But what product do you use in Canada?
Here in Canada our options for home use of pyrethrin containing products are limited to what is can contain due to consumer regulation. Most available up here contain pyrethrin and soap (fatty acids made by combining potassium hydroxide with vegetable oil or animal fats). Here's one example of such a product available at Canadian Tire: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/safer-s-end-all-concentrate-500-ml-0591131p.html

When I had to battle the “ Borg “ I used simple techniques… first mix up a 1:1 iso spray with 2 drops of dawn … instead of rubbing alcohol I used Everclear ( food grade grain alcohol ) , nuked the fuckers on the spot . I would hit stalk , stems , nodes , leaf …
in 3 - 15 minute stages ( time between treat ) then pressure rinse corpses.

I would do daily until managed. No hard chemicals. If Borg sticks to buds then I resort to a bud wash at harvest …. Simple dunk and twist , shake and hang.

Alcohol will penetrate waxy insect exterior and evaporate quickly. Quick knock down . Eggs will show discolor immediately.
Never had to use any synthetic insecticides.

Summertime is the worst .
For sure summer is the most common time for borg invasions around here. It's the time when we're all spending time outdoors gardening and stuff and it's so easy to forget and check on our indoor plants when we come back inside the house after without taking a shower and changing clothes first. Opps! ;)

Ideally the light schedule should be set so the plants are sleeping during the day and can't be disturbed or checked on. That way you're forced to do any plant chores right after your morning shower and putting on clean clothes and don't mess with them for the rest of the day. Keeping pets that go outdoors out of the room where your grow tent is situated is something I should also mention. And oh boy... house plants. Once the borg mildly infect your houseplants without your knowledge, you'll be tracking the little buggers everywhere and you'll never get rid of them.

I just found spider mites an hour ago on two of my three plants, and the first thing I thought of was your caution about bringing the outside in to your grow room @Northwood :wall: I’m sure that’s how I got em. We had the heat wave as well recently and no issues before, but my IPM has been shit since flip.

I’m about halfway through 5th week of flower - plants otherwise very healthy (save for some light burn… sigh). I didn’t have time to treat before lights out, picked off a handful of the worst leaves, wanting to make a plan for tomorrow eve…growing in organic living soil.

I like the iso and habanero spray approaches - I just want to hit em hard while the pops (seem) low. I’m assuming treating the soil will be needed as well, and a full grow room sterilization after this run?
