer to an annual then a perennial.

Do you really think BC Seeds has somehow specifically chosen what cannabinoid’s develop and at certain percentages? How would that be possible?
It's all bullshit. If there was a strain that had more than even 30% most everyone would know and want to grow it already. 28%ish is about the highest I know of. Many factors come into what a grower's THC will be...grow being one of the biggest factors.
BC bud depot is the only canadians I would possibly trust and even then...AMERICA, Fuck Ya!!!

Are there local dispensaries you can check out? If there vendors are local too you might be able to get something good from there, at least you will truly know where they came from?

Ya that definition of perennial they give is a fucking joke, not to mention you have to have a male around to pollinate, or are they taking the interesting spin on things that you want to herm... Then they say it is an autoflower, which is it a perennial or a plant with quick exp. date?
Tags, no love for serious seeds? have heard good things about their kali mist, and the warlock.
