right on....by the way i have a nikon d-3100, with standard lens, and a tamron macro.
I'm a Canon guy myself, but all that white balance stuff should be in your guide.

As well, when you are using your ring flash and a cfl backlight, you are slightly mixing up your color temps, hence all the corrections you say you are having to do later. cfl's generally have a .3 magenta shift . . . but really it all depends on the temp of the bulb you buy... some shift green, too. As well, typically flash is a little bit bluer in color, kinda along the lines of open shade, so if you have a flash setting in your white balance, you might find you like your results better when switched over from a daylight setting.

I'm going to cut myself off. I nerd on photography like I nerd on weed. One is a job, one is a hobby for me. Both are fun, tho. If you have questions, feel free to hit me up as well. Later :peace: (oh, and that goes for anyone who wants to talk shop on taking weed photos) . . .

Just letting everyone know that the zombie apoc has hit the east coast. Seriously stock up on bud and fill those seed banks it's about time to bring it all back to nature within your guarded communes! No more electricity after a while. So we gotta rely on a crop a year to get us through the year. WE have an invaluable tool! we can grow stuff! We can grow Weed. Nothing has happened on this planet without mind altering substances and this will include zday. I will be high most of the time!
no offense bro, but lets stay relative.

I had to drop my maximum edge to 800 pixels for RIU or it seemed to be compressing them. When I had a 900 pixel edge things looked worse to me. Not sure if this is accurate info, just my experience here.

i'm going to give this a shot.......i know a fair amount of tweaking lies within the owners manual, and experimentation......i just have a serious aversion to manuals, and directions in general...always have......it's on me, i am sure my camera is capable of creating some amazing shots with the know-how, and proper accessaries.....like any new hobby, you have to start at the ground floor.....i look back at the bud i grew just two years ago, and chuckle....hopefully i feel the same about my pics in the not-so-distant future.

do the 800 pixel thing on your image export, after doing your cropping and tweaking. keep you camera set to the highest resolution possible so you can have your shots published :-)

UPDATE.....

the kush experiment has been aborted...

....you know my cataract kush was a mutant, now my bubba 76 and mk-ultra hermed.....and i have never been so pleased!......fucking junk....all that is left is headband....and she looks alright, and has cloned well, so i will do a small 7 gal. smartie test with her in the sun...if she makes it that far, she fucking better, cause those were spendy beans.......so i culled two adults, and 4 cuts........and all of a sudden there is empty space to fill.........cheesequake in rooters!....done.......which i am stoked for cause it is being grown out for a good friend who was just diagnosed with crohn's.

........all my energy is going toward tga.....period.....i'm not fucking wasting my time and money with anything else.....

Wow. Hard choices... but once made, you can move forward. Kush's seem to me to be very temperamental. I run one Kush hybrid (Pink! which Sub talked about in an episode) and it is the only strain that has ever gotten freaky on me. I keep running it because I know how to grow it and our patients swear by it (and, quite frankly, it rocks the casbah).

Bravo on the Cheese Quake, you will be very happy with your results there. And bravo on TGA, you know I love Sub's genetics.

hov, it was actually quite satisfying culling those plants, because they were really unknowns.....and i was really only looking forward to the sour kush(headband), because it was requested by a dear friend of mine, who had a brain tumor removed a few years back....not to mention what they were replaced with! everything happens for a reason, and some amazing things have been happening here almost daily....very surreal......for instance, yesterday i was about to compost some cuts that were left over, which i hate to do, and the thought of it was killing me, mostly because it was tga gear, but it came down to a numbers issue for me....... so just as i was about to toss them, i look up, and here comes an old dear friend of mine walking down my driveway......in need of some young potential dank....well, they found a home, and it made both of our days! he is pushing 75 years, and riddled with lyme disease....it was priceless to see him smile! .......today i found out that a care package of tga gear has fallen from the sky, and is soon landing in my lab!........fucking awesome.

^^^^^^^^

Hey Nugz, curious about the TGA care package. Did you order some more beans? If so, what strains are coming next?

Also, Headband is dank if you get the rite cut! I grew out an eastcoast headband (ecsd x (91chem x chem d)) for a few years. Some of the most sour meds I have grown! Unfotunetly, I got medflighted to the hospital 10 months ago and lost all my moms cause no one cared for them! :(
Furtunetly, I had a male Querkle that had purple tinged balls and a really strong grape aroma that I hit the Eastcoast Headband with. Atleast I now have 100+/- seeds of this dank hybrid me and my buddies now call Chemical Grapes! The taste is out of this world. It tastes like a mouth full of overly ripe sour grapes to the max. I have smoked other grapey sour strains, but their is something different about this hybrid(maybe its the SQ influence from the male Querkle). I do miss that eastcoast headband though........

DnA's version of headband is a nice sour smoke from what Ive heard. I just popped 10 beans of my chemical grapes to look for a nice mother plant and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Are you using a 50/50 supersoil mix for your outdoor plant or do you need more food outdoors?
my whole outdoor scene has changed.....i realized i started too early, so i am shifting things around a bit......my goal is 36-48 inch, 16 headed plants in 20 gal smarts that yield 8 oz. each.....if i were to run what i have now, they would outgrow their pots.....in the past, this wasn't a problem, because i would just hack them back.....but i am main-lining now....my structure needs to be perfect when aug 1st rolls around......so i will take another set of cuts, give all my moms to patients, and start over....i have to really meditate on the needs of my peers, and make sure i get it perfect.....but to answer your question, yes 50% is what i will run, give or take strain specific.
