I flower with a 400 and veg with cfl so i'm not sure of 600w distance.
I would think though if you're planning on taking cuts, for now 20 inches should be fine.
You just may have to make your cuts a little lower down the limbs if they stretch before you take the cuttings.

From what ive read the top of the canopy is supposed to be 18-24 inches away from a 600 w but if your temps are cool enough you can go closer. I have scene people do 12 inches.

Ya...thats what I was reading as well. I have it at 20" right now...I could get it closer, but I think I will wait a few days to try. My hood is nice and cool....the glass is cool to the touch, but I don't want to lose any lighting by being too close. I know that most have an optimum height for max spread. I think thats where I came up with 20"...read it on here somewhere I believe. Hey ThatGuy...Your Avatar is money..."Way of the road Bub's" lol Love the Trailer Park Boys

After starting the LST on the ladies yesterday, I had to adjust my bamboo sticks and add a couple here and there. I thought I would snap a few pictures to show the difference in one day. Pretty not bad at all..:leaf:bentover4.jpgbentover3.jpgbentover2.jpgBentover1.jpgbentover5.jpg

Cool, they will veg great under hps, I purposely grow some of my skunks that produce mad vegetation under hps, and they grow thicker branches w/less water leaf, thus enabling awesome light penetration when plants are crowded. Bud results always come out similar when i veg under hps.

Ya...they seem to be doing just fine with the hps. Thanks for the heads up and easing of my worries..lol I have a 200 watt 6500k CFL fixture that I use for clones..I was thinking of adding it for the next couple weeks that I'm not using it. Thanks for stopping in!

Heavy gauge stainless wire works well as a stake that can both hold vegetation in place as well as taking place of the bamboo stabbing into the soil. Drilling holes around the bucket edge also creates a securing point.

Ya...I ran out of twist-ties, so now I'm using paper clips bent around bamboo skewers...actually works great. lol I was thinking that if they get too big I will just drill some screws into the bucket and tie to the screws. Thanks for stopping by!

Looking real nice. Thought I would throw up a couple more pics for an update. It seems to be going really well, the plants are looking really healthy. One thing that I have noticed is that the stems seem to be fattening up rather quickly. I don't know if that is the strain or the LST'ing...? As you can see I should be getting at least 4-6 nice tops for each plant.
:hump:Gigity...Thanks for stopping in...and don't forget...always pass to your right :joint:

Hi there, been growing the bubba for about 1 1/2 now. I love it so much I quit growing all other strains! If ever need any advice feel free to hit me up.. And yes, thick stalks are a trait of the bubba. Their to support the heavy dense nuggs!

It all depends on how your cooling system is set up. I have 1000watt Hps's flowering my garden and the leaves are actually about 2-3 inches away from my light. I use the Magnum XXL light reflector with a inline fan moving air to keep it cool..

Thanks for the response and offer! Someone on this thread said that Bubba was not a very high producer...have you ever noticed this?

Hey, that was me. I just said it wasn't really known as a great yielder, I'm sure it could yield good with more veg time though. I have seen a guy on the 3MA website claim he got 8 oz off of one. Whether or not it was true who's to know? Lol.

That is true. But using a trellis to create a canopy will greatly increase the yield. Also I'm using some cheap nutes and coming back with great results. Fox Farm Ocean Forest, Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, Grow Big, Open Sesame, Bestie Bloomz, Cha-Ching. I could only imagine what it would be like if I was running the Advanced Nutrient Line.

Lookin good by the way ;) +rep
Thanks man!! Ya I couldn't remember who was saying that..lol I'm hoping for at least 3 zips off each plant...I think that is "do-able" and getting a full pound would be SWEEEEEET! I have also talked to a few people that said they didn't have great yield off the Bubba...I have a friend growing OG Kush #18 right now, and he's only averaging between 1-2 zips per plant. He is just growing them straight up though..Thanks again guys for all the info and help! Cheers

I know...the guy at my local hydro shop is always trying to get me to upgrade my nutes to Advanced...maybe after a couple successful grows..so damn expensive. I have a friend that got divorced over Advanced Nutrients..lol..okay I'll tell the story. My buddy wanted to go Gozo and signed 5 patients and his wife had five as well. His grow was doing great and then he got his credit card bill....yikes. He had been putting everything on it...and it ended being over $20,000. Long story short...she ecded up leaving him. So I guess it wasn't the nutes..just he's not the smartest..lol
