I'm gonna get the guarantee because if something happens in the mail, they'll send me more for free. Seems worth the ten bucks for me, less than an hours work for a little peace of mind.

Interesting development. So i had fungus gnats a while back, used the spinosad on the soil, and thats what ended up damaging the clones so much. It took a while for the decline of the fungus gnats, and haven't seen any for a while now, but i think I picked up a beneficial predatory insect. I was checking out my soil, saw some bugs crawling around...So I hopped over to the bug section of the forum and there in the first five posts was my answer...Lucky me! Looks like Hypoaspis miles and it turns out the feast mainly on fungus gnat pupae!!!! So the spinosad weakened the gnats, and these guys moved in to finish the job. They don't hurt the plant and are used for pest control in greenhouses! Here's a link

Transplanted the babies today, they look so small in their big 2.5 gallon pots. Kellogg Patio Plus and Perlite, 70:30 ratio. Had to tie Lefty back up in the new pot, so here's a little plant bondage.

100_0763.jpg100_0762.jpg

And here's Righty, looking all sad and nitrogen deprived. Payday tuesday, i'll take care of it then, but I think the transplant will make everyone much happier.

100_0764.jpg

And here are the clones, about to finish their 6th week. I think Laverne will take about 9-10 weeks based on trichome development, but barring disaster, Shirley is looking like an 8-week girl.

Anyway...Hope all your grows are going well! Keep your thumbs green guys and gals!

Breaking News for Southern California CFL Growers!!!!

"Do It Center"(Hardware store)In conjunction with SoCal Edison(Power Company) is offering 23w 2700k bulbs for $0.50 each!! Thats right, Fifty Cents a pop!!!!! And since you need to replace your CFL's every 3 months or so to keep those lumens pumping...it's time to stock up!!! No Joke!!!! I bought 6 for 3 bucks the other day, I'm about to drop 20 bucks on 40 LIGHTS!!!!!!!! SoCal CFL growers, head to Do It Center and stock up!!! I dunno how long this deal is gonna last, but where else you gonna get 100w equivalant, 23w actual 2700k bulbs for under a buck a bulb? Also, they're selling them by the bulb, no need to buy in bulk! Hope there's a DoItCenter near you!

So for the past few days I've been on a scavanger hunt, picking up odds and ends for a new project. If you've followed my thread at all, you KNOW I can't sit still on anything for more than a few days. I'm all about experimenting and trying out new shit...so it's time for a new project. This is a shameless bump post so the pics are at the top of the page...lol

So anyways, it didn't take long to gather the material. I must say, I was inspired when I discovered that I had an old summersible powerhead(water pump) lying around...Here's my first crack at setting up a DWC system. First my shopping list.

Materials:
One 18 Gallon storage container from Walmart- $4.00
Six 3.75" net pots from Hydro Store- All 6 for $3.50 about $0.60 each
25' Silicon Air tubing, 1/4" BLACK- $8.00
20' Fountain tubing, 3/8" BLACK- $8.00
One 20-60 gallon Double Outlet aip pump, 2800cc/minute from Walmart- $9.95
Two 6" FINE Bubble Airstones from Petsmart- $4.95 each, one didn't work so I'm returning it :(
Three "T" splits for air line- $1.09 each
Submersible Water Pump, 400 Litres/hour equals 100 GPH, 0.75 Meter max height- Free!! (Already had it)

100_0779.jpg100_0777.jpg100_0778.jpg

So here's the tub with the netpots in it, and a shot of the homemade manifold underneath to top feed until the roots grow down into the water. I used the 3/8" line to connect with my pump and the "T" splits to connect the air line. BTW, the Air Line I bought says for air or water, so it's all good to pump H2O.

Now with a little luck I'll be able to get some seeds soon. Thats the only thing holding me back. Anyone out there doing hydro setups, what growth medium ya'll using? I was thinking Hydroton, but always open to suggestions

So I'm wandering around Walmart, minding my own buisness when BAMM!! A deal hits me right in the face. 8 1/2" clamp reflectors on clearance for $2.50 each! I only bought three, but I intend to go back monday and snatch up like 6 more.

100_0780.jpg100_0781.jpg

Hooray!! No more ghetto extension cord fixtures hanging from the ceiling! Lets wrap these fuckers in lumens!! So here's Lefty, being hugged by the new lights, Bound and gagged.

100_0782.jpg100_0786.jpg100_0787.jpg

And Righty, feeling better from the transplant and improving by the nanosecond. I think there's a plant under there somewhere. I like the backlit shot with the 8 1/2" reflector for scale, I guess they're about 8 inches...lol

100_0783.jpg100_0784.jpg100_0785.jpg

And a quick shot of Laverne showing off her goodies...Looking frostier every time I look at her.

I enjoyed reading your grow mate, will certainly keep an eye on this. I enjoy reading about people's inventiveness, bit of a mad scientist myself.

Way to go Meta...your kids will enjoy the new homes and light set up!
Yeah, they love the new pots, and I'm thinking about throwing them into the flower tent on the 28th, just started germing some bagseeds, one of which is "Some Kinda Kush" or so I'm told...lol. Also, i think Shirley is gonna get chopped the same day, trichomes are getting cloudy and i even saw an amber or 2.

Yeah, looking forward to tasting Laverne, she smells GOOOD. Kushage is the strain, and I might order those beans somewhere down the line. As for the hydro...lol...the plan is to keep 4 plants in soil, two in veg and two in flower. I hope to start 6 in the hydro setup and probably cull them, narrowing it down to 4 when the sexy phenotypes show themselves, or if growing from seed, chop at first sight of balls...lol

Cheers mate! I cant help myself, I cant seem to sit still on this for a moment. I find myself aimlessly wandering hardware stores, not really shopping for anything, but instead thinking of the next project, or how I can improve my current setup. Things are starting to take off, and it's much easier on me financially to pick up supplies for my grow one or two pieces at a time. Worried about diving into the hydro DWC setup, but at the same time can't wait to get my feet wet. I have 6 beans germinating right now, and hopefully I can throw a couple in the hydro tub to test it out, but they might all go into soil. I haven't figured out how to explain the mysterious aquarium bubbling sounds coming from the closet...lol...It's hard enough having fans running 24/7

Thanks to everyone for the support, I love this place and it's awesome having you guys to grow with side by side. Everyone keep up the good work!

hey meta, i've been following your grow for a while. shit is looking good bro, love that bud porn on laverne. i'm the same way as you, finding myself strolling around hardware stores, looking for new ideas. this growing thing is kind of like a perpetual loop... the more you smoke, the more creative you get on your setup, the more buds you produce, the more you smoke, etc, etc, lol. keep up the good work man.

Thanks bro! It's been so easy so far, putting things together one piece at a time, can't wait to try out the hydro setup!

Yeah, growing sure is addictive. It was a natural progression, I started smoking pot at a pretty young age and never looked back. In fact, the first time I smoked, I felt complete, as if i had been missing something for all those years. I can't even believe this CFL project has gotten so out of hand...Here I am sitting on my 45 gallon smartpots, waiting for spring so I can grow outdoors, and I've already got a bonified indoor project started! But really, this is all an experiment to kill time till I can grow outdoors, but it sure will be nice to have some free smoke while waiting for harvest in Fall!!! Thanks for all the kind words, guys!
