I called my Alderman and told him in no uncertain terms I was not goign to buy their garbage can. Not after the note I got that said Verbatim
Buying a city approved garbage container is better than a 410 dollar fine no?

That was the last sentence on the ticket they left on my garbage can. My alderman says they are making no money selling the garbage cans and the reason they want people to buy their cans is due to a rat infestation.

we have those new trucks and were "given" our trash cans (2-including recycling) as part of our water, trash and sewer..no separate billing..i think what they do in other states is an obomination..especially cali.

extortion comes to mind..what is the rat proof rating on your cans vs. theirs?

i would find out and provide my alderman with that information.

I see your point. But they don't have time to evaluate every can they pick up. By making it mandatory that you use their can it completely removes any type of problem they may have, from you or anyone else who supplies their own can. It's silly, but it makes sense.

The DHM Research survey showed 68 percent agreed immigrants are essential to building the future economy in Oregon.
