Secrets from the job you probably don't know about!

So I've had a ton of jobs, in every one of them, as an employee, you find ways to get around the task or make it easier for yourself, you discover shortcuts, your coworkers fill you in, what have you discovered while working some job that you otherwise wouldn't have had you not been working there?

I'll start!

If you're ever in the southern California area, and happen to stop at Six Flags in Santa Clarita, don't order the burgers, at any 'restaurant' in the park, not only will you be paying more for less, you'll be getting a frozen patty of beef hyperdried and heated, totally processed with serve yourself condiments. DELICIOUS!

Nothing too crazy, but hopefully this thread delivers! Where have
you worked where business practices were outright ignored, or were non existent? Have you ever witnessed anything disgusting or totally against code? Someone taking a bath in the dish sink like this idiot;

But you get a free pass

If you leave something behind in a movie theater, consider it gone! (not from me, my coworkers were like hyaenas!

The most disgusting things, honestly, I've see in the food industry (Been in it for 10 years or so, about 6 different places), is the consistency in which people ignore proper hygiene practices. Coming to work with Norovirus, in my opinion, is more disgusting that somebody touching their hair or wiping their nose before making your food. It is definitely more consequential in its effects!!

What kind of sick fuck would come to work knowing they had something like that? What kind of sick fuck manager would allow someone to work with that, especially if they were in the goddamn food industry?!

If you're sick and work in food, don't come to fuckin' work, dummy! Yeah you need the money, but you will get other people sick! At least let the manager know so you can maybe get a non-food touching job that day. Although, I used to have a job where the manager didn't give a FUCK! You're sick? It's your responsibility to call someone and get your shift covered, no one is available, guess what, you're coming in, sick and all! Talk about fuckin' bullshit...

I used to work at a computer repair shop, you wouldn't believe the shit dummies leave on their PC's when they get them checked out..

What kinda stuff we talkin bout here?
Porn, toooons and tooooons of porn! Not only that, I'd get PC's with, no joke, 25 toolbars! WTF? We kept a an ongoing screenshot in the shop of the most toolbars, the leader, I shit you not, had 7/8th of the screen covered with nothing but toolbars they didn't use.

You'd get the shot of the customer naked every once in a while (awesome) because they didn't know how to hide the file, a coworker actually pulled one up right in front of the customer by mistake once on accident! LMAO! She was really embarrassed.

I looked through everything! So know, if you take your PC to get repaired, I see everything! I never copied anything or kept anything, I felt that would be crossing the moral line, but looking never hurt anyone, and some shit was questionable to say the least! Who am I to judge though, right? (had I seen something illegal I would have definitely reported it)

I myself retired from being a Sous Chef and became a Industrial cook before doing so , that job was one that I had to sign a waiver for Proprietary Recipes and Trade Secrets . It also stated that I would not become part of a competitors circle for at least 5 years lol ..

I almost said fuck this job in the beginning but the 40 k Salary + Benefits made me think twice .. Damn the secrets in the food industry are scary lol ..

Here is a little somethin I am able to share from my experience there , often the fruits in preserves and jams are pre-frozen for years and I mean years before being thawed and cooked , then it can set on the shelf for years again .. I dont eat much processed food after working in the Industry and seeing how things are behind the scenes ..

this thread reminded me of a letter to the editor I wrote back when I was 14.. about a customer who was complaining about the cleanliness of where I worked at. The had some valid points and again this was back in the 80's way before it was standard to wear gloves at the reg if you handled food.. I dont even see it much nowadays but I think that is because they have cashiers who do not handled anything but the cash.

...long time ago I worked at a place that had a restaurant attached to it. That restaurant sold Mc Food. In the building there were security guards (lots of 'em, it was a government building), they worked around the clock. Anywho, word got out that they were pissing in frozen containers of sauce, etc. after the building closed for the night. Not too bright.

...positive note - when I was 15-17 I was working at a restaurant (nights on the weekends). One night during winter, I was sweeping the floor in the dining room and saw a quarter sized spot of mud on the ground. "It's -30 out there, that can't be mud" I thought... Turned out to be hash pressed down onto a quarter. We all worked happily / quietly that night - then ate whatever we could find :)
