First Grow, To document and seek help

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time grower and poster. I decided to attempt my first grow and wanted to keep everyone updated as well as get some help, info and a guiding hand every now and then, whenever I inevitably make a mistake. I've read a lot before this stage and would like to thank everyone who posts and comments here, it's a great community with a wealth of knowledge!

Environment

I've started it in a little cupboard with a space of 1000mm deep, 700mm wide and about 1800mm high (there's a shelf at that height, it could be removed and actual roof is about 2100mm). I've set up a PVC frame to hang light, fan, filter etc from.

Walls lined in poly/panda film, enclosed with zip door, 4" phresh filter and fan, MarsHydro TSL2000 (true watt 300). Temperatures have been about 21-24°C with humidity in the 60-75% range. 24/0 schedule for now. No heater, de/humidifier etc. I want to buy a small fan for air flow but am worried about temps dropping, currently have Filter>Fan>Ducting that runs from top to bottom of tent and blows air near seedlings.
The light is 65cm from seedlings at 50% power per manufacturers recommendations.

Medium

Cyco Coco and Perlite

Nutrients

Hygen Coco Grow, Bloom and Budlink

Plants

1x Vision Seeds Auto Lowryder

1x Dutch Passion Auto Critical Orange Punch

1x G13 Labs Blueberry Gum (Photo)

Set up;

https://ibb.co/3y8QFKp

Plan

Grow out the 2 Autos, leaving lights at 24/0 until flowering stage at which I'd reduce to 18/6. The Photo I was planning on letting veg for majority of the Autos life and when it was getting a bit big, take a few clones, perhaps 6-8ish and then let it continue to veg, harvest autos and then flower photo while vegging clones for a SOG/SCROG setup.

Diary

I soaked the 3 seeds for 36 hours, then planted straight into Coco. Day 3 from planting the Lowryder sprouted, then the next day the critical orange punch. Both cotyledons popped on 4th day.

Growth was slow over the next few days, I did water with a 30% nutrient solution of Hygens recommended seedling feeding.

The Blueberry Gum had done nothing and by the 5th day, I decided to dig it up like any patient gardener. I found it was black and looked pretty bad. I buried it too deep, pretty sure it died. I decided to germinate a second Blueberry Gum seed, this time I didn't soak it, just put it straight into a container with wet paper towel, duct taped up and put on top of my light for warmth. 2 days later the tap root showed and I put it in Coco. The next day it sprouted and the Cotyledons popped immediately, so this seemed to be a much better method than my first attempt.

I planted the autos and photo straight into their final 20L fabric pots but I put this second seed into a small plastic pot to transplant into the 20L pot later. I didn't mention I decided to leave the rotten seed in the Coco at that point due to being a first timer and in denial about the death of my baby girl. Once I saw how well the second seed was growing, I decided I better dry it out in the sun, fish the seed out and prep it for transplant in a couple of weeks. While it was outside, one of my cats used it as a litter, so I'm pretty sure that batch of Coco is fucked and I'll have to buy more before transplant.

The second go at the photo;

These are my 2 autos this morning;

How are the colours? I feel they are a bit light green which from what I read might be incorrect PH? Or maybe overwatering (I definitely have).

Here is a comparison photo with the Hygen Coco Grow bottle as I feel my camera doesn't really translate the green of the plants well.

Your sprouts are just fine color wise... dont overthink it and just let it grow. Don't feed with anything but distilled water. The seed has everything it needs to survive in coco or potting soil for the first 1.5-2 weeks. I just started 2 autos and im day 11... this is what mine look like

Hi mate,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the only water vs low dose nutrients seems to be a big debate amongst growers and I've read people recommending both so many times, I decided to try a very very low dose. My 2 autos are now on day 10 and they aren't anywhere near yours, hopefully they catch up soon.

Thanks mate

I'm telling you... stop giving it nutrients that it doesn't need. I legut showed you mine which are bigger than yours at a younger age... yoire stressing the young plant too much... look at mine... all I've used is a decent light, proper temp and humidity and distilled water at a pH of 6.5

My results haven't lied lol

Yes and I'll listen to you. I'm saying I've already done it and I can't undo it and the reason being is there is so much conflicting information from 'The seed houses 2+ weeks of sugars' to 'Coco is inert and seedlings need low nutrient dosage immediately'. When you read those and variations of them many times over on different sites it becomes pretty hard to know what to do.

Can I ask what your light and temps etc are? When should I start feeding them?

My lights are a Mars Hydro TS600 and a Viparspectra V600 Reflector series... the TS600 is a true 100 watts and the Viparspectra is a true 260 watts... and at a seedling stage I keep mostly under the TS600 because its not as strong and I keep my light schedule at 18/6. And I keep my light about 34-36 inches for seedlings and sprouts, 30-32 inches for veg and 24-26 inches during flower

My temps stay between 82-88F which is where I need them considering I am running LED lights and I have proper ventilation, circulation and intake which allows me to control my temps and humidity... my humidity right now stays between 44-52%.

General rule of thumb for nutrient feeds is as follows...

Seedling:
Week 1-2: Water Only

Veg Growth: (Veg nutes)
Week 3-4: 1/4 strength of recommended feed from manufacturer
Week 5-8: 1/2 strength of recommended feed from manufacturer

Flower Growth: (Bloom nutes)
Week 7-9 1/2-3/4 strength of reccomended feed from manufacturer
And if you want to feed with only water and molasses for the last couple weeks before harvest thats fine

Thanks for the info, I appreciate you taking the time to guide me. I'll stick to your plan and see how they go.

Any advice? Still slow, have been watering with nothing but water at 6.5ph.
