We should just make half the guns pop out a little bang flag, nobody knows what they got. Would cut down mass shootings by half, and that half that get prevented wind up funny.

Buy yeah, its a situation without a way out. It is one where I do think you need to weigh reality vs some ideal or moral based decision. The folks sitting on the other side sure as shit aren't giving up firearms, there is zero possibility that you can go seize guns from everyone. Worth noting that the idea that only police or military should have weapons ignores that those groups line up pretty heavy on one side of the aisle. I am rather bleak in my world view though.

Worth noting, I always back gun ownership, but don't personally have one as I think it's a bad idea to have a gun in the house with kids, reality and all.

States can apply Band-Aids, real healing has to be federal, for elections, voting rights, guns, domestic terrorism and hate crimes. Many states are racist Hellholes and because of it, turned themselves into shitholes and proved repeatedly that they cannot handle the powers given to them in the constitution. It's the people who are driven by hate and fear that are the problem and they elect these idiotic governments who turn their states into such backward shitholes.

Yeah, there's no practical way to get rid of guns in the US. Any type of widespread confiscation would literally lead to 1/6, except with a hundred thousand of them and we'd lose the nation to backwards jesus witch hunters overnight. My view is bleak as well, though I think it's probably more accurate than not.

As for having them around, you have to know your family. My daughter never had any interest and physically couldn't rack anything to save her life, so it's never been something I've worried about. Now if I had two rowdy boys, fuck that shit, those things are getting locked up.

About 30% of Americans own guns and a small percentage own most of the guns. How many do you think the mass murder in San Jose had in his duffle bag? About 4% of those with guns won't give them up without using them, get them on a traffic stop and use cops on the bad cop registry to do it! While they are detained, clean out their bunker, check for booby traps first.

If you are caught with a prohibited gun you lose your house, same as they used to do for pot, no trial or even evidence required for that. Losing the house will motivate many wives to turn in their lunatic husbands. There are ways, you just need the will to do it, you won't get all the guns, but you can reduce the number by 90% over a decade. The less guns there are, the less reason people will have for wanting to own one.

The federal government could make semiautomatic weapons illegal, including pistols by regulation, they can make machine guns illegal and they also can control caliber sizes right now. In fact they could probably make muzzle loading firearms that use black powder, the only legal weapons allowed, not even rifled ones either. You can't own artillery pieces or hand grenades (bombs) and they were both considered "arms" under the terms of the second amendment when it was written. Muskets, swords, cannons and grenades (bombs) were all used when the second amendment was written and are defined as arms in that context. Most muskets were .75 caliber and any modern weapon over .50 caliber is currently regulated.

It can be done and done inside the second amendment too.

Don't think it would work and don't think i would like that level of government intrusion in my life. Again this ignores the reality that those who society deems should have firearms line up rather heavily on one side of the aisle and have rather strong views against the laws you would have them enforce.

I live in SW Colorado. I play in Utah regularly, especially around Moab. Be forewarned that it is unbearably hot in Utah during the summer months.

Assuming you're going to be outside checking out "beautiful spots", I would suggest visiting in the late fall, or spring. Winter's actually really nice too, but from time to time it does snow in the desert.

In the latest Pew Research Center report on gun control, researchers surveyed 5,109 adults from April 5, 2021, to April 11, 2021. The survey was conducted after at least two mass shootings in March. Eight people were killed at spas in the Atlanta area and 10 people were gunned down at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. The survey results were gathered right before another mass shooting in which eight people were killed at a FedEx warehouse in Indianapolis.

Done within the second maybe technically possible, but not within the constitution on that middle paragraph. Confiscating homes from drugs has to do with not being able to prove that you used legitimate funds to buy your home, but that's not at all connected to having a prohibited firearm. There is no parallel there.

Nah, maybe a few of them will wake up from their cult, but that is highly unlikely that their cult leadership will allow them to ever actually get exposed to reality enough without filling it with noise to think that they are going to not vote for a treasonous bunch of Republicans/Trump-kins.

But you still talk to them, and treat their voters with respect and try to get them to see what their leadership doesn't have to offer.

And hope enough of the independents see reality and send the Democratic party back to DC and hopefully control of some red states that are desperate to get healthcare to all of their vulnerable citizens. As well as some legit Democrat AG's in the states that keep allowing their minority population to be devastated.

Trump and the Republicans hosed us so hard. We don't even have any idea of how many people are in our nation accurately thanks to their shit effort at doing the job we all pay them to do.

Pass a law and see how many turn their gun in, then worry about those who don't or won't. Gun owner ship will go from 30%, down to 10% and lower as people start losing their houses and wives freak out. You will have a decade or two to focus on the 4% who won't and about a third of those will probably die of natural causes.

Unfortunately for the gun owners they are all on one side of the political divide and on the wrong side of history. If the democrats gain sufficient power, they will suffer no political consequences for enacting the above gun legislation and regulation. It's the same for Foxnews and other right wing domestic disinformation networks, including hate radio, none of their voters watch or listen to the trash.

The country is polarized politically and the consequences of that polarization will be felt for decades to come. It used to be that racists, gunowners and nut jobs were evenly divided among the parties, those days are over. I'm speaking of a future a few election cycles down the road, assuming you can keep your democratically elected republic, but remember, North Korea is a republic too, so is China.

Most states that confiscated houses over pot, did so without even a trial or a day in a court of law and to get to a court over it, you had to post a bond of tens of thousands of dollars. If the government made semiautomatic and rifled firearms illegal, they would be declared dangerous to society. How would you be treated if you had a bomb making factory in your home? How about a working artillery collection? Grenades and cannon were considered arms and you should be able to walk around with a sword too. Why would a state need open and concealed carry firearm laws, if such things were a federal right?

Many of these gun lunatics would bury guns on their property and it would be necessary to raze the house and plow over the property. :lol: Think about how much that would raise the resale value of your house!

it used to horrify me but i had no say in the matter 'let them learn that they're not supposed to touch it' and 'an unloaded gun is a useless gun'.

meanwhile, in his care while i was at work my daughter 1) got electrocuted from a bad storm wire touching pole (wasn't watching her) 2) cheerleading accident (flyer threw her up and forgot to catch her) which almost left her 1/2" short on one side due to growth plate..thank god that didn't happen the insurance company didn't want to approve shit; they'd rather she'd have a limp for the rest of her life. Luckily the surgeon was a cop fan and called insurance personally and had it out with them.

my ex-husband reduced his insurance to so little there were no services for growing children. cheap bastard.

I think its important to be able to put aside your views on stuff to make the best decision. I have my far left views but sure don't live them as that would stick my family in a tough spot.
