Progressives seethe over DNC chair Perez's decision to back Cuomo in NY primary fight

In an unexpected turn that rankled the party's left flank, Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez on Thursday endorsed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's re-election bid.

His announcement, at the party's state convention on Long Island, comes in the midst of a feisty primary campaign between Cuomo and actress Cynthia Nixon.

"You've been delivering results that have made people's lives better," Perez said in his speech. "That's why Andrew Cuomo and (New York Lt. Gov.) Kathy Hochul are charter members of the accomplishments wing of the Democratic Party, and that's why I'm proud to endorse them."

He said it to snub Progressives(tm). So do I.

I think its more a potential vote of no confidence in Seattles leaders. Since we cant abstain from closing borders on some issues, Seattle housing market rise is partly due to Asian influence, bleeding from Vancouver Bc. There are literally dozens of factors making up this circumstance but everybody on both sides wants to box into a single issue framed for their sides indulgences.

I mean How come nobody is decrying the fucking poor in Omaha? Berkshire could stand to lose a few mill as well?

Also fogdog voted for a hardcore dem Wyden who flopped on timber subsidies in #1 logging state in trumps favor. Also dismisses that Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Google and microsoft all have huge energy subsidized data centers in Waldens district, ie hard conservative, why would all these ultra liberal companies locate to the consevative desert of Oregon.

Did I mention that Wyden represents Oregon?

He has a very good record of voting for critical progressive bills. He also defends jobs in the logging industry. He's not a slash and burn type and his work seeks to balance salmon protection with logging but he definitely protects local jobs in an industry that a lot of people depend upon.

Logging can be a renewable industry if managed properly. That's the stance Wyden takes.

Clear-cutting is not renewable logging and a high proportion of logging wild land is still done that way.

Just because it can be done does not mean it is being done, even if it's a good idea. America is terminally stuck on short term gain at the expense of long term consequences.

I agree. This is yet another reason why government regulations are fitting and necessary. It is sad this is even a matter for discussion.

Is that not how it's done where you're from? In the southeast we planted more than we took, still do. It works well. Don't blame america dude start locally if that's the real problem, after all America is just a bunch of nations with a United agreement.

When it's a national issue, I use national terms.

Keep in mind that you're just repeating industry marketing; original forests were clear cut, then replanted with single species stands of 'super trees' that bear no more resemblance to a natural forest than a cornfield. The biodiversity is gone, as are the vast majority of wildlife.

I used to live in Arkansas, prime Georgia-Pacific territory, so I know what's really gone on.

We need to preserve and manage actual forest, not just industry friendly rows of pulp wood trees.

I never have understood the beef people have with the data farms located in rural districts. So, why reply to a what seems like a dumb argument? Maybe you can explain why Oregon's rural areas can't have a few good jobs in tech?
