hey all, im growing a seedling, and it seems a little small. cant get any pics as of yet, but il try and describe it best i can. its 9 days old, general temps are at 22 centegrade, has intake fan, and extraction fan going, also a desktop fan blowing at it, to strengthen the stem. The seedling is about 3 inches high, the first true leaves are normal in size for the age, however, the seedling has another set of leaves growing, yet those two leaves only go upto the end of the cotyledons, and they are quite thin.
Is this normal growth for 9 days? I thought 9 days indoors, it should have about 3 nodes now etc?

your good rem feed then h20 no nutes for at least 3 weeks then feed half strength 1 week then pound them full strenth my opinion only way i do no nut burn health plants until they get foot tall play it safe seeds do take a wile once thare 6 inches tall prob take off 1/4 inch growth a day depending on lighting so on

that foot tall thing^ can't be used. some people grow in a p.c. box and keep their plants extremely short. lol. it's about how old the plant it. use 1/4 strength nutes after 2-3 weeks. then use 1/2 strength for 1-2 weeks after that. then full strength. that way it works into the full strength gradually. but do more research becuase different people have different ways of doing it that work best for them. if you're using soil, check to see if your soil has nutes in it already. and also be patient. it takes time to grow. sounds like you're doing well man. keep it up.

It's a tiny bit behind scheduled but it's nothing to be too worried about. 3" high with only two true leaves is a little tall (stretched),
you should lower your lights.

Start off with 1/4 strength nutes when the cots begin to die

im just anxious about the growth, since my last one failed miserably lol. then again, this time doing things a lot different. The soil im using, is westlands multi purpose compost with added john innes, have the seedling in a starter pot (will be transplanting next week). have it under 1 20w 2700k, 1 30w 2700k, and 2 20w 4200k bulbs. will be replacing one 4200k with a 30w 6500k this week, as soon as i get my light connection, and adding another 30w 6500k bulb. its growing in a pc grow box for now, until i move the seedling into a bigger pot, inside a grow wardrobe. the soil im using already has nutes in, so i am only giving it water, and will continue to for a few more weeks. the water has been left to stand for a while, so the ph should be ok (havent got a ph tester kit yet)
just was worried about the growth and size, as some people have loads of nodes at 12 days etc, and mine is nowhere near that!
this is 9 days from sprouting out of soil, not from germination btw

the lights are already about 2-3 inches away from the seedling, i might try lowering the lights, see if it does anything, my 30w bulb seems to be quite hot for a cfl, burns my hand anyway lol

i've never phed my water. and i just used tap water honestly. my last grow was outdoors and i just watered with my hose. you can see the plant i grew in my picture. when you start having nute problems you should start ph testing shit.

yeah, i have a bag of john innes number 1 just lying around, maybe should have used that instead. will it slow growth a lot if i change the soil now, or should i just wait until i transplant to a bigger pot?

theyre overwatered? only sprayed the top of the soil a few times tonight, theyre def not overwatered lol. yeah, i think theyre a little small too, but im hoping its just the strain im growing. moved the lights to the right a bit lower down, so theyre even closer to the seedling, hopefully that will help things a bit. do u reckon its a good idea to put them in the john innes soil, or should i just keep them in the soil theyre in, until i transplant?

Well they're displaying symptoms of over-watering with the puffy looking leaves and droop. Like this over-watered seedling:

They should be more perky.

how long does it take for that pot of sticks and dirt to dry out?

yeah i thought they maybe were a bit droopy tbh. the pot dries out in about 2 hours, have never (so far anyway) gave it a proper watering, only sprayed it a few times, to saturate the soil. i spray it about 3-4 times, each day, like i say though, have never gave it a proper watering yet, which i would wait a few days in between waterings if i had

I don't know what it is if it isn't overwatering as the symptoms look identical to overwatering, but there is something that is causing it to droop.

I have successfully transplanted 3 seedlings into different soils before just by brushing the soil away and only keeping a small rootball
concealed in what's left in the soil. The first two experienced a bit of shock but they came back up and the third didn't have any problems.

It's definitely risky to change the soil at this age. I wouldn't recommend it if droop
is the only problem and growth is steady.

since yesterday, the only growth seems to be the second set of leaves, and that is a very small growth tbh, like it looks like its only grown about 3 millimeters lol. im hoping it will grow better when i replace the 4200k bulbs with 6500k ones. maybe the drooping is because the lights are a bit far away? or because the temps? i dunno, just hope it doesnt get worse. looking forward to transplanting, yet cant do that atm, til i finalise the grow wardrobe, as in get mylar, etc

As long as there growing you should be fine .. I am a little behind you on my first grow and see signs of drooping with my second leaves so for the past day n a half I haven't watered but a slight mist, .. it will take time just be patient <---(something i'm trying to learn :P)

Better slowly growing at that stage than wilting or have an ill look to them.
