Mandala SATORI Grow [400W]

p.p.s.s.
mandala strains are top notch! ive seen satori grown, hashberry, ganesh, and speed queen as well, and for the price they charge you get some top quality genetics. vigorous growth, tight node spacing, and quality buds. i hope someday they dont realize we are robbing them and jack the prices up like other extortionists, asking 100+ for a seed. i think charging more than $10 a seed is highway robbery because a plant can give you more seeds than the bud is worth. but thats another rant.

kudos and happy growing!
The reason why some seeds are more expensive than others is because of the time and effort invested in breeding a really good strain.

Breeding is a very long and arduous process which may take years to get the perfect plant you want and the supply of seeds in a budding plant means nothing if most of its seeds are unstable.

Which is why planting bag seeds from the best kind bud you just smoked doesn't guarantee that the product of your plant will be the same with the one you smoked (assuming you grew the plant the same way the original grower did).

Seed breeders like Shantibaba, Neville, and Ingemar--they were all able to come up with some of the best strains in the world. I would understand if their seeds are expensive. :eyesmoke:

Nonetheless, I agree with you that it's nice to have Mandala around. They are true breeders, and they have great strains at an affordable price :-)

After reading all the great reviews I have decided to order some Satori beans. I am planning a guerrilla grow this year, does anyone know how this strain does in the great outdoors? I live in Michigan and plan to start my seeds indoors the second week in May and transplant them outside around the first of June. I currently have:
10 Pure Power plant reg. - Nirvana
1 Bubblelicious fem. - Nirvana
1 White Widow fem. - Nirvana
10 Brains Choice reg. - Kc Brains
1 Hash Plant Haze fem. - DNA Genetics
17 Mixed bag seed ? - My Town :-)
Thanks Guys...

That's great Pothead! Order the Satoris! :-)

I will have the 250W ballast kit wired and assembled by my electrician friends tomorrow. I can't wait!

I like to assemble my own ballast because it is way cheaper than purchasing the pre-assembled ones.

Make a journal of your grow Bengi!

Maybe we can help each other :-)

I could. The first part of the grow, I am letting my gf try her thumb for the first time. She germinated them and vegging them for some clones and mothers. After the clones have been taken I will be taking them and flowering them out. There looking very healthy right now. 1.5 weeks under 2 t-5s, and there already poking there third set of leaves out.

This past sunday, the seventh, they got their first dose of full strength flowering nutes even though I still have them under seventeen hours of light. They got a second dose on the tenth, wednesday. No sign of any nute burn. Big bloom and tiger bloom were used along with a tablespoon of molasses. Today is their last day in veg and I'll be cutting it down to fourteen hours of light before switching over to 12/12 saturday morning. The Jack's Classic bloom booster I have been waiting for has arrived. I'll be using it from here on out instead of tiger bloom. The malawi is really starting to look like a sativa and she smells wonderful already. There are a lot of alternating nodes on the girls, they're ready to flower. My plan is to feed them every watering with a low strength solution rather than once a week with a strong one. I'll be adding advanced nutrients big bud along the way and to finish humboldts gravity. Thirty nine days of vegging today. I'm hoping for some explosive growth in the next couple of weeks. I've kept them tied down real good and the side branching looks to produce some nice buds.

So far weedy, no problems with the strains I'm growing taking the nutes. The malawi's tips have shown a bit of burn from the time she started growing but the additional nutes have not made it any worse. All in all, they are green and happy. No signs of any deficiencies. I also throw in some cal-mag every couple of waterings. How's your mutant doing?

The lineup,

Arjan's Haze #1

Arjan's Strawberry Haze

Jock Horror

Sour Cream

Malawi 99

This is the sixth week of vegging. They were transplanted last friday evening into their three gallon containers. After transplanting they were started on lst'ing. I topped the jock horror last week it was getting huge and I think it's a male. The strawberry haze and the malawi 99 are already flowering under seventeen hours of light. I turned the lights back an hour after last weeks transplant. Tomorrow evening after the lights go out the lamps will be changed to hps and 12/12 will start saturday morning.

The pics.
Wow they look green and good! :-)

I will post pics of my plants later today. I'm planning on transplanting them to bigger pots just before I introduce the 250W HPS lights.

The seedlings are now on Day 7 and they look nice and healthy. :-)

Yes and I'm looking forward to the growth spurt the plants will get after basking under hps lights!

Has anyone grown Satori outside?
I believe many have. Just look for them. Also, check out the outdoor guide in the Mandala webpage.

Day 8 and I just had them transplanted. It is 11PM now and tomorrow at 9AM, I will be putting up the 250W HPS.

:bigjoint:

Pics were taken before transplant :-)

Check out my cool ballast setup :weed:

250W HPS and I'm so pleased with it. The wooden board dampens the vibration and it makes no noise at all, just a whisper of a rirrrrrr.

It's resting on flame retardant material.

Cost me half the price of the assembled ballast.

Take a peek at my grow box:

By the way, to the fans of the little twin, I regret to inform you guys that I had to let it die.

During transplant, I had to bury it with the coco to remedy the stretching of the taller twin. The small one was just too small and I don't think it will get far anyway.

The growth of my seedlings are not uniform at the moment. I have a couple of runts and some fast growers.

I don't plan on feeding them yet until third week of vegging. For now, it will just be the worm castings.

Updates. I have 8 plants at the moment. One of the two runts did not make it. When I pulled it out, the root structure was very weak and small. I have one runt remaining and I don't think it will go far, but we will see

Temps in my grow room reach 40C. A few days ago, I installed a 250W MH bulb and it proved to be too hot for the seedlings that 3 of the Indica-looking phenos got burnt tips. They seem to be recovering now that I am using the 250w HPS bulb.

But of course, in every batch of phenos, there are champions. Luckily, I have 5 at the moment and I am just impressed by the heat resistance of the Satori. These phenos seem to be unfazed by the high temps and continue to flourish.

I believe some strains, particularly the sativas, are just accustomed to high temperatures. I remember growing 5 landrace sativas under 40-50C outdoors, all of them regular seeds and yet I still had 5 females with no signs of stress.

I hope I get a good number of females in those 5 best plants. And if there would be male/s, I will definitely back-cross them to preserve the heat-resistant trait.

Pictures coming up... bongsmilie

These are the 3 burn victims I was talking about. The Metal Halide was just too much for them and I didn't have a fan blowing towards the bulb during that time:

Some good looking ones with the runt:

My favorite CHAMP, I hope it will be a female:

Have any of you seen this in the dispensaries? I haven't if I remember right.

I just ordered some Satori seeds from Attitude, and I hope to make this my next grow. I'm hoping to find a nice mother in the bunch.

wow...40-50C and no signs of stress, that is one tough strain!
Looking great Weedy! :weed:

It surprises me too :o.
I was able to lower the temps now to the 30s lol Heat resistant or not, I still get worried :? It's all good now :-)

Yeah I was also wondering the same thing. Sadly we don't have dispensaries where I live. Cannabis is VERY illegal here.

You will surely get at least two great mothers in the satori, Pinkpipe! I'm so sure of it :weed:
