So does this apply to professionalism? Am I wrong when I cut resumes because of misspellings, and never even call them in to interview? To me that shows the individual does not have pride in what they do, yes I am a perfectionist. I want the all around best people for the job. Is it wrong to expect people to speak properly when dealing with customers? Is it ok for people to say "wuts up bra" to a customer? I think not.

yea IMO it is(well depends on location). I'd prefer they said that instead of "Hello, let me know if their is anything I can help you with"*Fake ass smile*. It seems more friendly and like something a real person would say. idk just more like community than global franchise I guess. Down home shops and whatnot.

It was just an example. I dont know, maybe its just me but I pay attention to how people speak and carry themselves. Just like a handshake. I cant stand when a man shakes my hand and it feels like I am grabbing a babies hand, I like a good strong firm handshake. A weak handshake tells me that they have a high probability of being a meek and timid person, and is easily intimidated. A strong handshake tells me they are confident and secure. This has just been my observation over the years.

Okay see now in some work places it's okay to say wats up bra. Like i.e. DTLR and other purely urban establishments.
You could get cussed out in a Buger King. I've been to a burger king and dis girl who thought she was someone tried to cuss me out cause i ordered somethin she didn't feel like making and when she got it wrong she popped off on me shows how much people care about the workplace
You will def hear the examples i gave out before in a urban workplace. But business wise like you said naw i wouldn't go up to my boss and say wat's good bra even if i was in the working. The boss proly be like huh
and will never look at me the same. When it's time to talk proper everyone should know not to use your regular talk in a business world.if i have trouble reading a post because of grammar i immediately back out. if you don't have the time to learn to spell properly i don't have the time to help. sorry, it just shows how willing one is to put forth effort. if you can't take the time to spell how can you take the time to grow? 
I would have fired this person right on the spot. It does not matter if it is Burger King or a fortune 500 company. Attitude is everything. Which gets back to negativity and being positive. Speaking slang at inappropriate times can be misconstrued the wrong way by certain individuals that may not understand.

Agreed, I ignore a lot of posts because I cant make out what the hell they are asking. Then the poster gets pissy because no one helps.
and comes back with perfect grammar.

Lots of excellent points made through out this thread. I have been lucky enough to hang out and socialize with people ranging from crack dealers to bank presidents and everyone in between. The secret is to fit in with who ever you are with in order to succeed in life.
If you are applying for an office job or job in the public eye you aren't going to wear gang colours too the interview. Likewise, if you are a banker you would be wise to dress more casually and be less prime and proper when approaching people in a ghetto. Little less severe around Toronto than say LA but of course the premise is the same and you can see social stratification wherever you go in North America.
On a website such as this everyone basically shows their true colours. I just happen to agree with the Dannyking and RKM. It is funny though because in person I get along with everyone and my best mate (he is English) is a true THUG. He is my brethren, my brah, my nigga even though only one of us is half black and the other white, my boy, you name it we have called each other it. I still get pissy reading his poorly written MSN messages. lol <----- my worst offending internet slang typically

Exactly how I feel. If you can't be bothered to even TRY to communicate in an intelligent manner why should I bother to try to decipher your gibberish?
I think text chatting is ruining the younger generation. My pet peeve is "wat" instead of "what." I just want to smack a bitch when I see that. Of course in 100 years we'll all be spelling "what" as "wat" because of text-chat-speak.
