......I need to be smoking is predator mites and their poop.
Lol
I just released tens of thousands of Ambyseilius Cucumeris into my 4 x 4 tent for thrip.
I've done this on the odd occasion over the years for both thrip and spidermite.
Maybe I'm not fussy what insects I smoke! :D

Your plants look great.
There'll be plenty of tucking branches under the net.

Thanks for the kind words. This strain has very flexable branches, super easy to tuck them. I'll keep tucking until the net is full and then flip them and then let all them branches stretch into long colas....or that's the plan. It'll be interesting to see the stretch when I do that. Good thing I have lots of head room in there.

Ace doesn't ship to Canada. I ended up buying ther seeds from The Attitude Seed bank. I usually try to order direct from the breeders but for when I am having issues trying to find certain strains or when breeders like Ace don't ship to Canada, The Attitude has never fsiled me. Also they ship in the breeder packs too which is nice.

I also like that "my heart feels like it might explode, racey" sativa high some strains have and I definitely hope this is one of them.

Plants are looking good and healthy. I think I can take my Malawi down very soon. Gonna be start week 14 tomorrow and she got real frosty and plumper looking especially over the past 3 weeks.
I am interested to see how yours turns out. When I defoliated the bottom leaves off to open up airflow, I really noticed a very pungent skunky smell. Not sure if this is normal for Malawi or if I am just reading too much into this early smell.

Day 1 of 12/12

Things took a little longer than normal to fill out the scrog net but its pretty much full now. Looking at these plants I kinda feel that yield won't be the same as other steains I have grown before in this room. But as long as it is good smoke, I wont mind.

Anything above 2lbs and I will be happy. Then I can go back to the more mainstream strains and shoot for that 4lbs next grow.

Check out North Atlantic Seed Co. Ace just did a big restock. I found out through Ace emails. Pretty sure they'll ship to Canada.

They don’t ship to Canada either.

I had went through ChosenSeeds, but you might wanna check out SensibleSeeds They even have some in bulk (like Golden Tiger) Can get some strains cheaper in bulk then buying 5 seeds. It’s only $96Cnd for 25 feminized seeds of Golden Tiger, and I’m oh so tempted to do so when I have money again.

oh and my Malawi came in at 144g dried and she is frosty as hell. Harvested 2 weeks ago and she is a high jittery energetic strain.

So I didn't even want to post this but I want to keep my grow journals honest so.....

As I had previously mentioned, I have had some issues with fungus gnats the past couple of grows. Last grow I released 5000 preditor mites. They cut down the number of gnats drastically but didn't quite eradicate them all. The plants grew fine and the gnats didn't seem to affect them at all. This grow I decided to try and eliminate the gnats completely. So I ordered the next size bigger bag of predator mites, 20,000 of the little bastards.

I released the mites and they made short work of the gnats and I was super stoked to have finslly won the battle. Yay, right? Not exactly. I was under the impression that after the gnats were gone the mites would die off. And I couldn't have been more wrong. They did go dormant but what I thought dormant would be and what dormant really means is that they hardly move, continue to eat, shit and lay eggs. My plants became infested with these little bastards. I don't know what they were eating but it definitely was not the plants. The plants were thriving and forming monster colas. No signs of any damage from the mites. However the plants were covered in the mites, their shit and tons of eggs.

Before flipping the plants I did try soap and water then tried neem oil and nothing was working. These little fuckers were invincible. And then buds started forming and I was pretty much screwed at this point so I chopped the room down thrn bagged it and tossed it in the local landfill.

I am sure there is a way to kill off these mites but I didn't figure it out and it cost me a crop.

As I said earlier I didn't want to post this but I also know I post some pretty crazy harvest numbers and if I want to maintain any amount of credibility I had better share my failures and not just my successes.

Yeah it sucks but shit happens and I have been pretty lucky as far as pests are concerned. My last lost crop was spider mites in 2002 or 2003.

Just gonna pull everything out of the room. Set off a bug bomb and then wipe down everything. I am going to grow only cover crop in the living soil and see if I can kill off any stragglers left in my soil before using it for weed again. If I can't fix the soil, I will decide then which route I want to go as far as growing medium is concerned. Probably gonna stay with living soil but who knows.

Yeah definetly gotta try another run. But now I am under the gun to get another crop off so probably gonna do something with a quicker finishing time. I have washing machine by Ripper Seeds and Gelato from Barneys Farms in my my seed collection. Might try a tangie type strain, I don't know.

Well, whatever ya grow I'd like to tag along. I like your approach to things. I learn from growers like yourself...lol. I'm not new to indoor growing but it's been a while and this hobby seems to have blown up over the past 20yrs. Ive never done the living soil but have grown in all other mediums. I like organics but...it seems to always invite more bugs than any other medium. Love the pH control and simple plain water feedings but damn the bugs..lol. Them little gnat fuckers are hard to eradicate. We often bring them home from the grocery store unknowingly.

As I read your thread I saw where you thought you had them gone..then poof..they become unstunned from treatments, eggs hatch n it's a shit show. A slow sticky trap death isn't enough for them...lol.

I remember you said you want to bomb and try again. Are you sticking with the medium you chose before? What you going to do to prevent those lil bastards from reappearing? I'm full of questions..lol. I like your style soooo I ask n learn. Thanks
