Please Help. Pictures. Multi-Strain. Light in colour and purple stems.

Hi All,

Firstly I appreciate your time in trying to help me with my grow. I do have a current journal on it in the relevant forum.

Some information on the grow. Strains I'm currently growing are Blueberry, 24k Gold and LA Confidential. They are currently 3.5 weeks old and are in a soil, earthworm casings and vermiculite mix. They are vegging under 4x dual 36w (2400lm) t8 cfls. They have been fed so far only ff big bloom and calmag. My tap water comes out at 0.19ec. I then bump up with calmag nitrate to 0.3ec and then supplement with ff big bloom to 0.5-0.6ec and then PH to 6.5. Temperatures are constantly 23deg and have good ventilation.

I do try to be very conscious about overwatering and do let the pot get light before watering again.

The problems I'm having are the following:

On all but one of the plants the stems are purple and the leaves are generally a faded colour to a point where they can almost be yellow. Also on the Blueberry there is a dead tip. The 24k Gold #1 is a perfect green compared to the rest so I don't know what's happening.

I highly appreciate all the help.

You my friend are locked up. Pretty good too. Look at your leafs see the dark green squares with light green squares &
The dark red purple stems? That is your ph being a tad high and your locked out on N.P.K & Mg/Cal. The purple stems is from phosphors being locked.

Your locked out.

Flush & nute 50% back. With good water PPM?

If you don't flush the medium, it will be toxic and they won't drink eat and the soil will stay wet for a longer time.

I recommend 200 PPM.

If you don't have a meter ... You need one.

too much feed too soon suffers baby plants every time. less is more.
castings would have supported these for many weeks, they dont need cal mag(wtf?)
a grow bible will prevent any more of this more is better rush a plant ideal.

water when dry, stop all feeding.

UPDATE

Plants have only been watered once since last post. Yellowing/fading has got progressively worse. Growth is also slowed.IMG-20171009-WA0016.jpg

Wow Niblixdark, first of all thank you for the experienced diagnosis and I'm sad I only saw your reply now.

Since my original post, I later that day did do a mild flush ( thinking it was a build up of salts). I however from then have not fed them.

You however are hitting the nail on the head for me. My soil till this day is still wet from when I flushed. My tap water out the tap is 7.4pH and 0.2ec/100PPM? I did pH my water to 6.5pH. I have an ec and ph meter however do not have access to a soil ph meter.

Do you recommend I feed them?

If you want to save them, I would put them in some good soil, like Happy Frog or similar Perlite is not your friend.
 
@Niblixdark Your diagnosis and treatment was spot on. Ladies looking a lot better. I have bought a much superior soil that should be arriving this week coming. Hopefully will never run into a problem like this again.
 
Don't mean to hijack thread but all I seem to get else where is "looks like a nute problem" like yeah no shit! First three pics are from lemon in week 11 of veg was going to flip her but guessing I shouldn't until I fix this and the forth is of diesel week 4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If I read the op correctly it said that vermiculite instead of perlite was used.

Not only is there way too much but vermiculite holds water. It is not added for drainage like perlite which is what I think is wrong. Bad drainage. Medium holding too much moisture.

Also seedlings and young plants don't need the cal mag yet even with the soft water.

Thanks for the knowledge @MichiganMedGrower, I was thinking that my soil was holding to much moisture. I've found a local producer of premium soil that I've ordered from and awaiting for. Once it arrives I'll pop them into bigger pots with that.

Below is a description of the mix. What do you think?

"Orgasoilux is a premium organic potting mix, especially created for planting and growing healthy,organic and nutritious vegetables, aromatic herbs and radiant flowers.

It is organic and filled with nutrients and trace elements. Orgasoilux essentially promotes the vigorous growth of roots, foliage, vegetables, fruits and flowers.

Contents:

Compost, Cocopeat, Perlite, Earthworm compost, Diatomaceous Earth, Dolomite lime, Soft Rock phosphate, Guano, volcanic rock dust, kelp meal and alfalfa/Lucerne meal."

Sorry I have never heard of it. I would want to test its ph and ec before use.


It may need added large perlite for good drainage anyway.

I add 25% large perlite to Fox Farm Ocean Forest and have no problems. Water to runoff before planting taprooted seed. Only water when pots are dry 3/4 the way down (about a week when young and when they get to 3 days between i transplant up. Plastic party cup to 1 gallon to 3 gallon. I use .2-.3 ec well water only through 6 weeks of veg like this.

When my well water gets soft to the lower ec in summers with no rain I add a half cup of agricultural lime to the mix to make up for He missing calcium.

Adding a couple ml cal mag can work too but can be overdone quite easily.

These 3 have the lime added to the soil. My water is reading .2 right now. A half cup per bag won't hurt anything if the well starts going back up in calcium.

When it arrives I will defiantly test its ph and ec. My tap water is also around the 0.2ec range so I will hold back on the cal Mag. Here's some pics of the recovering ladies.
