Totally! Sunshine #4 is lighter and doesn't have the Mycorrhizae. I am using the sunshine #4 for odd jobs around the garden. I used it as a bedding for my worms to.

Hey Jozikins - How was the heat for you this week?

I need to set up a camera trap so I can see what is stealing my strawberries! I wish I could get the greenhouse done sooner!

Oh - last night I went out on my nightly bug hunt and found out that the earwigs are eating my Plumeria! Time to nuke the garden with Sevin - f#@k

I did netting over the blueberries last year and it made it almost impossible to get to them. It would be great as a ripper deterrent. It is impossible to see at night and it gets tangled on everything. I put it over the sunflower last year to protect it from the squirrels. I caught a huge moth in it :)

I will put the strawberries in the greenhouse when I get it finished and Jesus returns hehe

I thought it was a bird in the net when I first went out to the garden that day.

The blueberries would always be full of wasps that got stuck inside the net.

I have a steel screen cage around the big blueberry to see whether it is flying beasties that are stealing my berries or rats. The rats just crawl under.

Heat? What heat? It's been a beautiful week up here! And I couldn't ask for a better time for it to rain. I filled all my pots with my quick mix potting soil I threw together the other day, and now I get to naturally presoak my pots with free water! Luckily rain water is naturally around 6.0! Perfect! Way less of a pain than hauling 5 gal buckets of water up a flight and a half of stairs.

Hey Mo,

Good to see your garden is still blooming! Hope you enjoyed your trip to Hawaii, looks like you got some nice weather. We rocked up at the beach in Sete in the South of France and it was cloudy for 3 bloody days!!! grrr. Loving the succulent on a pole!:)

Peace, DST

Fantastic update Mo, garden is looking awesome! I especially liked the fridge and weeds shots, haha, but seriously, the Avacado monster, strawberries, blueberry greenhouse (very cool btw), just felt like I was strolling with ya :). ATB Mo,

Hey Mo I bought some pro-mix but Mandala's website says it's shite... What are your thougts?

Should I start nutes immediately (I have 5 Mandala seedlings that just popped the soil)?

Thanks

This is my first time making super soil with it so I am not sure what to think for MJ. My onions are going nuts and the strawberries love it. ProMix is very similar to Sunshine number 4 but a little richer. It holds water well and still drains well. I used it last year in #7 smart pots and with mainlined MJ plants started in June. It worked fine.

When it gets too dry it can be hard to get it to absorb water at first. That is the only negative I have seen.

Lol, I wasn't asked, but I like Promix way more than Sunshine, personally. I use sunshine more though because it's much easier to get a hold of where I am at, but I special order ProMix whenever i can, especially the BX formula, it also retains a lot more moisture and I see healthier roots in it. But my views of Promix are opinion based, just like Mandala. Our opinions were formed on experiences, which were shaped by our growing technique. I probably grow different than Mandala so I love the stuff, they probably like to water more frequently, or whatever the issue was, and didn't like the product. I recommend giving it a shot. I've always said MG was shit, but I've seen a decent grow or two with it, so I'll just throw one pot outside this year with MG in it just to know if it's worth a shit or not. I can't just talk trash on MG for 4 years and not try it, lol. Did you know the BX formula has Trichoderma in it? Not only does it make happy roots, but it also keeps away root and plant disease!!

But don't start nutes right away on the little seedlings. It's okay to give seedlings very small amounts of nutes (always under 250ppm @.5 TDS calib) but more than often this just causes complications, especially for new growers. That little seed had roughly 2 weeks of rations built into it, everything that seed needs for it's first two weeks of life is already equipped. Just keep it moist, not dry, not wet, just moist and it will turn out great.
