Been a while but things are still going on.

Got 5 Critical Mass cuttings from my buddy in the city and a 25 pack of neoprene inserts and built a DWC style cloner to root them in. Laid out all the inserts on the lid and used a 4" nail to poke down the centers to mark the spots to drill holes with a 5/8" wood drill. Then I used my alcohol lamp to slightly melt the edges of the holes so roots won't snag when pulling the clones out. Day 3 now and no roots yet but the cuttings still look fine. Temps got low because I forgot to close the window in the bedroom at light's out but I've rooted fine at 65F and it just takes longer. Water temp is 71F right now with the RH around 55.

Only 5 cuts in there so I may have gone overboard with the 21 holes I put in the lid.

Have a nice cover off a cake from the store that fits loosely on the little tub and makes a decent humidity dome. A thermometer down the center into the water lets me know it's temp. Got rid of the 30Something girl. Frigging mite magnet and just not worth the effort IMO. Being as how it's genetics are totally unknown I don't want to wast time or space with it. Now just have the OG#18 as a bigger plant and will take cuttings off it for DWC. The Blueberries are the fastest and strongest with both the AK and Original Skunk being slow.

Most of my cuttings from the CBD girls are well rooted and waiting for a DWC tub. They're on the right and being fed lightly to keep them healthy until they get new homes. None of the OG or sativa cuts rooted. Still got some mites floating around so as soon as I can get some more bug spray I'll go hard on getting rid of them. No sign of thrips.

The CBD GoldFish are looking almost done but the OttO#1 is still putting out lots of white hairs but very tiny buds compared to the GF. 40 days since the flip on DEC. 12. Just want them out of there so I can pup to 6 DWC tubs in there while I build the new room. Got rooted clones so can just do whatever I want once they're gone. Couple more weeks I guess.

These are the Otto#1 budz. Just pathetic lol but didn't expect much in the way of yield. Good breeding stock to make my crosses with tho.

Some of the GoldFish budz. Bigger but will be lucky to get an oz off each plant I figure. Rough ride for all of them and hope to get better results in DWC.

We shall see.

I don't hide the less than good stuff that goes on with my grows. You get it all good or bad. We all learn from the uncut versions. I could do a lot better but have issues that keep me from doing as well as I could. It's never been my goal to crank out spectacular plants tho I wouldn't mind better results. :)

This is the old lid I made a dozen years ago but the cuts just fell over and barely 50% rooted so I've always done my cuts in finely screened promix in those 9-hole seed starter pots and get almost 100% rooted. I've also used tiny cuttings but once they root they grow just as well as larger ones. It's the genetics that count.

I sliced slots between groups of holes so I can get the rooted cuts out without ripping off the roots. Hoping the new top will work a lot better but as it's the first try who knows.

My buddy uses the same system with just tap water to supply clones to commercial growers. Keeps a few big mothers in an 8x4 grow tent and has two tubs for rooting the cuts. Gets $15 each for the clones but has a bug problem going on. House is full of all sorts of plants and he's working hard on cleaning up his act. The 5 ones I just got seem to be clean but I still have some mites in the older plants so could get infected yet.

Gotta get myself bug free ASAP. I just won't spray anything on flowering plants so got to clean up the vegging ones now.

I did it as things needed replacing.
Running gas lines is what would cost me a lot of dough. It's a mobile home too so there's a big bag of insulation to get through everywhere and already a mess in the basement where it was hacked into. Gas heat everywhere and that helps a lot tho a gas water heater and stove would be nice. I'm lucky most everything is working OK tho the clothes washer just bought it. Picked up a new drill pump so I can get the water out of it. Pretty sure it's just an old relay switch I can probably fix with some emery cloth. Like points on older cars. Can hear a clunk when you turn the machine on to start the wash cycle then after a few seconds it shuts down. Bad relay is what I'm hearing.

Gas lines aren't that bad. The long sections are affordable. I measured all the pieces and the local hardware store cut them and threaded them. Various fittings and elbows and such. A long run can be expensive. I think it was than a couple hundred for about a 30 foot run and all the fittings.

It could be costly but its not too bad.

Not sure about the legality of running my own gas lines. Already a little worried about the electrical lines I've installed tho put them in according to code they weren't inspected by a qualified electrician. That is legal but don't know about gas. If we ever had a fire I wouldn't want my insurance to be refused. Been paying $140.mth for the last 16 years and could have bought a new house for the money. :)

I think we're on our 5th stove since moving in here. Just had to replace out clothes washer after the 1990 GE one packed it in. Got a fairly new one from a friend for $100 and it's so much quieter. :)

Set up the bare frame from the 8x4 tent to give me more space in the bedroom and lots of places to hang stuff without damaging the ceiling with hooks etc.

One of the Critical Mass clones was potted and is doing well with the other four still in the cloner and a couple of them starting to root. 4 eventually did but the the fifth looks like it won't make it. All of the stems went black where I had scraped them and the roots emerged above the scraped portions so won't be scraping them any more.

I'll be cleaning out the cloner and loading it up with cuttings from some of the other plants. I got rid of the Original Skunk as they were spindly and weak as hell. The 3 Blueberries aren't impressing me much either. Even after topping they don't grow out side branches worth a crap and are tall and stretchy not bushy like BB should be unless I got that wrong. First time growing a pure BB. The AK47 aren't impressing me either as they seem pretty lank and lean instead of bushy and strong.

I put a garbage bag over the 30Something sativa girl about 3 weeks ago and stuck it in the basement. Talk about a mite magnet! Sprayed the crap out of her and just couldn't get rid of those bugs so decided to toss her out. Unknown genetics so didn't want to waste any more time on her. When I took the bag off after 3 weeks in the dark, cold basement the tops looked great and I now wish I'd taken a few cuttings just in case she turned out to be the bomb but she's gone now. Got out the big Fiskars and lopped her off.

One of the Original Skunk on the right and a couple of older plants from my last harvest went too.

I left the cuttings in the warm cloner too long and got a bit of root rot going but dosed the new tub with lots of peroxide and it seems to have worked. That was 5 days ago and everybody is still looking OK and roots are coming out of the pots with the Critical Mass. The tub with the CBD girls isn't showing roots yet so hand watering a bit. They have a couple inches of balls to grow thru before they will show so no panic yet.

CBDGirls160218010.jpg

The greener ones at the top are the Goldfish 'B'. Smoking some or both now and the 'B' seems to 'B' the best so far.
6 dead holes filled with balls to to block light. I put the pots in baggies and fill them with balls to plug up the unused holes.

I'm keeping the room temp at 70F so the nute temp stays lower but planning to move the tubs upstairs and using the chiller to keep temps down so I can put my larger plants down there and get them flowering under the 1000w Hortilux. Then I can let the temps run up closer to 90 and run the CO2 burner. I'll take a bunch of cuttings off those first. Some haven't even showed sex yet.

Two unsexed Blueberry on the far left and the other one right front in the larger pot as it's shown to be a girl. One of the two AK47 front and center with the other behind it and the 3 Otto clones on a couple of inverted plant pots way at the back. May need one to go into the tub downstairs as it looks like I broke one. The OG #18 is the biggest one in the back on the right side. The Critical Mass is the smaller one in the white 1L pot and will be the mother of more to come if they are decent smoke.

Watch Kitty guarding the door.

Anyone know where a guy can buy small quantities of electrical parts? I need one each 43 and 430ohm resistors and a LM334Z current limiter to build a gizmo for my colloidal silver generator. Tried a Source store but he can only get quantities of 100 each so unless I go into the business of making these units it's a lot more than I need. lol

I'm sure its perfectly legal. Most hardware stores sell gas lines and fittings. Its not hard to do. Just put gas tape on the threads and tighten good. Once everything is connected you can either turn the gas on or pressurized the line. Then take a mixture of soap and water and spray every connection and look for bubbles.

I understand if you don't want to though.

I got no problem with doing the work. I got a lot of gas training when I used to deliver propane way up north in Zama City. I'll check into the legal aspects but likely won't be doing anything soon. Still thinking of getting the hell out of here and back to civilization but wouldn't get enough for this place to buy another place anywhere populated like in BC.

Too bad I just replaced my electric water heater a couple years ago. Would have been fairly easy to hook that up except for the need of a chimney. The main part of our house is a mobile home so that complicates things a bit too. I'm pretty handy and have lots of tools but I ain't no contractor. :)

I was just tossing ideas out.

I switched myself because the meter was already here. As things needed replacing I switched them to gas.

One reason for me is that in winter we have been without electric for extended times. I use the wall mount gas heaters as back up.

We have all gas heat so that helps. I've wired a plug into my furnace so I can can plug my generator into it and keep the place from freezing up and from that can feed power to the gas heater in the shop. It has one of those radiant tube heaters that run the length of the shop and are pretty efficient. During the winter we keep it at around 50F unless like now the wife has a bunch of fresh chicks then we run it around 60. They got a small heat lamp in their little coop so don't need it too warm. Wife is pretty good about keeping cages clean so it doesn't smell too bad in there. If she can tolerate my hobby I guess I can deal with hers. :)

I bought that genset when we had a freak wind storm up here that took out a whole bunch of power poles and the temps were around -25C. Held ot for 3 days and an hour after I rigged up the furnace to work off it the power came back on. Just my luck and we haven't had an outage longer than a couple hours since.

As I'm going to be taking cuttings from a half dozen plants at least and putting them all in my cloner I came up with this idea a while back to number the net pots I use in my 12-hole DWC tub when I have different strains in it. Plug my 23.5w soldering iron into my variac to gently melt Roman numerals into them then make sure I'm careful about logging which cut goes to what numbered pot/plug. Then I can move the cuts or pots around if needed and not lose track of who's who. A candle to heat a nail would work too I bet. Roman numerals are a bit archaic but have nice straight lines until you get to 100 which is C

bought single component stuff before from a place called Vetco in WA.

I'm so far behind on everything but recently had a serious health problem fixed that I didn't even know I had. I thought I was gluten or lactose intolerant as I've had trouble with my guts the last 3 years. Turns out it was an appendix that tried to blow back then but blew a little hole near the base and has been leaking poison into my belly the whole time. Almost lost a big chunk of my colon but the operation went great and all is well now. My constant fatigue was my body using a lot of resources to fight an ongoing infection. Doc said I must have a hell of an immune system not to have got peritonitis in all that time. Day after I get home from that, yesterday, I'm off in an ambulance again for a damned kidney stone that formed from the severe dehydration I was undergoing. Showed up in the CAT scan that caught the appendix problem but was non-obstructive so they never told me or I would have known what was going on and toughed it out another 20 min at home. After abdominal surgery I wasn't taking no chances with incredible pain like that. Never again I hope.

Already feeling like a champ again and eating like a horse to get back the 12 lbs or so I lost. Down to 129 at my last weigh in.
Wow @OldMedUser glad to hear you finally found out what was ailing you and had it repaired! Scary shit right there. Just catching your journal, nice work and thanks for sharing!
