Day one - didn't expect to see anything change.

My first surprise was the heat. 88 degrees! Should have been about 78. Then I realized the heating mat was still plugged in to the power bar and set to low. When I turned on the power bar I forgot that the heating pad was still on. Oops :P Unplugged it and things should get back to normal.

Second surprise - a sprout of sorts! One of the Scott's OG decided to send its tap root out the side and up!

I fixed it and I will check things again in the morning.

I picked up some goodies from the farm store. No Neem cake - bummer - got some Fish and Kelp hydrolysate. Also got some small square pots that fit 18 to a tray and so I got 54 pots, 3 drain trays and 3 regular trays.

Washed the pots and trays and brought them out to the nursery.

Did some work in the nursery today. Got one of the 36 inch T5s mounted. The bulbs it has are way too red and need to be replaced. Any good suggestions for T5 bulb suppliers?

I added some reflective Mylar to the roof and added a strip of metal tape to the face of the T5 fixture. It is very bright in that little cabinet :)

I ripped the center of each of the rooters open so that the seeds would not be so constrained. This gave me a chance to observe the root development of each of the seeds. Only one of the Holy Smoke Mulanje Gold $$ and Mulanje Bubblegum x MozPoz (MuMo BG) seeds have roots. All of the other seeds have roots and two of the seeds are already sprouting!

Mo

I'll have a JTR clone for you in a bit once it gets roots. Help you out in your pheno hunt. I got this from a very trustworthy source, and the flowers off of it are amazing with blue and purple hues.

Brownies are coming along nicely, Mo:). I nearly bought a bucket of mini brownies yesterday (we now have a Marks and Spencers in Amsterdam). But I got chocolate teacakes instead. Do you guys get Teacakes? Chocolate covered marshmallow on top of a biscuit base.....too morish for words.

We have these things called wagon wheels DST. Theyre probably close to what your talking about but mass produced and not exactly high class eating. You buy them in gas stations, not bakerys. Mo this is lookin great man. After i get through the rest of DSTs im reading yours and im sure ill have a couple questions. The first one is do you lst your outdoor plants?

Welcome Ninja!

I have used LST outside. Used it on the Big Clone in the trash can. Did some HST and FIM experiments also.

It started like this:

Then this:

Here is a branch that I pulled down under the cage:

Here is a knuckle that grew in the area I used HST:

Bushy growth from spreading this Malawi Gold Sativa plant with LST:

This shows the branch structure:

Last year I learned a very important lesson about rapid rooters and my rockwool cube tray. You need to check the rapid rooters constantly for tap roots. Cannabis tap roots are fast! Last year I had a great crop of seeds going and they all started dying and I couldn't figure out why. Then I discovered that they each had dried out tap roots hanging out of the bottom of the rooter. I almost lost them all!

So I checked the babies this morning and half of the rooters had tap roots already! I got 18 pots filled with soil and started planting the rooters on top so the tap root was in the soil. It turned out that exactly 18 needed planting! :)

I stopped in at the farm store again today to get another tray and a couple more domes. When I checked the rooters this evening there were 19 more taproots! They are now all in pots including the one I had to put in with the rooter tray.

More seedlings are ready for the soil. The farm store told me the Promix BX works better when it's not amended. So I filled the last 18 pots with straight Promix instead of the Super Soil / Sunshine #4. Funny thing - when I watered the Promix it did not shrink to half the size like the #4!

I put all of the seedlings out in the sun with their domes to see if they would thrive or wither. They thrived!

I am just off to bed. The MJ Professor sent me some more pictures from the Gobi dig. Will post later. Those DNA guys sure know their cannabis genes!
