I don't have a favoural opinion of anyone on Rollitup, its neutral, long before I was working here I met people on here who did me quite dirty, while working here I've had threats of violence towards myself, my child, people attacking me wishing death, rape and more over deleted posts. Ive been called every name in the book and then more along side creative ways of people wishing death and how to murder me.

IVe had people whom I considered friends wrong me deeply.

I have separated almost all my personal life from Riu I just come here to work :) you all may have noticed I stopped posting basically anything except work related and here and there comment for about 5 years now

As per the vote, you can vote to your hearts content, I don't choose the forums subforms here, and neither does the community the owner does and he doesn't want politics gone just moderated

ahem I say its better to get back on topic of the pandemic of 2020..

Who'd have thought a moderator on basically a ganja/stoner internet forum would have to consider wearing a kevlar vest or being escorted to the parking lot if not working from home, looks like radicalization of society has permeated everything.I , myself have always refrained from getting down and dirty during any back and forths here, It's pretty easy to pose as a super committed bad ass w/relative anominity ,and the distance a keyboard grants.

If that dude's info is correct it's alarming as China has done a 180 in it's covid policy. They've gone from bragging about their superiority in stamping it out w/ their repressive lockdowns and testing and quarantining. Now they aren't even collecting any data on these new variants and the rest of the world has to wait for them to circulate out of China and take 6 mos. to collect data concerning these new strains virulence. Hope nothing serious results, but China has a history of incubating diseases, fingers crossed that the worst REALLY is over.

The next generation of coronavirus vaccines: a graphical guide
New technologies might provide more potent or broader immunity — but will have to fight for market share.

Vaccines against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 have been given to billions of people to protect them from COVID-19, and have saved more than 20 million lives. But viral variants can evade some of the immunity provided by the original vaccines. As a result, vaccine developers around the world are working on dozens of ‘next-generation’ COVID-19 vaccines: not just updates of the first versions, but ones that use new technologies and platforms.

These vaccines are a diverse group, but the overarching aim is to deliver long-lasting protection that is resilient to viral change. Some could protect against broader classes of coronavirus, including ones that have yet to emerge. Others might provide more potent immunity, might do so at lower doses, or might be better at preventing infection or transmission of the virus.

Here’s what to expect of this next generation of vaccines.

One day there will be highly effective covid vaccines, but it won't help the losers who were sucked in by antivax bullshit. Covid might mutate into something more virulent too, like omicron, evading regular vaccines and natural infections. Once enough people get the new vaccines it should help protect the unvaxxed somewhat by helping them to avoid infections with new variants. Vaccine resistance is a problem which might take care of itself one day, depending on how virulent some future bug might be. Darwin will do it for us.

They're just confused, hard to figure out who to believe and who is just part of the PSYOP.

Foxnews spread vaccine disinformation and doubt, while company policy required vaccines and even masks at work for a time. Tucker was vaxxed and and booster when he had his "Questions". Many on the right who coddle the antivaxxers and spread disinformation are themselves vaxxed. A sure sign yer dealing with a callous bastard who is using people like toilet paper.

The current vaccines are very safe and highly effective.
They are, but covid is a moving target that is constantly mutating and becoming more contagious or even more virulent. So something broader spectrum that attacks multiple fundamental pathways and does not allow evolutionary escape, is required. On to the second and third generations of covid vaccines, on the way other things might be helped too. The global research community has had a good look at this bug and have gotten to know it well and there is a lot of money being spent. The article is very informative about current vaccine efforts, there are many and they are varied, some look very promising and several are in clinical trials.

The big problem is that they attacked the wrong vector of the virus. Going after the spike protein was a major mistake.

They attacked the easiest target they could initially, it was an emergency situation, now there is more breathing room and much more is known. Hindsight is 20/20, but getting something out to the public was a priority, it helped a lot and is continuing to do so along with antiviral medications and the various support therapies they have now. Now there is time to look at a more permanent solution, covid is expensive and dangerous. It's close cousin SARS was much more lethal, but was stopped early and was perhaps not as contagious. Covid mutated into one of the most contagious viruses known over the course of the pandemic. We have a kind of herd immunity by vaccination and natural infection in the community, people get sick with new variants, but it appears not as badly, so some residual immunity might be sticking around for awhile.

Speaking of variants and mutations..
