So, I wasn't sure whether or not to use MG or go nutrientless. All I had was MG blue granules meant to refill a water hose sprayer. But the bag said it would work for "Trees, shrubs, small plants, house plants." So basically anything.

I posted asking if I should use it and got a lot of negative feedback about MG in general being almost purely a plant murdering agent. But I got a couple replies from people saying that "If it was all I had, it was fine to use." So I did.

When I did, I got worried and thought I had for sure murdered my girls. But a couple days later they were FINE. I continued to use the MG (One pinch mixed into a pint), and 3 nutrient waterings later there is a VERY noticeable difference in the darkness of the leaves, and no damage. It worked out great.

This is for anyone worried about using Miracle Grow because of everyone hating on it on here. In the next 3.5-5.5 weeks I will have pictures all the way to finish on a grow thread.
The Scott's Corp has been targeting the indoor grow market in some ways, lots of new MC products appearing on shelves lately. I used to use it, and had good results with their garden blend soil...the one for flowers/veggies. Be careful with their potting mix, don't use it for flowering or if you must mix it with potting soil. The only product I still use outside of molasses and my own garden soil happens to be MC's perlite...stuff is great for in-ground grows.

A mo is a month. There are better nutes available specifically formulated for cannibus. It is a unique plant with unique needs at different growth stages. I personally wouldnt use it unless I had no means of getting something better. But thats no excuse, because anything (nutes) can be bought with a computer and internet connection.
hydro stores love growers like you..you can go buy nutes and soil marked up 50-80% because "miracle grow is bad" i call bullshit..i have used miracle grow and used fox farms ocean forest and sunshine 4 and found very little if any difference..well one big difference...save alot of money buying mg soil compared to ffof and over priced nutes..

oh and i also have been using a 6 $ bottle of organic fish emulsion from lowes or walmart that is the shit..that same bottle would be 15$ maybe more at a grow store..i also use their rooting hormone powder that costs 3$ and notice no difference from the olivias or clonex i used in the past..don't believe the hype and try it out and see for yourself

Hey Dude, I raised mine from start to finish with that miracle gro 20/20/20 blue granual shit and mine turned out very well... Taste is Great and the high is exceptional.... Miracle Grow worked out great for me doing it the same way you are now.... People have actually compared my shit to the new dro thats out there and said there was no difference on the high... So I think it works great... Never used MG Soil but the granuals work great...
The new dro,....wtf is that?? lol You're saying someone compared your herb to someone who grows hydro,....whats the point. If it's not the same strain and you don't know what nutes where used to compare them to, then the medium is irrelevant, you're comparing apples to oranges

The MG soil has time release nutes and those are the ones that cook MJ. First month is great, then.....you realize u just wasted a months time and a months energy. No thanks, I'll stick to nutes made for Cannabis.

I have used it as well, but it is extreemly hot and must be used with care. Have you tried miracle gro african violet liquid 7-7-7 in the purple bottle? I have used it with alot of success and I like it much better than the blue granules, and it's just as cheap. I start with 8 drops per gallon of water and work my way up from there. In my opinion if you properly adjust the way you use the fertilizer it is as good as anything that I have used, including fox farms.

Don't let people tell you MG is shit. It is not if you dial it in. I used MG Bloom Booster on a plant from start to finish and it was some of the best smoke around at the time.

I like to go against the grain though. I used 1/2g pot, 8.2ph water, and cfl's and still yeilded 3oz of DANK. It had to have been the MG Bloom Booster lol.

Nutes made for cannabis?, are they not the same ones nature intended for other flowers?. It's the ones who add MG liquid or other stuff unnecessarily that burn up their plants...never saw any problems using straight soil up until 2 years ago when I switched.

Journal link?

SunB, they can absolutely be used for other plants but they are specifically engineered to bring the most out of your genetics. I'm not knocking MG in general, sure there are some people who either get lucky or feed ultra light or just know how to watch their plants that have some luck with it but those aren't usually the people using it. It's usually the newer growers looking to save a buck or not have to go to a hydro store that buy the time release stuff and get burnt a month in.

like was said before on here.. i got a very odd taste even after 3 weeks of flushing straight water 3 x volume of pot... and still waas weird.. i think ill stick to happy frog and sunshine #4 .. or Ocean Forrest.. but hey i use MG for Outdoors.. and it works great.. u can plant them and forget about watering them if it rains enough.. and then the nutes run out before flower so u give flower nutes.,. and then do a 3-4 week flush.. honestly outside in the ground.. it seem to turn out better then the MG soil indoors.. wierd.

i have used miracle grow soil and i have used mg liquid feed..the veg green bottle and the bloom purple cactus bloom..both were good and no burns...the only time i see a slight burn is when the clones in rockwool go to the potting mix ...the first week i see a slight burn on tips then it is all good after that

The little spoon that generally comes in a box of MG is a 1/4 tsp on one end, and a 1/8 tsp on the other, The standard dose is 1/4 tsp to 1 gal water. Durely to god you can come up with a couple of measuring spoons and get a little consistency going on. You WILL have to flush before you flip them, The rule is 3x the amount of the pot, I'd go 5. Then start your flowering nutes. Don't go out and buy the Bloom Booter thet has 13-67-12 or whatever, you'll want a good 3-5-3 and supplement that with high P guano tea foliar feed, or a nice Kelp extract tea. watered in or foliar fed.

I would love to know what ferts that are specifically made for Weed have in them that MG does not have. I prefer "Peter's" 20-20-20 over MG for "most" of my gardening unless I'm pushing for fruit or flowers.

You do have to be very careful with ANY water soluble fert as you can burn the crap right out of your chit. I am never anywhere near what the manufacturer recommends as less can often be better and is never fatal. Some plants have a lot of trouble recovering from fert burn!!

MJ is not a fickle plant and does not need a fertilizer that cost 4X as much as MG and you can plant in well aged cow crap that doesn't price out in even the same league as fancy ass FF or what have you. :leaf: If you plant in the ground and start with good soil you can easily go a season without adding anything except love and water.

The biggest problem is that most weed growers have never grown anything except weed and all their plant knowledge is out of a magazine or a forum so they are convinced weed requires sumpin special and sumpin pricey. You can't buy better soil than I can produce for zero cost except labor. My seaweed or compost tea cost me nothing and is as good as anything you can buy. Concerned about micro nutes than add a rusty nail or a wooden match or two.

The most expensive fishing gear doesn't catch more fish, it just catches more fisherman. A guy who knows how to fish can use a Cuban YO YO and do better than a guy with a $300.00 rod and reel and no knowledge of a plants requirements for a happy life. :leaf:

Sigh... Save your money for seeds.

You guys are correct. MG does work. The problem is, the fertilizer sources were meant for things like ornamental flowers, not for consumables. The time release nutrients are of low quality and leave harsh residues within your final product. I'm not going to come out and say that it doesn't work, but it is far inferior to other products on the market, and also to compost you could be making in your backyard with products that you normally throw to waste. When it comes to clean smoke, MG doesn't cut it. If you want to swear up and down about how great it comes out, thats fine. It just goes to show the quality of cannabis you have come into contact with.
