Massachusetts rippers

It’s that time of year, harvests will be ready to go in the next 4-8 weeks. Now that we’re a legal state they’ll be a lot of teenagers and bums looking to grab someone’s grow out of there yard. It’s not like it was before when someone might stumble upon your guerilla grow. The majority of people know that it’s legal and people will be taking advantage of throwing a plant or 12 into there backyard. Before we had to be worried about law enforcement. Now we have to be worried about everyone, from nosey neighbors, to landscapers or other people doing work around the neighborhood. Even people just going for a stroll that catch a whiff of goodness and then get curious about where it came from. Just be diligent, myself I’ve hooked up sensor chimes that I got off Amazon. Anyone who walks near my plants will set off a loud chime in my house. What other methods do people in Mass use to detour rippers and thief’s?????

Mine are in a locked enclosure outside close to the house. I also live pretty far back in the woods not many people know I’m back there. The only thing I worry about is my neighbors have like 50 kids and they constantly trespass onto my property even though I have signs up but they haven’t gotten close to the house as far as I know yet. The smell is getting pretty strong though and may attract wandering noses. What camera did you go with as that was what I was thinking of doing too

I didn’t go with cameras, I was going to but figured unless I was watching live at the time of the theft it wouldn’t be useful. I went with these, they sell them at harbor freight as well but on as a single sensor
4VWIN driveway alarm provides a convenient and economic way to alert you the moment when someone is approaching your home https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JRASE8S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2XoDDb37Y8AYC
My yard is fenced in and locked with multiple no trespassing signs , but I put 1 in the driveway and 1 in the backyard near the plants at waist height. A fence is easy enough to jump for a curious person looking around.

Locks, Cameras, a Dog, and a Ring door bell...
I like the ring door bell but it has its flaws. For example on the neighbors app this morning I seen a post of someone getting a package stolen off their porch. Because of the delayed reaction on the camera, it only caught him walking away after grabbing it. Which was unfortunate. But in general there nice I have 1 but it only covers 1 side of the house. IP cameras are nice to but you have to have a power source, if you have that there extremely affordable and probably the best option in my opinion.

I don't know how you feel about guns or what the laws and property rights are in your state ....Pretty strict I would imagine. I find that a gun pointed in somebody's face is always a huge
deterrent
That would be my preferred response, but unfortunately Massachusetts has a retreat law. If you can get away then there’s nothing you can do, your life’s has to be in imminent danger, and they still might make you have to prove it in court. We’re a liberal state.

You would get in more trouble for beating somebody's ass on your property than pointing a gun at them where I live. Weird , I know. We've had many instances of home owners shooting burglars in the back before they got off the property and the prosecutors wont touch it.

I wish that was the case here. In mass someone could break in your house and then you beat them with a baseball bat. Chances are you’ll get charged. Whether the charge will stick who knows. But then they can go after you in civil court as well for injuries. Again who knows how far it’ll get but you’ll still be out a ton in lawyers fees. It’s fucked up.

Yeah, I may be moving to Maine. I own a shot gun for home defense. I should check their laws out first ...lol

Iam actually from Rhode Island but bought a house out in mass 5 years ago. It has its pros and cons, property tax atleast in Bristol county is 10x cheaper than anywhere in RI. But the property laws are lax. Even simple things like someone’s trees falling over causing damage in your yard is on you. They fall under an act of god law unless you can prove the tree was in bad shape prior and they did nothing to solve the issue. Out where Iam at, the mayor has like 15 federal charges against him. Half the police department is suspended for writing false police reports. Lol why the fuck did I move to Mass.

Good ole Fall River lol I’m in Swansea btw. Mass does suck. Like i said I’ve had problems with kids trespassing on my property and when i talked to a cop about it he said there’s nothing i can do. He told me to “write a formal letter and complain”

I'm growing in raised beds. I've added a solar powered motion detect floodlight, trailcam and personal alarms to each plant. The alarm is looped around the main stalk and the other end attached to the grenade pin is tacked into the sides of the raised bed. I figure even if the ripper try to grab the plant, the 120 db alarm should get someones attention. They might rip out the plant but there not going to take it with the alarm going.

Ya I hear ya on that, the police don’t seem very helpful in general in Mass unless you or a family member has friends on the force. Yep Fall River where you have to throw the Mayor 100k to get approval on a dispensary lol

Funny you say that, I did think about using 1 of those alarms. I thought the same thing the noise is so loud it should atleast startle them, especially if it’s in the dead of night.

IME, most rippers aren't smart.
Ya there not to clever imo or they would just grow themselves. Plus some people are crazy, they don’t realize they put themselves at risk of injury. There just thinking of the free weed. Not about pulling to early and it being shitty bud,or they won’t dry it right and end up with some harsh ass bud that’s not smokable.

I have Night Owl 1080p with night vision. For $200 at Walmart, bestbuy, amazon, etc. You can get the recording device with a hard drive and 4 cameras, expandable to 8 total. They work awesome.
