you are wrong. cfls have to be closer because the light doesn't go as far. the mylar reflects barely any light but it's still a little extra than what it would get without. i would bet money on why it's small. don't get me wrong. you have a lot of lights so i'm sure it'll be okay. but it would excel if they were side facing it

soil looks dry but not too dry i dont think they are over watered
light could be closer if there was more dirt in cup when planted can be back filled to under the water leaves
i would use tube cfl because they are cooler and can almost touch before they burn
also 6500 (blu) for veg
3500 (red) for flower

give it a few weeks, youl certainly get a lot more growth lol. Im hoping I will too! I need to get y connectors myself, and at least when I put the bulbs in the wardrobe (which i still need to deck out, put mylar in, get ventilation and intake in, get filter in, basically everything!) I can hang the bulbs a bit more around the plant, position them better etc. I was thinking about getting 1 300w dual spectrum cfl, with reflector for about £55 off amazon, just need to get the money lol.

friendlyperson, what I mean when I said the lights would be further away if I put them to the side, is that if I put them to the side, because of the pc case, and it being clipper lights im using, the lights wouldnt be able to be close enough, as in, the way I have them now, they are really close, if I swing them to the side, because of the pc case, they would be further away, its because of the angles. If I could put them to the side, I would, but like I say they would be further away, so would lose lumens.
Thanks only :) when I planted, the soil was right to the top, but somehow, the soil has compacted down lol. Still airy etc, so should be ok. By the tube cfls, do you mean the long strips, or the cfls with long tubes attached, similar to the one in my pic (to the left, the bigger one?). The lights, as you can see in my new pics uploaded yesterday, are closer than the day before, and last time I checked, last night, the plant had grown a bit, like taller, and the second leaves seem to be growing more :)

you can always move the plant into better position. right now. it only needs like one bulb. it should be one of the higher kelvin bulbs thoguh if you choose to move it.

do you think how many lights ive got on at the moment is a bit overkill for the seedling? if it is, then using just one or 2, i can make it so the plant gets all the light from the side, if not, then putting two to the side, it will affect the other lights, and the plant wont get the suitable light from the others lol

thanks, with the size as it is, i was worried lessening the lights for now would have a negative impact to the growth even further lol. suppose itl save electricity too, every little helps lol

don't think its overkill because i just moved my setup like i said yesterday and have that 85w right over both of them with cfls on the side (just ordered another 85w) and there showing a lot more growth the main leaves are spreading for new leaves to take place ... seems like a change every 6-8hrs (also using superthrive in water every other feeding at the moment). Ill prob start nutes next week some time ... 1/4 str of course

hmm, lol. 2 totally conflicting views side by side lol. maybe, i think i prob will keep it the way i am, but try to move them round a bit to get it a bit more side lit, il try anyway. i think it would be a cool idea to set up a camera, to see the change each time, like one or 2 pics and hour, over a few days, to see the growth, and to keep like a diary, may do that :)

:D I've thought of the same thing would be neat, shows how they move around to find best spot for light as well, the life in them.

As for the lights i don't think right on top of them is the best at this age but i keep the 85w about 3inches from the tops and the sides around 2.5 and they stay very cool between them.

his 85 watt bulb is putting offmore light than all your tiny bulbs combined. that's why. it's not an apposing view point, just a different set up

ah right lol, fair enough :) still, think il keep the lights on, more light cant hurt after all, but try to put it a bit more to the side, prob tomorrow now, as im quite high atm lol

ive turned off a light now, now there are only 3 lights on, the 30w 2700k, and the 2 30w 6400k bulbs, ive moved the plant, so its getting all the side lighting from the 2 bulbs, but also having a bit light from the 2700k one, see if that actually does anything more positive, or stays the same, as there doesnt seem to be much growth today

yes it does, BIG TIME (especially seeing all these beautiful females on this site lol) sounds good on the lights ... i've seen some growth 2day.. cant wait to get the other 85w they seem to help a lot just wish there was more height to them a lot more new leaves starting but height has slowly progressed, maybe pull my lights away... always heard cfls grow bushier plants (unless u keep lights far throughout your whole grow). STILL looking around for different nutes to use since I don't have much for options from stores.. grabbed a schultz plant food plus but I've heard good n bad things about it..think ill start nutes in 5-6 days at 1/4th str.

im hoping il see some decent growth soon, as in the second set of leaves grow to the same length as the first set, etc, will keep checking over the next few days, hopefully the side lighting idea will work a treat. Yeah if you havent got much height happening, prob is because you havent got the height for the plant to grow into, see, I have the height that seems good for the age, but not the growth on the leaves, hey, swings and roundabouts lol.

Also do you have a ph meter yet? I'm using distilled water and ph'd it but it seems to work on n off ... its a cheap one but theres so many meters out I don't know which to go for.
