Spider Mites - Chop?

Dilute 100% isopropyl alcohol with water and spray as mentioned above.
I like 70% water and 30% ISO.
Leaves no nasty residue as the alcohol evaporates.

I personally would never dust a flowering plant in diatomaceous earth, and when it gets wet it’s like sloppy mud.

Just up your IPM for your next run and you’ll be back on track.

Good luck

I disagree with the bailing out/ chop. You can easily deter mites to lower pest pressure and even if high pressure those kind of mites ( vs broad/hrm) are not gonnea degrade ur over all buds as they are leaf eaters. de-leaf it 90% and spray with 1/3 70% iso 1/3 sals soap 1/3 vegetable oil or canola. Apply at 1oz per gal, apply next 24hrs again, next day 1/2 oz per gal . I suggest mixing this into water and stir it but wait 10-15minutes before spraying. Spray in dark and have min 3 hour before lights on .key is spraying 100% of leafs exp the underleaf.

yes iso degrades but not enough at this rate to worry and def will kill ur eggs, all stages of those species of mites . the good news and main reason I‘m explaining this /replied was I didn’t see anyone explain these mites won’t eat ur buds down but also like many pest once u dry it they will leave ur plant. once chopped down they will literally go onto the tip of ur stem and scout. If you go in first 3-5 days if pressure high and use iso and wipe the tips than ur even doing another mode of eradication.

don’t make ag/farming out to be end game, youlll be fine but remember in future IPM and prevention and scouting is key ! Yes you’ll get crop but those bugs did fuck with ya, it’s the keeping super low pressure or none is key and you can def do it in future. farmings a lesson in itself and more issues more u appreciate when u can overcome and not have those issues.
For sure I appreciate your thorough response. I'll return the insecticide i bought and try your remedy. If nothing else, its unappealing to look at all the eggs and know there are little bugs crawling around in there lmao. But good to know the buds won't really be damaged more so the foliage.

Question then about prevention, is it a good idea to get some DE on my next grow and sprinkle periodically in the soil to prevent this from happening again? This is only my second go at it, and I don't know a lot of practices for IPM.

Not a bad idea, it has its place and is great in veg.
A combination of DE and neem work well along with a weekly spray of any of the mentioned products above.
Some have a longer withholding period so just double check before flipping the plants.
The spray I use has an 8 week withholding period, I run most strains 10-12 weeks so can spray a couple weeks after flip and still be safe, after that it’s diluted isopropyl alcohol if needed.

You are not going to like what I am about to tell you, miticides and no pest strips is only way to stop them. You are too late for miticide this time, but might as well get ready for next run because they will be back.

I found aphids and a few mites very close to harvest. I heavily defoliated and plan to bud wash. Tried some alcohol/ water solution spray with minor success. IPM is in my future. Ive learned my lesson. Looks like you have a ways to go yet. Eradication would be great or population control a close second. Bugs suck.

I ended up getting some of this. So I'm safe to spray directly onto the plant and buds? Just making sure.
NO! Also spinosad sprayed in flower is a no go it will not pass inspection lot of folks use it, But its not listed as safe to smoke. Never ever use DE on a flowering plant WTF! So you can take a chance of poison bud or smoke some mites?

Ya nothing like inhaling powdered glass.
Who said put it on buds?

Anyways I remember reading or seeing something about simply using a string to catch the mites. You'll have to dig for the info if your interested. Basicly to sum it up tie a string between 2 infested parts of the plant then tie a string 2 the middle of that string and send it straight up but away from your plant. The mites will scale it. They don't like to go down so they quickly collect on the string for removal. I've never done it... don't know if it will work or 2 what degree it will work. Just a thought

Who said put it on buds. The cows you eat eat it. Its called food grade for a reason. I suggested stalk and under lower fan leaves
How the hell can the op just hit the stalks an lower leafs 1 pump of that duster buds will be filled with DE, Its a fine dust an should never be used indoor Ya you can eat it but VERY dangerous to inhale If it was me i would remove you from this site for recommending DE on flowering plants indoor wacked bro. Some of the worst advice I have ever seen here in yrs.

U would have to work with it daily and inhale large amounts for it to damage your lungs.

"Many people worry about accidentally inhaling DE. If you accidentally inhale DE, it can irritate your lungs, but it won't damage them unless you inhale large amounts over many years."

We r talking about one light application using a very controlled application method.

Have a good day
