Can't go wrong with a thermostatic fan heater. £7.99 drys the air, warms it up. Stand the pots on polystyrene foam.
I could, depends on your space though.

I did not want hot air blowing all over my plants at night, my space is quite tight. The oil filled heater is much more efficient and just radiates a nice gentle heat. Yeah, they are a bit more expensive to buy, but cheaper to run. Standing pots on polystyrene is a good idea. I insulated my shed with the stuff and put down a raised floor on top of it as part of the conversion from standard garden shed, to grow room.

Might be a wierd idea... but honestly worked for me great!

I had one of those Lava lamps that also give off heat and heat near your bed so you can sleep.. i put one of those near my plants and the temps inside got from 62F to 75ish... in a 32"x15"x6' space. Hope this helps..

Has to be the lava lamps that give off heat. Cool thing about this is.. no blowing air around.. no dryness.. just kinda like a heat stone.

its not enough to do much... but if your really worried i guess one can just turn off the lightbulb inside the lamp and just used the heat...

It sounds like the temps. How big is the area, can you put insulation around the area?
The temps should be around 62* with the lights off and around 72* with them on.
So to drop down to 50 it not a good thing at all. What are the temps with the lights on?

Maybe you can go to the thrift store and pick up some heavy duty blankets to through on top of the shed/grow area.

Anyway good luck,

when on 70 to 80 and ive just put a small fan heater in there, for the dark period.
its a big double closet. about 6 foot high, 2 half foor long and 2 foot wide.
thanks for all the help and advice, anyway ill see if the heater is ok for now.
i was just wrapping big blankets around the closet, on a nite, when it was cold, but it was still cold. the plants even nearly died when the frost came unexpected one night.
but they seem fine now, just no crystals, there is more crystals, on the plants, inside vegging under flo's.
anyway i hope this is the problem.
i know it isnt strain, cos im growing 5 diff strains, in the closet. some 9 days 12/12 and some 23 days now.
anymore views, please say.
thanks

ive just put an extra 250 hps dual spec, along with the 400 hps, for flowering. will this be ok, and it mite warm thing up, if i can circulate the air, any views, i have a fan, but if i have it blowing out away, it gets too cold, cos the temps are cold, outside the closet.
ill have a mess about over the next few days, and see what i can come up with.

Even the oil heater will work but at 400 watts you just doubled your electrical usage that why I said heaters can be cost to run restrictive. The heat blankets that Im talking about are water proof so thats not a worry but thats why you use 2 layers of 3 mil black plastic as it absorbs the heat and radiates it throught the pots and room sealed water tight between the plastic and I would asume you have drip pans under each pot so there is no run off to your floors..Another note the light from alave lamp is more then enough to disrupt a plant in flower not sure why you would think otherwise and you cant take the bulb out as the bulb is waht heats the oil and wax in the oil so no bulb no heat.Good luck

i have a little heater that comes on about 15 mins every hour.
other than that, i have a radiator, like you have in your house, you just plug it in.
wonder if that will work better.
