I hate guns but you won't hear me crying for scrub whose intent was mass murder.
When an unarmed woman came over to him and said you cannot intimidate us, the bastard shot her twice in the face. Killed her on the spot, then opened fire on the crowd injuring five, at least one still in critical condition.
If I were his surgeon, I'd leave a sponge in him. I rarely say or think things like that. Norms shifted.
This summer is going to suck.

Portland police confirmed that one person was killed and at least five others were injured in a shooting near a demonstration Saturday night. Police took two people into custody in relation to the shooting, according to media reports.
In a statement, the Portland Police Bureau said officers from its North Precinct responded to a call near the intersection of Northeast 55th Avenue and Northeast Hassalo Street around 8 p.m.
“When officers arrived they located a female victim who was deceased,” the bureau said in a press statement. “Additional shooting victims, two men and three women, were transported to area hospitals and their status is unknown at this time.”
The shooting happened near Normandale Park. According to flyers circulated on social media, a group of demonstrators had plans to gather at the park for a “Justice for Amir Locke” event. Minneapolis police killed the 22-year-old Locke, a Black man, after serving a no-knock warrant on a downtown apartment Feb. 2.
Several demonstrators on scene told OPB they saw a person come out of a nearby home and confront a group of about 50 protesters. The person then reportedly shot at the crowd of people. It was not immediately clear if more than one person used a weapon.
This year is going to be a hot one.

This image tells me it wasn't just a neighbor who opened fire. "Patriot"'s rig (that's the rear view of a a dump trailer) was shot up too. Or maybe his windshield just looks shattered.

Thanks, I was wondering what that was. I was hyper-focused after reading about the shooting and went over everything available with a fine comb. As I said in the OP, it looked like was shattered by couldn't tell at the time. I think you are right about it being a lighting effect due to the screen.
I guess I'm still hyper focused. I'm guessing there will be some large protests this weekend in Portland. If so, I won't stay home. I'll be there. I don't carry. I don't take part in the violence if it happens. I'm there to represent and bear witness.

Breaking a law doesn't always mean committing an actual crime. Your choice of words reveals your indoctrination and inability to see reality.So what’s the solution? What happens to people who break the law in your fantasy society? Cross our fingers and hope for the best?
When the law itself is criminal...what happens to the people who make and enforce THOSE laws in your society which is based in an impossibility?
That impossibility being, that people can somehow delegate rights they don't have in order to be protected by people, people who must first forcibly take your stuff, to pay themselves in order to "protect you", even if you don't want them to.

As expected and said in the OP, police in Portland cannot be trusted with any narrative associated with BLM or other issues associated with civil rights.
From the very beginning, the police under Mayor Ted Wheeler's leadership have distorted what happened, attributing the shooter as a homeowner who was shot defending his property from armed protesters. They said this despite the facts given to the police at the time. They originally arrested the man who shot the man attempting mass murder and charged HIM with attempted murder. He wasn't released until the next day.
What really happened was, the killer came from an apartment building where he rented his apartment. He confronted the crowd and threatened to kill them. When on unarmed woman told him he could not intimidate them, he shot from up close twice in the face, instantly killing her. He then opened fire on the crowd and his attempt at mass murder stopped after he was shot in the hip.
At meeting last night, community leaders met to highlight that the right wing propaganda that was given to the media was a deliberate attempt to make it seem the violence was due to BLM and not the ugly right wing violence prone community the police foster and support.

During a news conference Friday, Feb. 25, Portland community leaders called out the city's response and spread of misinformation in the aftermath of a mass shooting in Normandale Park during a protest Saturday, Feb. 19, that left one woman dead and several others injured.
Civil rights leaders from Don't Shoot Portland, RACE Talks, ACLU of Oregon and Oregon Justice Resouce Center spoke at the event.
"Lives are continuously being lost as our city attempts to forge onward with the progressive Portland facade that has been sold and marketed for years, said Tai Carpenter, president of Don't Shoot Portland. "But any resident of this city can see this for what this is — complicity in the highest form."
On Tuesday, Feb. 22, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and several law enforcement agencies spoke about the weekend's tragedies — which included three separate shootings. During that news conference, Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell addressed false information shared with the public. Among other things, an early police release misidentified the suspect, Benjamin Smith, as a homeowner when he is a renter.
The false information released inaccurately portrayed the situation, said Sandy Chung, executive director of ACLU of Oregon. She alleged the misinformation shared was deliberate.
Situations like the Normandale shooting affect entire communities and are representative of what's happening on a wider scale. In addition to that, Carpenter noted there are patterns of white supremacy violence and vigilante action in Oregon's history.
