Plants exploding, but, looks like calmag def???

Out of 2 EC from what the nutrient manufactor says too use, I've been feeding 0.3 EC.

The plants are still growing great, and look strong and healthy the roots exploded.

Now feeding 2 - 4 times a day.

But I'll mix a bucket of strong stuff, 2 EC 1400ppm. Which will, after the different ppm system is accounted for, I'll be feeding approx 600ppm of nutes vs 150ppm of nutes they have had for the last 14 days. And just test this formula on one plant.

If it goes great then it goes great and I'll apply this fix too the rest of them. Still growing great. Very very compact indica

What if it fails ?

All a ppm meter does is convert ec to ppm. Plenty of charts online to help you reverse the math there
It measures ec. In uS. Micro siemens
Convert too EC. It works.

What I've been wondering is what ppm scale is my pen, and what ppm scale does my nutes use

Well about 5 hours of research today, I finally found out and comprehended my pen operated by default on the 500ppm scale, and my nutes run on 700ppm scale.

Took me a while but I figured out how too change my pen from 500ppm too 700ppm scale.

I've been under feeding.

My EC is 1.1 and ppm is 800.

The nutrients call for 1400ppm and 2 EC.

With the 500ppm system could only get 1000ppm before hitting 2EC.

At least I am on the right scales now with the nutes and the pen.

I will choose my strongest plant and give it a full big feed ?

Will be nearly doubling the ppm and EC.

And we will see what happens.

Also will feed the mag sulfate.
What if it fails ?
Then I will flush the plant and continue too feed the same mixture I have been feeding, I log all the waters, and don't make any changes and when trying new things I'm not making big changes, trying too educate myself and take the most educated guess and give it a go, trial and error.

Hence only using one plant as a test. They are all ak47/white widow, it's called kalishkanov I love it grew it ten years ago same breader.

It's so Indica and tight rod branches, I got 12 oz of this plant in 42 degree Celsius heat in the worst conditions alot of sun. But, this thing had only 4 too 6 side branches and one main cola. About 5 to 6 solid rods and took 20 mins too manicure all the leaves and hang it. Was some really interesting strong terps and crystals it was unreal. Straight up fire haha

As for watering, now I have a auto watering system, I have watered 3 times today. Doing 3 times a day up from 1 a day.

The same old weak underfunding concentration just in the reservoir, I have been recirculating that, no air stone, but taking measurements of the water, pH down is all I'm doing too this water.

But the 3 times watering a day, day 2 currently soon day 3.

I don't know If it's just me but I feel like the plants are getting more food with 3 a day, I have around 100 ppm in the res of straight magnesium sulfate crystals, and yeah just all the damaged yellow spotty leaves are starting too turn green.

If this watering 3 times a day ect fixes the problem, I still will try increase the food I am feeding just for fun.

Anyone ever played around with silica and noticed a difference too grows where they didn't use it ?

Happy new year guys, I pray too make 2023 the best year of my life yet and really achieve highly this year with physical and mental.

Nice herbs will be a nice addition bit of a luxury lol

I have hard water at 350ppm so I cut it 50/50 with spring water then I add enough nutrients to get me up to 500-700 ppm and rarely go over 700ppm and never have issues. I run coco and multi feeds per day with plenty of runoff. Not sure if that helps you at all but when I got the switch on my blue labs guardian it’s like 1.0-1.2 EC at my highest feedings. All tap water is different but I don’t ever consider it to be 0 because I would be way over feeding. Can you get your water tested? That would help everyone tell you what you need to add.

That's a good suggestion, maybe I should get it tested I'll get a quote and decide. Will be interesting too find out.

Yeah ok, what nutes are you using
What ppm scale does your pen run
And what ppm scale does your nutes run

If you own your home then you can get a free test kit from Home Depot and send it in but even if you have to use a private company locally it’s not much money to have it tested and find out exactly what’s in it. Then you can use that test report at say jr peters and they will customize you a nutrient to meet the needs your looking for but normally once you know what’s all in it your can use any nutrients and make it work good

I use a Hanna ppm pen and also a blue labs guardian system and i think it’s the 500 scale but let me check and will let you know. My guardian has all the different scales so I can use whatever one I want but I just keep it on the PPM 500 scale

Have you checked your runoff at all? It can help you determine if your over or under feeding. The runoff should be close to whats going in. Also check the PH in your runoff to make sure its still in range. Most feed charts are to much food and should be scaled back. Also are you feeding every time or are you doing a cycle of Water,Water,Feed,Water,Water,Feed. This can help prevent salt buildup which can cause lockout. If your in a pinch and want to lower your tap water getting a "Zerowater" water filter can work for the short term. Filters can get expensive after a while and getting a RO system is cheaper over time.

I have a zero water filter and it adds stuff to my water so it raises the ppm. In coco feed every single time never use straight water. Just make sure you get plenty of runoff and you won’t get salt buildup. With a multi feeding system you shouldn’t have to worry about buildup if you get runoff everytime. Also don’t check ph of runoff it’s useless only worry about the input PH. You want the runoff to never get higher than 300ppm higher than what your putting in and if it does your getting buildup so water to more runoff.

RO systems are nice but they make a ton of waste water. Most systems do anyway.
I agree most feed charts are way too much so I start at 1/3-1/2 dose of what they call for but some plants are heavy eaters so you will learn to read the plant and give it what it needs.

You probably don't need to get it tested. Get the water information from your city's website. Most tell you exactly what is in the water and its corresponding readings in ppm/ppb. If not, you can call them and they'll give it to you.

Get used to using EC, then you don't have to worry about conversions.

In high-fertigation coco, generally speaking, feed:

400-500EC seedling
1100-1400EC early veg
1200-1500EC late veg
1100-1400EC early flower
1300-1600EC late flower

Start at the lower EC ranges until the plant lets you know what it wants, with 10-20% runoff at each fertigation event, which should be once or twice daily to start and then increased as the plant matures.

EC is measured in seimens? Right?

What unit of measurant is ec?

I'm pretty sure it's micro or milli siemiens?

Is that what you mean?

I was expressing EC in microsiemens. 1200 microsiemens = 1.2 millisiemens. Either way is acceptable. PPM is just a conversion of that and there is the 500, 640, and 700 scale, so it's best just to use EC since that number is universal.

What nutrient line are you running and what is the EC of the feed you're giving? Show pic of entire plant.

ISN nutrients, guy at shop just handed them too Me, I was just going too grow soil and he convinced me use hydro and coco, he did a pretty good job but, he is a cool guy.

My tap water is 0.7ec
First water was 1.2 ec At 6 ph.
And ever since then 1.0 ec and 5.8 - 5.9 ph.

Good run off.

Run off measures usually tiny bit higher but it's consistent, say 6 - 6.2 ph and 1.2 - 1.3 ec

Just found local water test.

Tap is 0.7EC and your total feed after nutes is 1.0EC, or is that 1.0 without adding in the 0.7? It's not getting enough base nutes which is why you're showing signs of a nitrogen deficiency.

Mystery nutes! They give no info about what's in it or even the NPK ratio! :wall:
This is all I could find on their site. WTF?

Wow, sure as shit, there are no NPK numbers on the bottle and nothing on the site. Couldn't find a pic of the back of the bottle to see if they break down any numbers for macros/micros, but their feed charts recommend high EC feedings and to flush every week with water.

OP, I'd switch lines. Recommending high EC feedings and weekly flushes isn't very indicative of a good line. First off, you should never flush with plain water as it causes osmotic stress to the plant. Secondly, if you're feeding the correct EC and to appropriate runoff, the plant never needs to be flushed (unless your preference at the end is to flush).

Yeah 0.7 is base water, and 0.3 of nutes brings it too 1.0 ec.

The nutes operate on the ppm 700 scale and my pen was calibrated for 500ppm scale so I was feeding even less.

Going too feed one with like 1.7?
Maybe ? See if the extra food burns it or helps it.
