I usually come down on the earlier side of harvest times from most of the folks around here, but I'd say you don't have more than a few more days to go on those. I'd say if you harvested this weekend, you'd be about right. Of course, I like mine to be a nice combination of the late-game couch lock and the early, more cerebral feeling. Regardless, they really look nice. +rep for seeing them through. Also, you can always trim your clones back a bit, before you put them into flower. You may end up with smaller buds, but they should be more numerous to make up the difference.

Im just wondering if you wait for the trichomes to turn brown? Or if you use a visual "que," as an indicator?

And you are only giving me rep now?
You bastard...you've been here for months-lol.

I don't use trichome color that much anymore, as I know my strains pretty well. What I look for is browning hairs, the fullness of the buds and just the overall look of the plant. I combine that with my own knowledge of average flowering time for the strain in question. As long as you don't have an abundance of clear trichs, with most being either cloudy or dark, and you're around your average flowering time, I'd go ahead and harvest. Like I said, though, I like to harvest toward the later part of the middle of the ripeness window.

As for the +rep, I tried but it said I needed to spread the love to some others before I could give you more, so I guess I have already given you said rep.

So check it out.

Remember when I broke a branch a couple of weeks ago--well I thought I`d put it through the Curing cycle. Which was hung for about 5 days (til I could `Snap`the branch) then I stored it for 3 days in a maisonary jar.

Well after what Ygrow and I were talking about I decided to take A hit...and yep I got stoned.

Mind you-I haven`t smoked anything since Feburary (basically when I started prep work for the grow)........... But I got High...and not just I little stoned--I got fairly ripped.

which is awesome.

So im going to flush with water ASAP. and harvest 3 days later. Then they will sit in the datk for a day and a half after that.

Then we harvest!!!!

so that`s the plan :)

PS-the pic of the bud drying turned out poorly--i tried to fix it...which was why I didn`t post it before But the weed in the jar was basically what I got from that branch. So it wasn`t touched at the time of the pic. Its only about 2 dimes.

Hey, not a problem, bro. I think you'll be happy with your results, harvesting early this week.

Also, FYI on cutting your clones back. I have a mentor who consults with me about all things grow, and he came over this last weekend. I had some plants that had been vegging for a couple of months, while they waited for my flower tent to finish the current crop. Well, these ladies had gotten bushy and big, about 2 feet tall, which is about a foot too tall for flowering in my tent. My buddy takes one look at them and goes, "Get me some clippers. Those have to be trimmed way back before they can go into flower." He then proceeds to cut almost all of the growth off until they were just little sticks, about 6 inches high. He told me to veg them for a few days, until they've recovered, and then put them into flower. I never would have trimmed them that drastically and it about made me sick to watch, but my buddy is the man, so I don't question him. The point is, if your plants have lots of healthy roots, you can trim them really drastically and they'll still come back from it. You just have to allow for some additional vegging time, in order for them to recover before you flower them. When you get ready to flower your next group, just cut them down to the desired height, veg a few more days and then flower those suckers. Works every time, as Billy D. Williams used to say. :eyesmoke:

On mine recently I waited as long as I could until I got a few leaves dying. Then I checked the trics an they were amber an startin to lean, so I cut and its soooooo yummy! I got a lil curing for some time!! They really fatten up an gain weight if you let them go a little long.

Oh man that story cracked me up.

I can totally picture that! But I take your point. And I will trim them down--although I can't quite bring myself to do what your buddy did. I just wouldn't be able to make myself do it...even though it would be best. I guess if I had some expert insist--yeah I would do it. I was freaked just topping the first time.

but i will definitely have to trim them down, or pinch them off.

Tomorrow im switching back to pure water, and flush out what little nutes are in their system.

Welp these are most likely my final pics before harvest they are being flushed as we speak and have been reverse flush with about 20 litres of fresh water. This is their second flushing.

The blue octopus (I know it has more than eight arms--I just call it that). Will be where I will hang my plants when they are chopped. Cost?: 1 buck at a dollar store.

My trichs are leaning
Some are a creamy colour

Im ready. (just a few more days of flushing then darkness)

This was bascially my yield. Is it going to get me on the cover of "High Times????"

--No.

Will it keep me as high as fuck til my next harvest--Absolutely!

Basically it was one big plant and one small (struggling) plant. Im totally happy with what I got and the scissor hash almost blew my ass into a different demension (okay I exaggerated---but im happy...so who'd blame me). But it did get me high.

I was actually "blown into a different demension" by the work load involved today. Im not complaining...but I really under estimated the time all of the cleaning and manicuring and what not would take. I was more than happy to do it mind you. I must of hauled 50 buckets of water in the last 48 hrs....but it's ALL GOOOD!!!

More pics in curing

basically all of my yield is on the 2 racks and hanging from a pink string on the left.

I also have a picture of the root system plus all the salt on my smaller plant's RW.

That was a lot of salt considering how much i reversed flushed the fuck out of them.

I used a meter stick in inches to give an idea of size--it was a nice fox tail for me and my first grow.

With my Hydroton Cleaned in H2O2 and rinsed and washed and rinsed...probably about a 3 hour process....The next generation has taken the stage!

They will go into veg til I can get a shit load of clones.

I'll be back to update the smoke review and give some costs and thought's on how it went.

In the meantime all comments are welcomed as the T5 Multi Spectrum Journal winds down. What can I say---it's been a blast and the learning has just begun. Growing MJ taught me a lot about myself. What I was and what I wasn't. But forced me to be meticulous and consistant. Also how to manage time and how to make it work. A commitment that was as worthy and rewarding as any I have ever untaken.

Hey it was great we Flowered and Vegged under the exact same lighting system! We also discovered a way to rotate crops and Vegging and clones so that we could always be growing-No Mother plant here...they all get SMOKED! I really enjoyed all the people who visited and especially the ones who stayed. It was a tiny hobby grow--that was all it was ever meant to be.

see you in a week and a half for the smoke review--a couple of closing thoughts, and some costs.

Just read your journal. It is exactly what I was looking to read. I look forward to seeing how the flowers smoke. I may be starting my own journal about my adventures in my growlab, hope it receives as much acclaim as this thread. +rep and subbed

Well this is it guys

Final Yield: 40grams - well im sure a HPS (400w) would have got me more of a yield than my T5's. But it was my first grow and I don't believe Im even close to discovering my Multi Spectrum's full poential. But for me...that's plenty.

Still with AC and my T5 set-up during one of the hottest heat waves to ever step-foot in the great lakes region of Canada. My Bill for June and July was 300 bucks(In Can or US funds) So thats 150 bucks per month...and that includes my normal home usage. All in all the hydro bill went up on average for this whole grow about 24 bucks/ month...probably less.

Am I Happy with the T5's as a light source? Oh Hell yes brother. But thats because I can grow enough to smoke. I could double the amount of plants and who-knows? Maybe get even better with this technique and triple or quaduple this yield with topping...or try it with RW slabs. Maybe even a SCROG....who knows???So im happy with the versitility of my set up.

Man, I tell you...from my point of view...

This is a nice personal grow with insigifigant legal ramifications ...just enough to smoke (..and enough to get you laid....hehehe). But yet the benefit of a truely enjoyable hobby? There couldn't possibly be a hobby more fun than this. It's alot of work...but when you are smoking the fruits of your labour....it's the best shit you've ever smoked in your life. Plus the fact you no longer (have to) depend on NO ONE or NOTHING to get your weed from here on in. It's a liberating feeling to know you are smart enough to grow your own shit, and don't need THEIR shit anymore. Whether you use HID's/ T5's/ LED's....we all have that in common.

So...how was Belladonna as Smoke?(Belladonna Smoke Review) It honestly was what I hoped it would be...a nice Sativa High that wouldn't leave you with couch-lock. A smoke you could function on.....and still get shit done...but...still be high. Of course if you smoke a lot it can kick your ass in a couple of bowls too. But its a pretty good chatty-weed too...if you are the talkative type. That first bowl is something special to look forward to after work....puts you in a great mood!

The taste and texture: A very smooth smoke with a mild skunk taste. Very nice in a bong.

Appearence and high: Beautiful green and red hairs. On some buds it looks like it's a 50/50 mix. Just really nice to look at. You know...this might sound strange (and im a little high) but I'd say this would make a great Christmas time Weed. With the Red and Green, the smell of her buds, and the ease of social interaction....I'd say this would be a great weed around the holidays.

Need something to smoke at the work Christmas party that won't leave you "socially crippled?"

Going to smoke a joint with your uncle during the yearly Christmas visits?...but again don't want to be a drooling idiot in a couple of hours after a few walks outside??

Want smoke something on Christmas moring before your sister open the gift that "she won't believe you got her?"

Heck..even the name Belladonna is classy enough to pull-it-off too.

Well...what did you think of the ebb and flow? Hydroponics? Flood table?

It was a bit rough this first time around. The nute burn was happening at faily low numbers (TDS). This was especially true during flowering. But the convience of auto-feeding is sweet once you get the hang of it

If you are growing with T5's--here's my advice. Remember that all the nutes instructions you are reading are based on HID's...T5 grows need considerably less nutes.

Unless it was the strain that had low nutrients, the T5's just don't seem to have the radiation to have a need for the "juice" that are needed with HID's . But I would never use this set-up for a commercial grow. But I would never use an HID for a hobby grow neither, not that im afraid of a big yield...but WTF would I do with it all (probably give away to hawt chicks).

Anyways-I think hydroponics is versitile, easy to expand...and alot of fun too. But you have to be a bit nerdy to like it. There is lots of meters, and problem solving involved. Not when you want it to happen, so it can keep you on your toes.

Fun and fast Flood tables are kind of out of style these days. But i enjoy the simple concept.

Well it`s a wrap!

After I get a few more grows under my belt, try a few things I`ll start another GJ. Thanks to all that paticipated. A Special thanks to Ygrow for his high-level of input. If you have any questions feel free to submit a post on this thread...even if a longtime has passed.

Otherwise: Farewell in all of your endevors (but especially your grows)
