ive been growing nearly 9 months, now.
anyway im growing outdoors in a closet in the garage, and my plants are now 3 week 12/12, they look great, and have all been topped, and all have many heads, and good green leaves.
but
they is hardley and crystals, growing on the plants, all 9.
why not????
the only thing im mite be doing wrong, is the plants may be getting a little cold, some nites about 50. when the lites are out.
anyway i fix the prob and am getting the temps, upto 60.at night when the lites are out. and plus its not as cold as its been.
is this too cold, and why my plants arnt growing tirchomes, hardley at all.
anyone think why.
could it be the temps.?
or what is the gereral rule of thumb for
when plants arnt producing the correct amount ot trichomes.
im in soil, under 400hps,flowered so far 22 days.
type arjans strawberry haze, big bang, venus and euphoria.
ive grown these types, before and all has lots of crystals esp the big bang.

if thats the case, how come when i grew these strains in the summer, they were showing crystals, after 1 week, and even in vegg.
thats why i thought it mite be the cold???
cos these strains should be very frosty, by now.

The cold may play appart in this as the root zone gets cold and the plant slows to a slight dormancy at these temps.Your in soil pots so make sure they are not on direct concrete floors and what I have done recently is grab an old electric blank and some black 3 mil palstic I had around. I place cardboard on the ground then black plastic then the blanket then another layer of black plastic.I turn the blanket on and leave it on all day and night. This will make a heat barrier to the root zone so they dont cool to much and still get enough heat to process the need food for crystal production.Id say space heat but those fuckers use 1500 watts.Id try this simple method and maybe even use a solar blanket with x cuts for the pots to slip through and make a little lower tent over the pots to help hold that blanket heat around the root zone..Hope it works out for you..Hope it helps...Sincerely FilthyFletch

Hey crazy, I grow in my shed and had to get a heater for the cold nights, just to keep the edge off. I got a 400W oil filled heater for about 40 quid. Got it set on a timer to come on when my lights go off and it works a treat. I wouldn't want to put a heated blanket under my plant to be honest, I would be worried about fire risk and water run off from the pots when watering. Unless it's some sort of heat pad specifically for plants I guess.

Why dont you switch the lights on at night crazy? Is it for security?
either way. this time of year it is too cold in the day as well, so you would need to run a heater anyway. I'm going to switch my light cycle to night time in the summer though, to help combat the hot day time temps that I had last year.

be patient; they will get more and more frosty. next week you should start to notice an accumulation, and the last couple weeks they'll really put it on (ak48).

ak did better from clone that she did from seed ;)

topping before flower might be slowing things up a lil, but patience is key. ak is sativa dom, mine didn't trich up fully until the end of week four, and seed grown was about 2/3 as frosty as from clone. i ended up with one keeper, sativa pheno (and i do mean sativa, around a 10-12 week flower time as opposed to 48 days ). lots of stretch, lots of nodal spacing in flower, fluffy elongated buds.

no worries man, glad to help. This is what I've got, except it's 400W, which they don't seem to do anymore. This one is 500W.....

Heating Products - Oil Filled Radiators - DELONGHI TRN0505M BAMBINO Oil Filled Radiator

My night time temps never fall below 16 deg C, but I aim for 18/19 deg C. I check the predicted night time temps on the BBC website and then set my heater accordingly. It takes a few goes to get things dialed in, but after a few frosty nights and then some warmer ones, you soon know where to set the heater at. At first, I made my room hotter at night than in the day! My next investment will be a climate controller to run my intake, exhaust and heater from.

Can't go wrong with a thermostatic fan heater. £7.99 drys the air, warms it up. Stand the pots on polystyrene foam.
