because nothing actually stays at on constant temp anyway everything this is fluctuating by a degree or 2 even when the doctor takes your temp.
the gun is efficient, i dont trust your probe, it was made to have that whole piece of metal "probed" into a turkey or chicken, not to have its ridged metal probed placed upon another ridged object.
geometry
the probe is round a perfect circle, and ridged, the chamber bottom is flat and ridged. so there is a very small area where the 2 ridged objects are touching, in geometry if this was sketched out on that shity graphing paper, the probe would be tangent to the surface of the chamber, meaning it only touches in one spot.
thermal dynamics
also the paper does not lay perfectly over the probe, so there is a small pocket of air in between your paper and the surface of the chamber. granted this area only extends a half inch to an inch on either side of the probe.
then the oil that is on top of the paper in this small area that is elevated from the surface of the chamber is the oil that you are taking the temp of.
so you are getting 3 different temps on your probe.... i am getting one on my gun
