Mylar the piss out of it. Because of the size it will not cost to much...then there is no dry time or smell...well dry time I don't think that you would have to worry about dry time lol!

cfls are best used side ways
you are wasting the top ones
I am not sure about the big ones however I am running 6 100watt equ. bulbs. right on the package it says 1600 lumens in base up position...and 1500 lumens in base down position. With all that light in that little ass box a few hundred lumens....nope not going to matter.

nicely constructed box... but how many plants are you expecting to grow? id suggest flat white paint all the way around but you can do whatev. and i dont quite understand why you have both the veg and flower lights in the box at the same time, seems like itd make more sense to change the bulbs out halfway thru, plus there wouldnt be as many bulbs taking up valuable space. and also something to think about is timer controlled lights vs switches (i assume you plan on controlling the light cycles with the switches), because the timer is less likely to get stoned and forget... lol just my thoughts... looks pretty professional tho

I would have to agree. I would hard wire timers right in with all the lights...set them once and forget about it!

I just hard wired the whole box. just like you wire a house. 12/2 wire. i can take a picture of the exposed side if you want to see.

my plan was to only grow a couple plants at a time, My needs are very small. Smoke lasts me a long time so i just need to grow a couple at a time and not all the time. Im going to put the whole box on a central timer on the wall. Your idea would work if i was going to be growing all the time. but that was not the plan. But thanks for your suggenstions, my next box will prob have built in timers.

Very good looking box, thanks for posting this! Since the lights are stationary I imagine you will be doing some form of LST to keep the branches off of them? Sorry if this question is a tad newbish, I haven't grown with CFLs so not sure on if they would burn the plant on contact.

This will be my first CFL grow and from what i understand is the bulbs can be up to an inch away so im sure ill do a little LST to keep from touching, Also might do a screen too just to keep things short. Thanks for the comment.

I would like to see a picture of the exposed wires, at first i didnt think you had exposed wires that why i asked how you wired it.

my recomindation for your plants touching the light would be to get some plexi glass it makes it so you dont have to worry about your plants growing right up to the lights (they will burn if they touch the light) and it helps with a heat problem you might have if you dont have enough or a big enough fan.

if your doing a grow journal let me know i would love to see how this works.

Can there be too much CFL? I got the second coat of super white flat in the inside of my box, got my outlet covers on, put 4.5 inch pvc tubes (two on top and two on bottom reversed of each other so i get a tornado of cold air effect inside). My camera is having a really hard time taking pictures because its so bright, but here are some. It is so bright i cant look at it. is that too much? Temp shot up to 89 after ten mintues. But thats to be expected since in dont have my exhaust hooked up right now.
