you must have missed where retaliatory action is mandatory in the face of chemical weapons attacks like this on one's own people, and the part where obama can convene congress if he wants.

I don't believe you can wrap your mind around how big of a deal it is. I also don't believe the story. I don't believe Al Assad gassed his people. Even if he did, I still would not support Western intervention. The current situation is as much a result of US backing the rebels as it is of a Ba'athist being the Syrian president.

However, since I know it is valuable to you to hear this, I also don't believe Obama would commit us to nation building, nor would Hillary.

They did and it's well documented... Robert Baer has written extensively on this subject, he actually spoke at length about it during a conference in Sydney in 2010 that I attended.
