MINI BUDGET GROW CHALLENGE

If I may give a suggestion, if you go to the store and buy activated carbon, you can probably find it for fish tank filters. Activated carbon will work WAYYY better than normal charcoal
I was out at our biggest retailer and they had none, to lazy to go out of my way. I was curious how well this will work, it only cost me $5. I seem to remember the aquarium stuff costing a bit more. Other than taking some extra space it seems to be working. It will be interesting to see what it could do exausting it out the room.

I think the main problem you will run into is replacing the charcoal because it gets used up faster than activated carbon. I was gonna make mine out of either diy activated carbon, or if I can't get the materials for that, a few boxes of dryer sheets and a bunch of powder charcoal. Hoping it will work but I'm not sure how well

I had that thought, but then I also thought I have a lot more material being used. I will try the activated carbon once this one gives out. I just could not find any word about someone using it and if it would work so I had to try to settle my mind about it. I am wondering if there is a cheaper source of activated carbon. I used to work in a brewery and every year we replaced the carbon in our carbon filters used for our water. No idea where it came from, mind you that was twenty years ago.

I think your best bet for cheap activated carbon is probably buying a large amount on line at once. Then you'll have enough to last you as long as you need. Updated DIY grow light also gonna be complete soon (hopefully tomorrow). I'm soldering a few 3000k led bulbs together and removing the diffusers. I tried to solder the wire to the metal "screw in" part, but it wouldn't stick so I just ripped then apart and I'm wiring them together directly. Probably going to use a small piece of wood to keep bulbs in place. I measured one light on my phone with a lux app (the lighting in my room was dim at the time of testing, and it read 0 lux, so the app isn't super accurate) but i went outside on a partially cloudy day, and it read something like 28000. I just tested one 9w led without the diffuser and got like 38000 (from only a few inches away.) Could anyone tell me a better way to measure ppfd other than guessing along with an online lux to ppfd converter? I don't have money to spend on an expensive meter, Because if I did, I'd just spend the money on a good premade light.

I look at it as we probably will not have to worry about too much light, the lux meters or whatever would be useful in getting an even coverage pattern.

That's what I'm thinking of using it as. Make sure the corners get the same light as the middle to maximize yield. I want to eventually be able to get a good few ounces out of that box. Not sure if it's even possible given the size, but I've seen people get an ounce in a PC tower.

(So sad, I'm on my last tiny bowl. Gonna scrape some keif, fill my bowl and maybe mix in just a bit of tobacco just for filler)

I just looked up the PC grows, it blew me away. I think I may have the wrong plant for a small space though, looked up my CBD strain and it says it can grow to seven feet.

I used to stealth grow in a pc case. Good fun trying to grow in one. Have to get a bit creative with your topping, training, and grow from seed 12/12. It has a couple clones rooting in it now.

I think that's if you grow outdoors. The rule of thumb is your plant will either double or tripple in size once you flower. So make sure you only take 1/3 of your height before you flip to 12/12. If it's a sativa, it will get taller than indicas

Would love a picture and dimensions for your PC box. I have a decent sized case but I still think it's too small for the yield I want

Only read the first couple posts so far but wish I would have seen this when it was started! I could literally do a 0 $ grow. Let’s do another round after this is done.
Could jump right in, I started later in the game myself. And it is not like we are keeping score, just having some fun. The water in nice, why wait for tomorrow, the more the merrier.

I was planning on it! Once I get this grow done, I'm gonna revise my setup and try to do it under my bed. That's only about 20 inches of height. And I just had to restart my grow so Im late too lol. I just started this because I love micro grows and I wanted to do my own and document it. The more people who join, the more mistakes are made and the more we as a community can learn from each other

A buddy had got his driver-cob combination and we mounted it on a heatsink and fired it up. I may have to jump ship on the light bulb after my plant gets bigger and when mine arrives. A heck of a lot of light for a small size and cost.

Got tired of the bs leaving on page 3 good luck with the grows.
Only one person on here decided to act childish. I politely asked to remove the comment and they flipped for some Reason. If there's any chance you would still be interested, I would love to see how you can do with a super budget/micro grow .even if you make your own thread, I'll be sure to watch it and join you for the ride

Well here’s what I have going now literally $0 cost. I put my closet together for $200 and harvested 6oz so I’m in the green lol this plant is 10 days 12/12 and not a penny spent for this one.
