Good evening Angel. I have noticed that my 2 bubblelicious ladies from Nirvana are growing different as well. One is going to town with flowers while number 2 is behind. Have enjoyed your thread. Thanks for posting. My first grow and can't wait for my girls to be as frosty as yours.

Are you going to post through harvest and curing? I would enjoy the opportunity to see what you do. I am about 3 weeks behind you in harvest time +/-.

My plan is to flush Lefty later this week, probably Friday, another flush mid next week and chop the weekend after. She'll be 12wks from seed on Friday 18th. I reckon Righty will follow suit approx 2 weeks later. Will keep an eye on Lefty and if she's done sooner, so be it. I won't be able to do anything with her over this coming weekend though as my niece is staying with me again for 3 days, but she'll surely hold out another week for me.

@Tbelt, I will indeed keep updating through harvest and cure Have a few jars and brown paper bags ready to go. I'm REALLY looking forward to providing the smoke reports. Whoop Whoop!!

I will admit to a cardinal sin in the past: I binned the trim from previous grows. I know, for shame... Not this time though, I'm thinking of making ice hash with it, or use it to make butter. Has anyone else done this? Do I need to dry the trim too or can I use it fresh? I've read conflicting reports so not sure...

Has anyone else found their girls look so much frostier in pics than by eye? Probably the flash bouncing off the lovely lovely crystals.

Ive made bubble hash, canna butter, canna oil and wax .... its easy ... its fun ... and its how youll max your return from your plants. You wont let anything go to waste

Cheers Doc! Always so helpful I'm thinking hash with 1 plant and butter or oil with the other. Can you tell me if I need to dry the trim first? There's so much contradicting info out there, some say fresh, some say dry, I'm not sure what's right.

Re hash, I found a thread a while back explaining how to make it in a bowl of ice water and other stuff around the house. Given the quantity of trim I'll have, I expect that's how I'll attempt to make it.

@Aidos88 Lefty smells like bubble gum. No smell from Righty yet but Lefty didn't start smelling till she started frosting up.

I did both. I extracted bubble hash (with i think its ipower brand bubble bags 30 dollars on amazon) with both dry material and fresh frozen!. I personally prefer fresh frozen to reduce plant matter in the final product. Also, i trim n bag the trim and it goes immediately into my freezer. Less smell lingering around the house ..... freezing the freah material also makes the trichomes brittle and ready for the ice water and extractiob process. But hey ..... donr get sucked into this which technique is better. Try both and time and future runs will allow you to try out different techniques and with time you may invest some money in better gadgets etc....
As far as the canna butter ..... i did it easily and amazingly with a pressure cooker. Doesnt take as long as it would with the regular simmer for hoirs technique. Some may argue back saying the high temp in the pressure cooker may cook off evap or burn the cannabinoids. Maybe theyre right .... maybe they're wrong. But my cannabutter turned out so potent that my first batch of cookies i made got many people tripping that now i dilute the butter (which i still have ... made with trim from pineapple express, purple haze, northern lights and liberty haze ... but mainly pineapple express) I dilute it to half or third lol
For the canna butter well youll have to decarb the material in oven so it doesnt matter if fresh or dried

Tease!!!!!! I'm getting so impatient with Lefty, but sure she might as well be a seedling as the mature lady she is seeing as I can't touch her yet.

I think what I'll do with my first trim is split it in 2, dry 1 batch and freeze fresh the second. I'll make poor man's hash with the fresh and refreeze. I'll do the same with the dry when it's ready and then compare. After that I'll attempt to extract another batch with both trim combined as I don't expect to get all trichs on the first strains. Trial and error half the fun!

Pressure cooker method sounds the business!!! I don't have one myself so the aul boil method will have to do.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Btw, if you can save the trim after running it for bubble hash and dry it, you can add it to whatever material youre using for the butter to increase potency (but the flavor also will be more weedy lol). For example, if you recipe calls for 2 ounces of trim per Lbs of butter, you can do it 2 ounce (plus all tge left over trim after extraction) per that same Lbs....you dont really extract 100% of your trichomes when doing thehash runs
Look into BHO extaction as well..... BHO or iso or everclear extraction prior to making canna butter or canna oil is best to control and adjust the dosage better. How? Alright. I have a gram of BHO .... thats almost all cannabinoids and terpenes .... i decarb it ... then its a gram (1000mg) of cannabis oil desolved in 100ml of coconut oil. Now thats 10mg of cannabis oil (that could be 7mg THC if its like 70%) per ml of coconut oil. Then you mix however many mls of coconut oil in your butter and this way you know how many mls (which means ya know how many mg of oil) per cookie or per brownie etc ... or you dose it just straight oil in your smoothies or soup or milk cooffee tea etc and youd know exactly how many mg of oil youre taking in.

From what I've read, BHO is not for me, especially with a little one running around the house. Everclear isn't available here and iso... not too sure about that either, at least high proof iso. I get what you're saying about control but that's not an issue for me right now. I'll get some basic extraction methods down first before I start getting technical. I do like the idea of using coconut oil instead of butter though, do you know if the simmer method will work with coconut oil too? The stoners cookbook has a recipe but it's not as straightforward as cannabutter...,

UPDATE: I found this recipe for coconut oil... Could be worth a shot!

I like this recipe for coconut oil....iys simple. 2 steps I would add to increase potency and bioavailability:
1- add a tea spoon soy lecithin to the material with the coconut oil.
2- after the hour of simmering on the stove (or baking in the over on 100C or 220F) i would cool down then freeze everything all together for 24 hours. Thaw then reheat again for another hour for a functional head high, or additional 3-5 for a more narcotic sedative and pain killing high then strain ..... more hours of heating to convert more of your THC to CBN and your oil will knock you out before you even feel any high haha perfect sleep aid

Uuuuuuh I like it. I like it a lot! Looking into soy lecithin, I can pick it up easily enough in health shops. Only seems to be in capsule form, (1200mg), but that shouldn't be an issue.

Like you said, it's simple, therein lies the appeal. ☺

On a side note, the room is really starting to stink! I could smell Lefty outside the door, without having to open it. Delicious!!

Nice and frosty. I'm so jealous. My girls just started week 5 of flowering so I have plenty of time. I like the hash idea. Might give it a go. We will have to see. This is my first grow so not to sure how they will finish. Won't be long now.

Aye man, this is my first grow in about 5 years and I am so so happy!

Now I had a really stressed out weekend, (my niece, aka my shadow stayed with me again, couldn't even piss without her following me!), and no smoke after she went home so I can decided to sample some popcorn bud from the bottom last night. Dammit, I deserved it. And man, if the weakest bud is anything to go by, I'm in for a real treat!! Bear in mind I quick dried it in the microwave so I don't doubt that affected the potency too, but the high was lush!!! My nose tingled as though I'd shoved a load of snow up it!

Taste was rank and it was harsh as hell (to be expected), but it was a lovely, tingly heady high, then I cabbaged on the couch before eventually dosing off. I always dose off so that's nothing new.

Lefty is getting the chop this weekend, she's ready. I really can't wait to see what the main buds deliver. Giggity!!

UPDATE: Righty is starting to frost. Woo-hoo!!!! And she smells even sweeter than Lefty.

Glad to hear righty is catching up. Sounds like the work pays off soon. Can we see a pic before the big chop? I like seeing what lies ahead as my girls come of age.

Pic update. Just look at the difference between the 2! Lefty is magnificent (if I do say so myself ), she's glistening but she's tiny compared to Righty! And as you can see, R is starting to shine.

I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps she's not an auto after all. For one thing, I had to flip the lights to get her to flower, so technically she had more time to veg whereas Lefty has followed an auto's schedule to a tee. They're both 12wks on Friday. Lefty is getting the chop this weekend, Righty will easily take another 2-3 weeks at least. Her top is LST'd as well and the cola is getting fat. So fat she's tipping over. Ha! I'll be fashioning something together to support her tomorrow, along with some tlc as she's hungry. I just haven't had the chance to look after them in over a week.
