mexican brick weed

Mexican brickweed of the old days was the entire plants folded up and squashed all together in a bunch of garbage bags and duct tape. When you broke open the bales days/weeks after it was baled up, it often smelled like ammonia and mildew. We got stems, STALKS, roots, rocks, dirt, bugs, seeds...oh, yeah...and a little bit of leaf and something that might have been a bud or two. We just divided it up as best we could into "lids". We had to take the loss on some of the weight because we couldn't pass the stalks and rocks onto customers....most of the time...heh heh

Most of it was pretty terrible. SOMEtimes, we got a good bale from Oaxaca -neon green buds full of oily, black seeds....smelled like fresh moss and Earth...very pleasant high. It was still considered as ditch weed. The stuff that everyone coveted in those days was the Columbian strains.

Thats funny, the oaxacan we got was a real light color loaded with big white seeds, probably a different vintage.

Yep, what we got from Oaxaca was very light, bright green and the seeds were VERY thin-shelled and almost black with no stripes or marks on them at all. They broke open easily with just a bit of a squeeze. They were shiny, oily-looking. But, honestly, in those days, randomness was always the rule! We took what we got and made the most of it. Every now and then, I run a across a commercial strain that hints at some of those old flavors...never as pungent, though.

We used to get some pretty fire packs down in South Tx along the border in the early 2000s that I'd take over most of today's dispensary weed. Every now and then you'd find entire elbows without a single seed, purps, skunk, sours, you name it. The reason for so much bunk is because all that shitty brick cost next to nothing and plenty money was still being made. $50 packs just to move them out the door and make room for the next load was not uncommon at the time.

I'd spring for a $250 QP of my late 80's staple stuff. And the pounds of seeds we disposed of?? Almost brings a tear to the eye now.
I had the same deal in the early 90s. Would sling $50 halves, and keep the remainder.
Had another guy we would buy the shake from the bottom of his lb's for next to nothing. The dispensary's should start offering dimesacks of shake

I thought that was where pre-rolls originated? ;)

At least it was super cheap back in the day. I remember when my daughter in law came in town to visit couple years back and I had a buddy get me a $25 bag for her and not thinking things have changed. Shoot was I wrong. Had 2.5 grams lol I was like you gave me the wrong bag, this looks like the part we used to pinch when we got a buddy a bag of weed

Ahhh yes thee ol' pinch. That got me "free smoke" for a while but I only took enough to skim and not enough to be a rip-off

Some folks in the US are spoiled.
I took a work trip to Seattle this year and picked up two prerolls with matches included for $10. Here in MA that is 20 for some shake in a wrap
Myself and buddy sold joints for a dollar under the cement trestle behind our alternative high school at second break. And headed to the disc golf park by lunch. I purchased a pre rolled in a fancy tube about 6 years ago. Like$14 with taxes. Under a gram and picked early stuff.

Dude. Was proper etiquette to burn one or donate a bud to the mule. Pinching. Hand postal scales prevented some issues due to in-accuracy. LOL.

Never saw a lid here. Was fingers and then 1/8th's and up as we got fancy with party store scales. Grams is just greedy in my book.

Although I did run mexi/brick through a coffee grinder in the late 80's to drop at a cemetery my cousin's prison labor group maintained. He was getting $20-25 for a McD's coffee stirrer spoon.
