groovy man... 'glad you've got it under control. setup's look'n awesome! what sort of schedule are you running the uvb's on? (i'm running mine for four hours around 'noon' and it's definitely been bumping-up the trichs... only trouble's been some light-bleaching [though that may as well be because i've had the ufo pretty low over the girls].)

anyhoo, keep up the good work!

Georgi I'm started running the UVBs for the full light period 14 hrs and will continue too until I see negative affects. Do mine look as bright as they should in the pics I posted as compared to yours? I don't have any experience with the UVBs. I did have a power outage that did cut and hour and a half out of my light period thou hope it didn't stress them it wasn't like the lights were on and the power went out rather they just turned on an hour and a half late

Ok so I now have officially 9 females pretty sweet, I hope my space isn't too small for all of them. Looking towards the future I was wondering if it is too late to take clones? I know you can take clones from plants in flower but is it still faster than starting from seed seeing as you have to re-veg them? any opinions on the matter would be appreciated
Leetneo not much to comment on wish you all the luck.... but get your own thread.. jk

Looks like a good grow, hope all the best for you. I'm purchasing the Growl Mastif (600wt=2000HPS)for Budding and the pitbull(300wt=1000HPS) for veg. I'm using 1000wt HPS right now and WANT to switch.

Anyways Bean, good looking grow and I hope you yeild alot. Keep up the thread.

Well, I've been browsing this forum for the last four or five days. You get my first comment ever. This is also the first thread I've subscribed to. Very interested in your grow because I have the Adjustable Enhanced Spectrum UFO LED as well as the satellite system featured on that same website, which I plan to use CFL's with. I doubt this "enhanced" version is worth the extra money, but because I am doing this for fun, I thought it would be interesting to be able to control the amount of blue/red during veg/flowering. My space is just under 9 cubic feet which is the recommended area for the UFO.

LED grows are progressive and intriguing. I feel the same about aeroponics and would like to try that also, but I think I need some more basic experience first.

Anyway, your thread is my biggest inspiration at the moment so I just thought I would say keep it up! I won't bog your thread down with my comments but I'll definitely be watching.

I'm still amazed every time I visit my ladies at how much they have grown developed, especially directly under the LED. The sides of my space get more light from the CFLs then the LED. My CFLs all 2700K-3000K for flowering so I figured they would help the plants produce more then the LED (I heard they are no good for flowering) but the majority of the buds are right under the LED. Now I know I've only just begun but it is promising to see them move along so quickly. I still don't know if my UVB lights are working correctly I just use them as they are. I expected them to be bright like a tanning booth but mine aren't even close. The infared lights are pretty cool too hope they put out

Beanie!

I've been away for far too long.

-I had literally just finished working in my flowering room before I had to dash out of town. For 3 weeks. When I left, we had both just started flowering.

You now have flowers... and all I got 2 dead indicas, 3 runt haze's, and two giant dutch passion sativas/

Thank god they're all fems. But in my haste I wired up my lights wrong... One or two of my uvb cfls has consequently run contiunously for the past three weeks.

No flowers. :(

I want to cry., But I'm a man!

So instead, I'll hate on the product that failed me:

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752294&lmdn=Fish

fuck that product. Pics when I feel up to it.

Oh, and Bean, I'll be tossing some wiring questions at you soon brother

Night!

Treeth good to hear from you, Sorry to hear that those lights stayed on the whole time.
are the plants salvageable?
Have you seen the pics of my UVBs do you think they're lit 100%?
Anytime you need wiring help hit me up:mrgreen:

Ryan I think with LED the more the better I have one but I wish I had like 4 of them for my space which is like 3 X 5 foot, so I could get them closer to the plants. I'm a novice myself this is my first go around with the UFO

Noticed the first signs of frost forming on the plant closest to the UVB, maybe they are working right, very nice

HAHAHAHA-

ahhh, what started as a nice clean grow has launched into a mad experiment! All that wiring!? My, just how do you manage everything in there Bean?

About the uvb... try and find the spectral distrobution graph, it might be pretty minimal, but as far as i know, the bulbs actually tend to be pretty inefficient at producing UVB. I think that they achieve the effect somehow with the application of a special coating on the inside of the bulb with some compound including a rare earth (probably), while using essentially typical high K florescents. Good to hear it's frosting... I mean, you can always try to suntan with your plants to see if they work...

- Damn, there are so many bud sites! I think that you achieved an excellent balance of bushyness to stretch as well... What were your hours like again?

Oh, and what are your temperatures like?

Also, I'm glad to see that your "special" soil worked out, or did you ever transplant into that specialty soil? (I think not, owing up to the number of plants you still have, and how much room they're each taking up)

------

On my end, and more:

I still have two good sativas left, they're each at three feet or so and I'm training them quite roughly... The other two are dead now after attempting the miracle, last minute, failed rebound; The outcome is sad only because the one was a CRAZY pheno, a HUGE indica. Had it survived, it would probably be near 5 or six feet by now! Damn bubble wand aquarium thingy. I think the pH at some point killed it/them. I'm doing a deep culture aero next time. Double the res for each plant with a second bucket with a pump, which sprays water at the netcup/roots in the adjacent bucket, with a return line between the two on the bottom and plenty of bubbles.

Here are the two sativas, a little heat stressed, a little nutrient burn, a little pH damage, and training deformation. But recovering. I gotta bush em' up to match the footprint of the lights.

You asked about canna nutes-
I chose them mainly cause of their sensible product line without all the gimmicks. I really like cannazym, but the primary nutes... They say to let the water sit for some hours after you make it... Well, I impatiently dump it right in, and the plants stress for a couple of days, and its a bitch to get the pH right, and it climbs pretty fast after it settles. Granted, I do work with small res's at 5 gallons per plant. My plan to double up the buckets will make things easier, as well as setting up an aerated roughneck nearby to fill and maintain a constant supply of water, achieving the "some hours".

I'm steadily working towards the holy grail of environmental stabilization / control however...

ghetto two day solution for unbearable temps indoors and out.

Soon:
Sealed room.
Co2, ppm/ec/ph meter, Air Conditioning (indoor 2 hose), tons of fans, uvb, aero and get this...

The leds-

16 5 amp "modules" (on DC 12V of course), meaning... aw hell, you can do the math Bean!
- And this is just for those 2 good sativas, because of the dearly departed. I don't know if the leaves are drooping just due to heat stress... Or too many fucking lumens!

I had to kick myself this past week, I couldn't figure it out... What is a 80 amp DC 12V draw equal to when AC? ... ummm, duh,..

-Fuck, I have a single extension cord running to my room, powering EVERYTHING. I'm glad I got a more expensive one back when I had no idea, as It handles the full 15 amps out of the breaker box. Thank god only the washer is plugged into the same outlet...

FUCK! time to establish a washing machine blackout effective immediately for 14 hours a day.

!All my lines are warm, from the power supplies for the lights all the way to the breaker box. Bad. Right?!

In the future, I'll run a 230 volt line to the room and be done with it. Fuck its hot down here. For the meantime I should probably divvy everything in the room between the three separate outlets which are wired up down here in the basement, each to thier own breaker. Fuck its hot down here.

Simply no other way to go but sealed!

And now I have to think about chilling my res's. Damn Hydro. I could have had three or more soil harvests under HPS by now.

-------------

Congrats on the thread Bean! I knew you had it in you! ha.

Peace.

Treeth thanks for popping, in getting lonely in here, at what I consider one of the most interesting part of my grow. Everyone wonders how well the LEDs are at flowering well come see and if you say "well you have a bunch of CFLs too so how do I know it the LED" I know because the plants directly underneath he LED are taking off compared to the plants on the sides. (I don't want to rearrange them at this point because they are filling the space nicely) anyhoo I'm excited they look real healthy although I am losing bottom leaves to the inevitable N deficiency of flower (kept up with my veg nutes until they really started showing signs of flower like you suggested) so it should be ok. And in my pics the majority of the bud shots are from on plant that I topped that has 4 main tops that I spread out in a X shape (from above) and then the middle started filling out. I also have another with 3 main tops that looks similar. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the plants I didn't top. And by the way Treeth I did transplant it was alot of work but defiantly paid off, and I have kept my light cycle at 14/10 temps are usually in the low 80's with the lights on and in the 70's with them off. I found out recently that my seeds came from an old high school friend turned commercial grower via another buddy of mine, I spoke with him he was pretty interested in what I was doing and gave me some tips( no strain info thou ), one of those was to look into canna nutes. check in soon I'll try to get some frosty pics peace

ha, love it.
small world. even smaller when you exclude everyone who isnt a head.
(ANd maybe more meaningful?)

I wonder what the life of a barron is like...

-I said out loud, "Oh, nice..." when I read about the topped plant. Nice. Its gotta be loving the color of that ofu. My two "dolce vitas", the one has too many tops to count. It is really showing sativa, and I'm being very mean to that bush. Its got three, 4 square feet to fill up before I let it go to the sky.

I dunno at what point topping cuts into the almighty "heady cola" factor, but you are definitely safe with four. I think they look prettier as crazy trees.

Damn straight 14.10!
,

HE REALLY RECOMMENDED CANNA!

Cool. I really don't know. I'm also gonna try botanicaire, and decide between the two... as I really don't want to pay for marketing (AN). My plants do seem to like canna- I simply can't wait to get my room stable, eliminate stressors, from my life and thiers.

----

yeah, this is the interesting part, beacuase all of the hard work has been done!,

just get in there and suntan!, those buds are gotten be frostbitten and you burned.

Let it Ride Bean!

post script;

If your brother is looking for something really new, ;)

I'm running... what, I redo the math every day,

1000 watts on 4'x4'. This is the same effective coverage of an HPS 1000 watts. I just do it all in 635 nm red.

Peace.

Pardon me for asking but, where is your exhaust located in the box/closet and would a fan do the job for less electrical cost?
