Seedling light question

When getting one plant started through it's seedling stage (using CFL) how many watts of CFL is good to keep it going until I can use my MH bulbs?
And how far away do I keep the CFL lights from my sprout?

Well first of all start more then 1 plant. Put the light as close as ya can get it with out burning the plant.

About 3-4cm for a sprout after the forth node shows I used to hang mine about 1cm away from the top and about 5-6mm away from the most out streched fan leaves for the side lights, just remember to check them regularly cause if they push up to the bulb you'll probably kill it

dude...my seeds go strait from paper towel, to the dirt under a 400w hps...i also do the 12/12 from seed thing, so my light is like 1-2 ft. above them for a few days...then they get moved closer.

Could you explain to me how this works?? I've asked a couple of others who have talked about it but haven't had any replies yet.

how 12/12 from seed works? well you have your light on flowering schedule throughout your grow...that way with limited space, and lighting you can have a nice lil perpetual...on average i see preflowers between 2 and 3 weeks of 12/12, and the res is just history man.

as close as possible...put your hand where the sprout is and if its too hot for your hand its too hot for the plant.

How many watts is good for a seedling? 40-55?

anything will do dude...depends on how much you want them to stretch when you switch lights, and go 12/12.

I have a seedling that has sprouted 1 1/2'' in a week . I have it under an a 13 watt blue bulb (=60 watt) running 24/7. Do I leave under the blu builb for longer and/or can I add my equivelent red bulb.

dont confuse him with your 12/12 from seed method. << that is a type of growing style.

just use like 2-3 23watt cfls about 2 inches away.then when it has a few sets of leafs put the mh on it.
