Seedlings disappeared

Hi all

come home from work slightly confused. 2 of the 3 new seeds sprouted 2 days ago and only 1 is left standing. No evidence that there was ever a seedling in the soil haha. I’m growing in a greenhouse so I’m guessing something had a go at it. Have to order a couple of fast autosfor delivery before the winter comes

Mice or chipmunks

Bugs...ants might do it, you can watch them carry it away one piece at a time if you catch them. Bugs just love that squishy nutrient rich yummy seedling.

Robbing bastards

Stray cat will suck them right out of the dirt like they where never there

It seems like an underground pest. Usually, in my experience, above-ground insects will leave a section of stalk just above the soil surface. What planters were they growing in?

something has took the skunk auto. Blackberry auto is still for now and the gorilla glue hasn’t shown it’s face yet but may have been eaten also. Pics not great but these are the pots around 18lt

...Did you sprout new seeds in the old pots already?

Oh, that makes sense.

I can think of one thing that might have taken the plant, but had left the other unscathed. The figeater beetle (or a similar insect, such as a Japanese beetle) is known to plant their grubs in pots as small as those, and they may have the potential to suck the whole seedling down through the dirt.

Note: 2nd attachment shows a green june beetle, a different insect than the figeater beetle. However, the grubs are practically identical.

Rodent 99% 100% if it’s impossible a bird got in.

Animals usually won’t mess with big plants but if you had two little tiny plants beside that big one a cat or chipmunk or anything of that nature would definitely steal the entire little plant and takeoff without having any tracks or showing you that he was ever there I mean bugs might have eaten the entire plant and drag it away but I really don’t see that happening

Ive never personally seen my regional insects carry plant matter away. Usually do all that on the spot. Ive seen leaf cutter ants and such on tv but nothing like that here im aware of

Slugs and bugs could def do it in a day but id suspect the tap root to be still below grade. If not, it was pulled by something other than an insect imo.
