Trust me I've been dabbling in the TrolMaster Aqua-X system for a while. I have the pump/tubing and all that to run it I'm just not ready to pull the trigger on Automation yet and nor do I have a tank big enough to hold the quantity of nutrient solution I require daily (40 gallons).

The plants you see were vegged for about 60 days in 10 gal pots of pure coco. I typically grow my plants about 6 feet tall keeping them a foot away from the 1000w DE HPS. I've never had a problem with bleaching or anything like that.. I think the key is keeping good airflow with oscillating fans and avoiding hot spots by not using excessive reflective materials.

I agree, airflow and just flat white paint works wonders. I recently rebuilt my grow room and just used flat white paint and it seems to be running a lot better than with chrome mylar. Those beasts would take a big reservoir lol. Not to mention tables and such would raise them up higher and that would mean having to have smaller plants. Everyone does what works best for their grow.

Exactly what I was stressing man.. You know the pain.

I want to keep them just to where I can observe them without a ladder. I'm 6'4". I'm all for less big plants than more small plants.

Grow what works for you. I've just had everyone that tried 100% coco never go back including myself. You're paying more for less. Roots can't grow inside rocks, they can grow through coco fiber. You're deleting 30% of your root mass minimum when you use that 70/30 mix. Unless you're using a larger container i.e pure coco 5 gal pot but with perlite 7 gal pot. Not sure why you would even do that but that is the only thing that makes logical sense to me.

Different strokes for different folks, different strains for different brains.

I realized your experiment is from seed. With the large difference in phenotypes that autoflowers can have, is it really a valid experiment? Shouldn't experiments be done with clones of similar size? Hand watering can also change the results, they all need an equal feed and even watering distribution. I do see the ones in pure coco are substantially larger but it could be because of these factors.

BTW do you have any info on your auto watering setup? Looking to test it out on a 4 plant setup in 10 gal pots then expand from there to a 16 plant system.

Mine is reservoirs feeding flood tables from the bottom. Its all pump fed and the reservoirs circulate with pumps. With your size of plants you may need to autofeed from the top and let it drain out into a drain. I work with growers that do top feeding on an auto and they get way better results than those that recycle their water using a reservoir. Both give great growth. The smaller the pot the more feedings per day I do.

Here is a flower-finish of my current Gorilla Breath grow in pure Coco. You can see they fill out nicely. This run is with Heavy 16 Full Line minus Foliar. (Plants in perlite were donor plants put into Sunshine Advanced #4 yellow bag mix.

I think I would rock 10 gallon pots and do cycle of top feeding like you're talking about. I just need some reducers I can stab into the 1" pipe I have running from a I believe 650 gph pump..

I run my co2 the same way on a mechanical timer with a Titan Regulator. I'll run it 1 hour on, 1 hour off, 1 hour on, 1 hour off at my desired setting, usually 6. My co2 gets as high as 2150 PPM if enough people are present with the regulator open. I try to keep it between 1000-1500 ideally..

I wouldn't be able to do a constant reservoir with nutrients/bennies because I would for sure have gnats rampaging my tray and plants. This is what made me ditch smart/fabric pots. Gnats will crawl up into the sides of those and annoy me to death. I have to spray Plant Therapy every day around all the plants to ensure they DIE 100%. I NEVER want bugs in my garden. lol

I'm going to program an Aqua-x system just like this but with less capacity:

I do 15 minute feedings every 2 hours with small plants. It usually takes an extra 10 mins to drain back into the reservoir. You can use one reservoir on two+ tables if you have it kick on every hour and alternate the pumping.

Yes I run 2 rooms with 4 x Gavita DE 1000W with Eye Hortilux bulbs. The fixtures on the end have closed hoods and the middle fixtures have open hoods for cross lighting. Seems to yield quite nice results. I have no idea what the yield will be this time..

Average Temps: 68-78 F
Average Room Humidity: 46-53%

If you get 1lb plants you are still sitting pretty thats more than most people get per light.

I'm shooting for 2 lbs per/3 plants which I think is doable from what I'm seeing so far. :) We'll see if I surpass that. I always way underestimate vs overestimate my yield potentials usually making it fun and surprising when weighing in. I had a half pound plant in a 5 gallon pot with way shittier lighting running just AN Coco Connoisseur 2-part, nothing else.
