Seeking clone advice! [bless i]

Hello guys,

so Im going to be receiving some clones from a friend of mine this week, and wanted to ensure that I have everything set up correctly as I am a novice grower and want to reduce all possible mistakes. My current set up consists of;

120x120x200 [centimetre] Grow Tent
2 x 300W CFL's
4" Carbon Filter with RVK Fan
4" Inline Air Extractor Fan
6" Air Cooled Reflector
600W MH & HPS Bulbs
6" Oscillating Fan
Canna nutrients [full pack]
Heated Electric Propagator Dome

I am aware that using the dome for the clones would be ideal although I am more concerned of how to maintain them once they arrive. I recently tried to maintain 4 small clones in just my grow tent and found it very difficult and resulting in them shrivelling up and dying on me. I think maybe it was due to shock or change of environment or maybe just my novice self at fault!

My question is how would I approach the setup of the environment before they come [tempreture/humidity] and second, how would I maintain them in the dome [or not]. Any advice is greatly appreciated so thanks in advance.

But do the clones come rooted?

But do the clones come rooted?
The ones I received previously were only slightly rooted. What impact will that have on maintaining them? Will it be easier to maintain ready rooted clones and also how would I go about maintaining non rooted clones. Thanks again bro!

It makes all the impact. Well rooted clones you can transplant into what ever you want and easily maintain. Non well rooted or not rooted clones you'll have to root or get rooted enough to transplant.

Your plants died the first time due to a common universal to all straina/pheono problem. That known problem is clones have no tap root so we have to carefully develope the root system before putting them under intense light. That is done by not placing them close to the lights at first, a couple feet out should be ok. This will make the plant want to stretch, but she needs roots for that so she will make roots. When you see her reach towar the light move her closer to avert her actually stretching.

much respect bro. I'm going to mirror your response. How would you go about maintaining an unrooted cutting in a propagation dome and would you use nutrients during this stage? Love & Light

Bro thats going to depend when your guy set the cuts, and how they came to you. Like dome on or dome off. Cant imagine getting unrooted cuts though unless that was your guys agreement.

I don't give mine much direct light at that stage. I put them under a single 2 foot fluorescent until I have pretty good roots. Mist with Maxicrop Kelp or Island Organic Seaweed if you can get it, plain water if you can't. You don't need a dome if you have the time to mist them. Also don't put them directly under the light when they first arrive. Wait until the next day at least.

I want to first explain I have never used a dome to root cuttings. I used an Aerocloner for years but I recently switched it to a Bubble Cloner. I do not typically give nutrients to cuttings because I want them hungry, searching for food and to make roots in order to find it. But if they became extremely pale I would likely foliar feed with Cal Mag Plus. I don't want Nitrogen in the water because it is hard on roots.
