how much per gallon(4.5 liters) soil?
I do have other things added myself in my recycled organic semi soil ,
can you review list as it has been sitting 3 weeks now
watering it?
I have some red clover as a cover crop before switch from one gallon to 7 gallon. Seems to grow that or at least allow it to grow but I think I might have made it to hot so question is will clover grow if soil is to hot to flower with?
thanks
Epsom salt = magnesium sulfate.

Too much magnesium can be detrimental - the sulfate portion is in the proper form to be taken up by the plant.

(SO₄²⁻)

This sulfate is ok its the Mg that can be too much for your soil specially in a container.

So depending on your soil test result then you can make an educated decision weather or not to use it.

ideally you want say a 8:1 Ca:Mg ratio in your soil mix. If you have too much Mg your going to run into problems.

I am not worried as it seems ok & I can let sit another month .
If clover is growing it can't be that
thanks though

I am in my 3rd cycle outdoors in 30 gal pots and have ran into a problem. I have been top dressing with the standard ammendments along with EWC and compost.
My problem is now my pots are mounded which makes watering a little tricky, I have been just watering in really slowly to avoid overflow.
How would you go about the next cycle going forward with a no till mindset? Scrape off 2-6 inches and start over?
piece 1/2 inch rebar sharp one end & hammer some holes right through entire thing & odd spot under if on ground same spot always.
gets air in middle to, drier won't be so hard pull back out.

Building some SIPs out of those black and yellow 27 gal totes you find at hardware stores... Never grown organic, planning on learning from my mistakes on the way to getting great weed. starting with BAS take and bake.

Ive been told to add a little bit of amendments every 3 weeks to keep from having to pull the soil and do a full reamend, along with keeping some barley or hay over the top of the soil to feed the worms and fungi. Curious what tips and ideas the people here may have?

Also... are worms in the soil a replacement for EWC top dressing, a helpful addition, or overkill?

Yea, you can to dress with gaia green, bas craft blend, flower girl, in flower.....etc. compost is great in flower. I've used bas build a bloom in the res or water it in from the top. Barley straw works best imo. Get some kind of bokashi, like kashi blend. Worms are not a replacement for ewd. You'll need some good quality ewc. Start a worm bin if possible. Also, make sure you get composting worms, like red wigglers. Get your soil fungally dominant.

Just follow the build a soil protocol they have laid out on their website.

Thank you! I am procuring some Uncle Jim red wigglers at the moment with every intention of starting a worm bin. I am going to try the kashi bloom formula from BAS just for shits and giggles. Still need to procure the amendments, but I am hoping with virgin soil, and flowering out some longer flowering sativas, I have a bit of extra runway before I pull the trigger on them.

Soil volume plays a big role with living soil. The bigger, the better. Ferments are helpful, if you start seeing any deficiencies. Compost teas and nutrient teas, also. With living soil, it's about feeding the soil, and in turn, the soil feeds the plant.

Get ready for bugs. Lol

I dump my SIPs out and fully re-amend (dry ferts, ewc, perlite, maybe some peat-based potting mix if it's starting to get muddy. Peat or coco seems to help with aeration in a way that perlite does not), but mine are also only 11-12 gallons each. I don't think that's big enough to go full no-till, and dumping it out ensures the fertilizer gets mixed in more evenly. At any rate, my soil definitely seems to have improved with time and recycling.

I ran earthboxes no till with only 7 gallons. You can't let the plant get to big though.

They're pretty trustworthy and transparent. Watch the bas 10x10 series on YouTube. It's a lot of knowledge on living soil.
I do love that series, but right now my work schedule and life schedule are tight. Forums I can read at my leisure, the videos require an additional level of time and focus I dont really have.

I plan on flipping fast. The instigating factor for this switch is to get the most out of my vertical space when growing sativas.

I feel ya. My schedule doesn't allow for much either.
