Rot bounded 11l pot

Hi

Sorry for title the pot is 2 l not 11

Start my Plant in 2l plastic pot. :wall:
Final pot will be 30 l smart pot
So top her today for the first time at 3rd node at day 12 from seed and now is recovery time so how much time I have in 2l pot to not become rot bounded and how much will recovery time from topping be ?

it's hard to say, exactly. the better the conditions are in your grow area, the faster it will rebound. some strains take stress better than others, and even some phenos within the same strain. i usually add a week to my expected time, for major stress, like transplanting. sometimes they don't even seem to notice, and just keep growing, sometimes they take every day of a week to get over it...
 
Really depends on medium used.but a 2ltr should last a month.best way to guage would b give plants a drink wait a little while and take pot off and have a look.sets me back a couple weeks topping at 3rd node but thats outdoors in the very cool days of spring.very different scenario to indoors all snuggled up like there electric blankets on 3 :-D

So you think I top too early ?
 
No.not really...but i do see others waiting till 5 nodes as plants bigger and stronger..but it depends what your doing really.i only top at 3 because any more than 6 branches lstd outdoors turns into a handful .but thats how i grow every ones different...

Today is day 14 from start and today I see root coming on bottom of 2 l pot so how @hotrodharley say now is the time to transplant
But I top her 2 days ago and I think that is now that recovery period from toping..I see slow slow grow from when i top
So if I transplant now that Are two stress right? Transplant shock and topping shock
What to do? Leave it couple more days in this pot or transplant now

i'd leave it a few more days. the roots are a good sign, now give them a few days to get the top of the plant growing again, get a few new leaves going, before you put it through any more stress

i honestly don't know....i try to do it early in the day, so it has a days worth of energy stored to put into both repairing any damage done, and starting to expand into their new territory...but that could be completely backwards, for all i know.....hmm...

i just spent half an hour looking, found as many different responses as there are hours in a day, and as many reasons for each one...seems to me that the best time to do it is when they're ready for it, and looking healthy.
outdoors, it seems like it is better to do it either on an overcast day, or in the early evening, when the wind is calm, and i follow the reasoning why, but with an indoor plant that's staying in the same climate it's always been in, i can't see it making much of a difference.

I use seaweed,kelp to help with the transplanting side of things.outdoors i use soil from where im going to put the plant ,so theres not too much of a shock..mines more going from a pot say 20 deg to ground 15 deg .takes them awhile to adjust...but you wont have that..

So just one more question.water and transplant.when to water before transplant.Right before transplant or day before?just want to soil stay in on piece when I transplant
So how do you do it

let it dry for a day or two before transplanting, much more likely to get it out in one piece if it's close to dry. then as soon as you get it transplanted give it a decent watering, then leave it alone till it starts to feel pretty dry, don't drown it, let it get established
