February 25 Update

I still haven't moved anything new into the flower tent, they're all on day 25 now in there ... both blue cheese have stopped stretching and are starting to fill out nicely .. the one in a 3 gal appears to be filling out faster than the one in a 5 gal .. both appear to have used up a lot of nutrients from the original soil and the lower fan leaves are starting to fade out .. I just topped the pots off with more soil and that should get them through harvest just fine

The GSC and Blue Cindy were definitely flipped way too soon for being topped so many times, I don't expect much of a yield from either of them, but I'm curious about their quality ... i pulled the blue cindy apart today to open the crowded inner growth, and that should help a bit .. both are healthy though and also got topped off with soil today

The bagseed is still looking like hay.

The veg closet is rocking .. dealing with a fungas gnat problem lately and I started soaking mosquito dunks in their water ... if they work anything like they do outside, they'll be toast soon ... still letting the Bubba Island Kush and MOB veg a while longer ... starting to sex and fine tune the babies to find my greenhouse keepers for the spring

March 3 Update

Flower tent is still plugging along on day 33 ... still haven't moved in anything new, and I'm still only using half the tent running one Redwood. No pictures of the flower tent today but next time.

The weather has been unbelievable in Mass and I've been working outside to get the greenhouse ready again ... will be bending my new steel hoops this week and should have it all put back together by April 1. My spring lineup is coming together nicely, I've been on a tear buying up Mass Medical Strains over the last few weeks... I've never grown out their gear, but they're in the same area code as me and they get rave reviews... so I have to give them a shot ... so far I'm committed to 3 of their strains in this years greenhouse... Putang, Grape Pupil, and Drippy Eye (limited drop, only 42 packs in existence).

I've also been washing what's left from my 2019 outdoor buds to make room for the new ... I find that nowadays I prefer to smoke good hash much more than flower, in fact, in the future I plan to only keep the very best... maybe 10%... as flower, and the rest will get washed.. I have a Bubba Island Kush heading to the flower tent within the next week or two that I'm thinking I may just wash directly from harvest ... no drying, no freezing, nothing ... chop it, buck it down, and drop it in the ice water within 5 minutes ... I just defoliated it last night, gave it a shot of Neptunes Harvest this morning, and it's off to the races...

LSD wash
The darker temple ball is 73u-119u ... the lighter temple ball is 120u-159u ... the little horseshoe is what I pulled from the final clean out wash, probably about run 8 or 9.

Jack Herer wash
I washed this on 2/22 and i still have it drying in a pizza box ... will probably press and ball this as full spectrum (73u-159u)... this was the best tasting flower from my 2019 outdoor... I've been testing out the bubble and the taste is even better ... I can't wait to crack this ball someday

Cindy will fool you into thinking it won’t produce, but light feeding will prove otherwise. I’m about to pull one down in a week or so and she’s rock solid

March 10 Update

It's been about 30 days since upgrading the veg closet and moving the Timber Daisy's in there... the plants love these lights! .. and I love that I can move them up or down as the plants get taller or as babies move in...

At the moment I have three that are on the verge of moving to the flower tent ... on the left is an Alaskan Purple I just defoliated it a couple days ago, and topped for the last time, she has her final 16 tops now..... in the center is MOB, this one has extremely thick, hollow stems and doesn't take too kindly to heavy supercropping. I lost one of the tops being too aggressive, but it's in the cloner now showing nice roots. I'm not cleaning this one out too much and I'm letting everything just go. This I plan to pull a bunch more clones from, and all my friends will be getting MOB clones for their outdoor gardens this year. Once I'm done pulling clones from her, I'll clean her up and she'll go into the flower tent.... On the right is Bubba Island Kush. This one is the closest to flowering. Every week I keep saying I'll move it next week but I change my mind, one of these days I'll pull the trigger. I defoliated this about a week ago, she's bounced back nicely and handles all forms of training really well.

The flower tent is still only holding the same five plants... all on about day 38 since 12/12. Still only using half the tent and only one of the Redwood VS. One of these days I'll fire off the other light and have a full tent, but for now, half is all I need.

IMG_3782.jpg

Blue Cheese (12) ... nice looking plant, makes me wish I put the other blue cheese in a 5 gal ...This plant made me realize that for the size plants I'm growing, 3 gallons is too small, 5 gallons is even too small, I'll be going with 7 gallons from here on out.

IMG_3777.jpg IMG_3778.jpg

Blue Cheese (11) ... the fans are fading fast on this one in a 3 gallon ... it certainly chewed through most of the nutrients in the soil and I top dressed with my soil inputs a few days ago... hoping that'll get me through harvest.

IMG_3772.jpg IMG_3773.jpg

Girl Scout Cookies ... I feel kind of stupid calling this "Girl Scout Cookies" when we all know it's not the real thing ... The breeder is Blimburn and they created this by crossing (what they believe was) GSC with Green Crack... I believe they should have given it it's own unique name to avoid confusion, or being a direct rip-off... what's wrong Cookies & Crack? ... or Crack Cookies?... whatever ... but I can say that I'm really surprised with how her buds are shaping up ... small rock-hard nuggets that really started frosting up lately... I wish I had done a much better job training this one and also wish I vegged much longer ... luckily I pulled a cpl clones from her and they're all rooted up nicely.

IMG_3763.jpg IMG_3764.jpg

Blue Cindy ... Like the GSC I did a poor job training and should have vegged longer... i tied her back a cpl weeks ago and that's helped open up the lower bud sites well... but overall I'm not very impressed with this one ... the buds don't seem to be bulking up and the smell is nothing spectacular ... maybe this one will surprise me in the end,

IMG_3760.jpg

Bagseed ... This one is slowly starting to make me believe in her a little more each day ... definitely a bit stretchy and the yield doesn't look like it'll break any records... but the buds are starting to fill in nicely and the smell keeps getting stronger every day ... I still can't pinpoint the smell to determine where it came from, but I'm still guessing one of the NL varieties I used to grow outdoors. Jury's still out but I have renewed hope she won't just end up in the hash pile.

March 25 Update

Moved three more plants into the flower tent and fired off the other Redwood VS a cpl days ago. Everything that went into the flower tent on 2/1 is finishing up. The 2 blue cheese (back left) are probably the closest... I haven't started scoping the trichs yet but they look like they have another 7-10 days before getting the chop ... the bagseed (close up) has progressed incredibly well and has by far the biggest buds, but still tons of white hairs so I bet it has another 3 weeks... as the buds take shape I can definitely see the resemblance to the Northern Lights I used to grow outdoors, smells like it too... The GSC is coming along nicely, not a big plant but the buds are by a mile the hardest I've ever come across, can't wait to try this one ... the Blue Cindy continues to disappoint, all of it's fan leaves have some kind of rust going on and they've pretty much all wilted and died ... I've scoped it several times for bugs but there are none ... I tried a little superthrive and it helped a tiny bit ... whatever is going on with it hasn't really affected the buds, but they're small and the smell isn't anything special... I'll let it finish out and see what I get but it could end up in the hash pile

Coronavirus can seriously go fuck itself, but at least I'm able to get a ton of stuff done preparing for the outdoor season... I have a bunch of different strains started and I'm going through the selection process now ... the greenhouse is almost rebuilt and I'm hopeful most plants will be outside by 5/1, weather dependent of course. I was able to break out the worm bin and collect a bunch of castings yesterday. Every year in the fall I dump my bins into one big rubbermaid, and move them into the basement next to my water heater.... I think they actually do better indoors over the winter than they do outside... I think I'll keep a bin going indoors this year even after moving the bulk of them to the outside bin .
